I called yesterday the day before easter to make sure they were open on easter. And the lady said, yes, we are open on easter, and she said she knows a lot of places are closed, but they're open regular business hours.So I told her I'll call back and place my order.She said ok. Well, I placed my order online which I always do And I have done that for years.And never had an issue. But then today I am waiting for my order and it never came and a half an hour later, still never came.So I called and called and called and nobody answered so I actually had to drive over there even though I paid for delivery fee and a tip and there were completely closed, the doors were locked and the lights were all off. That is not ok especially since I called and they said they would be open. I reported them to the company they use for online ordering and I better be getting my money back... Food was amazing! Fried pork dumplings were bursting with flavor. I bought 2 soups, the hot and sour and wonton for 2. Both were delicious with their own authentic tastes. It has been about 15 years since I have eaten at Gungho. I remember thinking back then that I'm not going to bother going back because their Chinese food was bland and greasy. Since it has been so long, I figured I'd give them another shot and try ordering off of their sushi menu. Again, 15 years later, I am sitting here, disappointed, and reminded why I haven't gone back in so long. Went with friends for early dinner. They swear by this place. I was not impressed in the least. The server was not at all efficient. Didn't bring out waters when asked, had to be called over to bring items to go with the meals. She also brought my friend the white sauce with their meal when they specified the brown, twice. I ordered the beef lo mein, beef fried rice and chicken fingers dinner special. It came with soup. I chose wonton. The soup was the only party of the meal I enjoyed. It's difficult to mess that up. My lo mein and fried rice was extremely greasy and lacked flavor. The beef in it were tiny slivers. Add this to the 2 chicken fingers, flavorless and greasy with too much doughy outside. My friends liked their meals, the general's chicken I sampled, the sauce tasted ok...too much greasy dough on the chicken. The shrimp in lobster sauce did not look appetizing at all. Best Chinese we could find after our original place closed on Boston Rd. They have good duck sauce.... I am particular Staff is friendly and offered contactless delivery. We have eaten teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, boneless ribs, egg roll, veg roll, lo mein, San tay chicken, crab Rangoon. We have been happy with all of it. Food was prepared and cooked very well, all dishes had a verity of fresh vegetables not often encountered in your average run of the mill Chinese American restaurant. I am staying next door at the Holiday Inn and decided I wanted some Chinese for dinner. I walked over and entered the restaurant. There was no one dining in, which kind of scared me. But I though it was only 5:30. The woman at the front desk was in the phone taking an order and I patiently waited to place mine. Finally after 3 more phone calls she took mine. I ordered Togo with a beer while I waited. The phone rang like 5 more times and two ppl came in for take out. They knew each other's names l. One gentleman sat down next to me and assured me that the food was very good. After all those phone calls and the nice man telling me it was good I got Mack to my hotel and started to eat. We used to order from Gung Ho on a regular basis. The food was always fresh, delicious Chinese food, and the delivery driver was very friendly. Recently, maybe in the last 6 months or so, we've only ordered maybe 3 times tops because the food has been very hit or miss. Sometimes it's average and other times it's greasy and flavorless. Today was particularly bad. We ordered a large house fried rice, gold fingers, and beef teriyaki. The rice, which usually has a fair amount of shrimp, chicken, and pork, had literally two pieces of shrimp and very little meat. It was mostly just rice, and it tasted like it. The gold fingers were soggy and greasy. The beef teriyaki were the greasiest of all three items. Nothing tasted like it was seasoned. Everything was just bland. It makes me sad to see Gung Ho do downhill. Before it was Gung Ho, it was called Hung Lee, and as a kid I would go with my family or get delivery quite often. It was the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life, and everyone we brought there agreed. When those owners retired, and the restaurant reopened as Gung Ho, the food was good - though not the same. This place used to be really good and clean when the original owner ran the place. However someone else is running the place and it has turned into a dump. The carpeting is disgusting and looks like noone does any house keeping anymore. It seems to have turned into a day care center with the kids that are running around in there. My orders have been messed up on a few occasions. Either the wrong items were packed or I get shorted the amount to food thats suppose to come in the order. Ordered the Garlic Chicken. The chicken tasted strange, and I worried that it was spoiled, so I didn't eat it. I love good Asian food. I eat Asian out 3-4 times a week. I love this place! Since my family lives in Ludlow, sometimes after visiting, I would head over here to get my sushi or steamed chicken & veg fix. They're sushi is pretty good considering it's a Chinese restaurant. I hear they may also prepare the sushi with brown rice. I often get steamed chicken with mixed veg and brown rice, as they have brown rice and in my opinion, far better tasting than most other Chinese restaurants I've gone to. When this place first opened up, you were lucky to get your order on time. Since then, things have calmed a bit. Your order comes quick, too!!
