My wife and I have visited Thailand many times, always in the company of friends who lived and worked there. So, our food experiences were local and authentic. When we visited with family in town, we made a point for lunch to try out Blue Elephant. What a great idea! The quality of the food brought us back to Bangkok. We went for some standard dishes - tofu triangles, chicken pad thai, etc. and etc. - and they were all first rate. The wait staff were wonderful. The first time I dined at Blue Elephant was on a Tuesday lunch break. I figured it'd be the perfect spot to grab a nice bite before heading back to work. Fast forward to a rainy Saturday evening, and I thought maybe the crowd wouldn't be too bad. Wishful thinking! I was craving good Thai food, so I decided to give it a go. We arrived just before 6 p.m., and to my surprise, it was standing room only. The staff greeted me with familiar smiles, and a waitress asked if I had reservations. I laughed and said, "Oops!" She chuckled and seated us within two minutes. We all looked at each other in awe. "No worries," she said, "you'll be just fine." The restaurant was buzzing with activity. The first thing I noticed was that it was the perfect time to see how the food and service would hold up under pressure. After placing our order with Mina, I realized I was witnessing what could only be described as organized chaos-- the place was packed, yet the staff kept smiling and delivering top-notch service. We ordered a variety of dishes: chicken coconut soup, shrimp Tom Yum soup, crispy duck with Penang curry (my favorite), crab rangoons, shrimp pad Thai, an appetizer sampler, basil fried rice, and Thai tea. Each dish was fantastic, and Mina, our waitress, was amazing. I wasn't the least bit surprised. Since moving here from Florida, Blue Elephant has quickly become my favorite place to indulge my cravings. I'm taking a weekend staycation up in Springfield, MA at a beautiful 1890's Victorian loaded with antiques. There are clocks everywhere including a bunch in my room. I'm having a Thai craving after enjoying a pint of Coconut soup (takeout) from Sukhothai in Manchester, CT. You gotta love the name of this place. This is my first time ordering from this restaurant. Per the restaurant: "Blue Elephant Restaurant creates authentic Thai food, including traditional and modern dishes. Our menu features a variety of options everyone will love. Explore the staple meals of Bangkok at Blue Elephant Restaurant. From delicious appetizers to sweet desserts, come taste a culinary experience! We keep our cooking processes and recipes as original as possible. We include as many dishes as possible to emphasize real flavors and cater to various spice tolerances." It is located at 2000 Boston Rd. in Wilbraham, MA. The menu can be found on their website: https://www.blueelephantma.net/thai-menu . For my first item, I'm having the "Soft Roll." This is made with shrimp (chicken for me via special request), mint, carrot, green leaves and basil leaves in rice vermicelli wrapped and served with peanut sauce. Well, they are a bit smaller than normal and they left out the chicken but are otherwise very good. I like the it's nut sauce. Next up, I'm having their Tom Kja Gai which is made with chicken, mushrooms, scallion, cilantro in a coconut soup. This is good! It's hot and very tasty! Not everyone is used to end aftertaste of this soup. Next up, I'm having the Larb Gai. This is a spicy chicken salad made with chili powder, roasted rice powder, red onions, mint and scallions with Thai chili-lime dressing served with sticky rice. This has a lot of chicken. Yes, it is spicy. I'm not eating the sticky rice for now. There's a lot to eat here. For my entree, I'm having the Pad Khing made with shredded ginger, onions, bell peppers, scallions and Shitake mushrooms in a ginger sauce. Chicken for me. It's nice and hot. They got the brown rice right, but it's not very spicy. It is quite good though! For dessert, I'm having the Mango With Sweet Sticky Rice. This is a favorite of mine. The favorite dessert of Thailand - sweet sticky rice topped with coconut cream and served with fresh mango. Sorry about the photo. I ate it a bit too quickly. It is very good! We finally checked this place out after hearing it is the best Thai food around. Absolutely delicious - every bite. We started with a Thai coffee and Thai iced tea and then had the Pad Ka Prao Kai Khai-Dow and Panang Curry with Crispy Duck. Service was friendly and attentive and drinks arrived quickly. The Pad Ka Prao Kai Khai-Dow is described as "Thai basil with minced chicken, bell peppers and onions served with jasmine rice and a fried egg on top!" We got it with sticky rice and it was fabulous. Nice and spicy with a healthy feel. Plenty left over for a repeat meal at dinner. The Panang Curry with Crispy Duck is admittedly the priciest version of the Panang, but we were glad we made the choice. The crispy duck was a little different is style than we are used to but don't let that fool you - it is fabulous and the combo of flavors amazing. I had this with the brown rice as my concession to healthy and the combo worked great as the substantial curry can handle brown rice. Again we had leftovers of this one that served for lunch today. The restaurant was comfortable with nice booth seats and light but tasteful decor. The weather was dreary when we went but they also seem to have several good outdoor tables. read more

Stopped here for dinner as I was famished. Nice little setup inside - good for a date night or just a quiet evening by yourself. I had the money bags as an app which was absolutely deelish (maybe a little on the bland side but still awesome nonetheless with the sauce). Had the basil chicken rice- where the rice came in a curry flavor (that was a first for me) - very spicy too. Would have preferred to have regular non-curried flavored / fried rice instead, but still tasted great. A wonderful experience & Id not hesitate to come back again. I don't know if it's because they're the closest Thai restaurant to me, or if I find them particularly tasty. Either way, they have yet to disappoint. I've come to Blue Elephant a few times since they've opened and though I tend to order the same thing (Pad Prik Pow, extra spicy (DON'T, if you can't handle that kind of heat)), my most recent visit I ordered a special and it was equally as amazing. Recently got take out from this establishment. The food was ok. The Pad see- ew was very very mushy the time we got it home. My family loves the garlic sauce with beef. It had lots of pea pods and baby corn in the mixture. The crispy spring rolls were also a huge hit! The pineapple rice and Thai dumplings we ok. I wish the prices were displayed online so I would have some idea how much I was paying before ordering. We did curbside pick up which was nice and easy. read more

This place is obviously really popular. You might want to make a reservation. They were even sold out of a few menu items. They found room for me at the bar, which was fine and I could still get dinner. The staff at the bar were friendly and helpful. The food is really great. I'm actually not fond of spicy, so they recommended the garlic sauce dish, which was a good choice. I had it with duck which always makes me happy. I finished with the Thai custard with whipped cream and coconut, delicious. One small issue, their parking is a mess. I was in a row that got blocked by a car in the wrong place, in the rain. It took a bit to get unblocked. They need better signs or something. But it was still a very nice place and a good dinner. read more

Solid Thai in an area with few options! Definitely prefer to Thai Palace and Saigon Garden. Definitely skip the veggie dumplings- bland and small- and summer rolls had also very little flavor but the Tom Yum soup was out of this world!!! Shrimp were huge and plump. We tried Blue Elephant for the 1st time recently & we are both looking forward to returning! Due to Covid, it was only outdoor seating but we were grateful the were open & would love to return when able to sit inside as we've both had back surgeries & have great difficulty sitting on harder chairs ( no fault of restaurants, just our handicap). Seating was spaced well & it was a breezy, enjoyable atmosphere. Our waitress was so sweet & prices were very reasonable for the portions served. I LOVE Noodles in Northampton & this soup rivaled theirs, it was phenomenal!! Can't wait to try more :)) read more

I am a little late writing this review... but this place hasn't left my mind. I took my mom for her birthday and was not disappointed. First of all, the space is so clean and detail oriented. If you're concerned about covid, this place offers a dinning experience that will make you feel safe and taken care of. They also offer outdoor dinning! I can't say enough about the wonderful staff. EVERYONE is kind. They treat you like they are truly so happy to have you there. They brought out a complimentary dessert for my mom for her birthday - which she LOVED and was a more than generous portion. Our server was knowledgeable & paid special attention to my moms vegetarian diet. The food was DELICIOUS & didn't make you feel gross after eating! Let me say right out of the gate both my dishes were solid 4 stars. The Tom Kha Gai was slightly different than others I've had it wasn't quite as rich with coconut flavor but it was very very good. My Pad Kae Mau with tofu and vegetables was excellent dimished only by the fact that the kitchen was out of the broad noodles, hmm it was only 5pm. So why only three stars, mainly due to a couple of service and communication issues between staff and the kitchen. The soup I ordered which normally arrives within 10 to 15mins of ordering took 25mins. That remains a mystery as I was the only one seated at the bar eating and only one table of 2 was in the dining area. There were, however; a couple of take out orders picked up while I was waiting for my order. A minute after the soup arrived the Pad Kae was placed in front of me, naturally it became somewhat cool as I labored with the soup. After dispatching the Tom Kha , I called the waiter over to inquire why there was no broad noodles, he and another official looking lady came over; she remarked, "Oh we are out of the broad noodles, I thought your server told you". Perhaps that information might have been handled in a different manner, another customer, had they been told up front about the broad noodle kitchen crisis, might have wished to order something different. I'm pretty laid back and always cut kitchen folk some slack but this was a bit of a bumpy first ride at this newly opened resto. These were some basic structural customer service issues that might have been finessed in an altogether different manner. Having said all this I wouldn't hesitate to return as I think the food quality and flavor is worthy of another visit. read more

When I saw the new sign a few weeks ago I got so excited and knew I had to try this place for takeout. Got some tonight, and it didn't disappoint. Very cute place inside, and the wait staff was very friendly. My order was ready fast, waiting for me when I picked it up. I ordered the vegetable dumplings and pad Thai. The dumplings are great-- the ginger soy sauce and the cilantro on top add a fresh touch. I love cilantro so much-- it elevated these dumplings! Pad Thai seems pretty standard-- I ordered it with chicken, but I've been craving it lately so it tasted really good. I wanted to try their wonton soup, but they had run out. Next time it will be drunken noodles, more dumplings, and soup! Looking forward to eating in as well. read more

Hands down the best Thai food in this area. The restaurant is oddly placed in a mini mall area but don't be fooled. They have a lovely outdoor seating area with flowers, etc. The indoor restaurant is also beautiful. I imagine the long bar is filled with patrons into the night. Now the food. I have been several times at this point. We moved here from DC and NY so I basically gave up on Thai here. BUT Everything I have gotten has been fresh, authentic, and amazing -right down to my kids fried ice cream that was not greasy at all. That's hard to do. My wife and I stopped at Blue Elephant today for lunch. My wife has never tried Thai food before and the last Thai restaurant I dined in was back in Tucson many many years ago. The place was absolutely busy, no tables available (which is great for a local business) so we sat at bar. Pam, the waitress who seated us was smiling, happy, and very friendly. The atmosphere was certainly inviting and aromas eminating from the kitchen were mouth watering. As I mentioned my wife has not had Thai food before. We ordered a pair of appetizers- Satay Beef and Curry Puffs. The Satay Beed had four skewers of seared beef that had so much flavor and was served with creamy peanut sauce and a cucumber sauce which were the perfect accompaniment to the beef. The four Curry Puffs were large puff pastry filled with a savory curried potato and scallion filling. The texture, and flavors had a really nice mouth feel. Both were the ideal size to split for two. For our main meal we split an order of Beef Pad Thai. It was delicious, best I have had in a really long time. We finished of our meal with two desserts- Thai Custard and Thai Coconut Ice Scream. I've not had Thai Custard before. It was really good, reminiscent of pumpkin pie. The coconut ice cream is a favorite and the perfect finish to a phenomenal lunch. Highly recommend Blue Elephant for the best Thai food in the region. read more

Had lunch here with my daughter for the first time. The restaurant was clean and organized. Tables are spacious and well decorated. Each table had fresh cut flowers which really impressed me, great touch. All of the staff were pleasant and attentive. I ordered the Pad Thai and my daughter ordered the Drunken Noodles. Both dishes came hot and popping with color from the fresh vegetables and other ingredients. The flavors were amazing and we both regretted not ordered what each other had! The flavors were spot on and so robust and fresh. One of my life's best eating experiences. I am so looking forward to our next lunch date there! read more
