We were given a print out menu that we could mark all the items we're interested in. We started with soup and salad. I got the Egg Drop soup and the Seaweed Salad. The Egg Drop soup was very hot, tasty and satisfying. I also enjoyed the Seaweed Salad. It was fresh, but a tiny portion. Unfortunately, this is where the good ends. The sushi wasn't good. It was all flat, flavorless, and without any standouts. This was very disappointing. I guess I can see why their prices are lower, because their quality is lacķing.

It had aromatics and not too heavy with oil like some places are. The General Tso chicken was really great. Light breading and quality meat. It didn't have a crunch to it, but that also meant it wasn't overly breaded and fried. Sometimes that make a dish feel too heavy and gross after. Overall, fair prices for quality food. The hot & sour soup was delicious, although it's not the original SiChuan style. It substituted the signature day lily buds to golden needle mushrooms instead. It appears to be the Fuzhou style where the owner & chef are from, nonetheless, it's still very tasty. The Thai eggplants didn't come with any meat. I didn't know it's a vegetarian dish until it's too late, would have preferred to add some beef to it. The flavor was good but it's just too greasy, it sits in a puddle of oil as you can see from the photo. There are ways to make it less greasy but it takes efforts. Efforts take time & time is money, Apparently, this was something not worthy of improving when I brought it up. I kind of understand it but also felt disappointed at the same time. The second lunch visit, i ordered my favorite Japanese dish Unagi Don, I.e. Grilled eel on rice. I was more disappointed than the first time. The eel was barely warm, from the taste & texture, I felt it was precooked & microwaved upon order. The eel sauce was subpar & the slight fishiness further supports my suspension. This is a subpar Unagi Don experience unfortunately. I don't feel so bad now on giving it 3 star. I may return one more time to try out their sushi sashimi offerings, however, not in a any rush & not getting my hopes up either.

It is not much for this bill that I am discussing, however it is not the only time and can add up. On July 2, 2026, I had placed an order for a pick up. The order was for Beef with mushrooms and a choice of white or brown rice. I had chosen brown rice. The order was $13.95. When I arrived to pick it up, the price was $17.07. When I questioned , the charge, we had a discussion about a $2.00 charge for brown rice. The choice was on the menu, nothing about an extra charge. The woman basically did not want to hear it and explained that there a a different way to cook brown rice. It did not taste great. She did not go by the guest is right ritual. Nothing I could do since I had already paid. This is not the first time that Jack Chen had done this, there was a time about a delivery charge and a tip etc, I don't have the receipt so I will not get into that. There was a time I had went to order and my order was only like 12 and change, The woman on the phone said oh no you have to order more we don't deliver until it's 13 dollars. Of course I did not order. My wife used to do all the ordering and picking up until recently, so if she had put up with this boy oh boy, could you imagine? We had been customers for many of years. January 2 was the last time that I will step foot into that place Don't get me wrong. The food is decent and sometimes actually real good, depending on what you order. Below are a couple of pictures of the proof showing that I had an option and the receipt that I had to pay an extra two dollars for rice. I did not get an apology. I did not get a deduction. I did not get anything except the food that I ordered, so in my opinion that is just outright ripping me off so make sure that you check your bill each time. I call them back and was given multiple excuses. Maybe the health department and ICE should pay them a visit. There are too many Chinese restaurants in the area for poor service and over priced takeout.
