I've been coming here with Long more than 5 yrs she's the best. The only one I trust with my pedicures.

I came here after seeing some reviews about this place on google! but I didn't know that the manager would ask you to write those lying reviews and get a $5 discount! Horrible service and I paid 55$ for nothing here!! NEVER COME BACK! read more

Unethical business practices. Went there for a full set and ended up with a technician that I believe was one of the managers. She was pushy about me getting the powder polish, which I don't care for because it's overpriced. I politely told her that I don't like my nails thick. She got an attitude and rush though it and I wasn't happy with her work. Three days later I returned to have someone else re-file my nails and change the color. The new technician waited until she was done to tell me the cost was $40. Three days prior I paid $40 for a new set. So, I asked the guy who manages the front desk and payments why a color change and file was $40 he wouldn't answer. This is unacceptable and bad business to intentionally take advantage and over charge. I feel violated, one because I've patronized this establishment many times for 2 years. I am reporting Gulfgate Nails for mishandling certain customers. read more

Very clean I been here a few times and like it !!affordable compared to other places I recommend this place

Used to go there regularly until recently when they cheated me out of money. I always get a dip powder manicure which they charge $45. One day I was went and the tech I like was off so I went to someone else. I was charged $52. I have no problem paying for my services but don't try to cheat me. And I also tip always and tip well (20% minimum). I asked the person that was ringing me up why was it so much did the price go up and he replied yes. Ok fine. 2 weeks later I return and the tech I usually go to is back and I'm charged $45 for the SAME EXACT SERVICE I do every 2 weeks and the 2 weeks prior, which is a dip powder manicure. Just to note, I keep my nails short for work and don't do any design. So I ask the man ringing me up (it's always the same guy) why was I charged $7 more the 2 weeks prior. He plays dumb like he doesn't know what I am speaking of. He then tells me that the techs make they're own price and I need to work it out with them. So why tell me that the price went up instead of telling me to speak with the tech that charged me $52. What disgusted me was his absolute disregard and disrespectful way of handling me and the situation. It's only $7 but I will go spend that somewhere else where people are honest and my business is appreciated. I told them I will never be back and I stand on that! read more

This place needs to be closed tf down! They are so unwelcoming and rough on your feet and hands ! They always seem i be upset or have an attitude when working on you. I went for a simple polish change on the feet and the lady kept saying I need a pedicure when I didn't want one. She proceeded to drill the dead skin off leaving it still around the mail instead of pulling it off she starts to polish over it leaving my nails to look sloppy and nasty with dead skin hanging off . I told her I'll la extra to remove it and she got so upset and kept saying she cannot because I can only have that done with a pedicure which is a big lie . In conclusion she ended up doing it and still did a piss poor job. Never come here they will mess something up on your hands or feet I promise you read more

so went in with my best friend to Gulfgate Nail Spa. everything was going good until we were checking out. First lady asked if we wanted one or two tickets best friend said one , and they gave two tickets anyways Best friend said she was paying for both from the start and repeated again Second I gave best friend my ticket the front desk person saw this and then I walked out . Three of their employees come chasing me down outside accusing me of not paying. my best friend see this and comes and say she is paying for both and that the guy at the front saw me give her my ticket. Then the front desk guy pocketed the techs tips that she left for techs. I understand there are crappy people in the world but more questions should be asked before you accuse people of theft when their own employees are stealing. Definitely wouldn't recommend going to this place read more

Heard of this place and decided to give it a shot. My experience there was absolutely wonderful. Had a mani/pedicure and was very pleased with the professional service. Tina did a fantastic job on my ombre powder nails, the prices are reasonable and satisfactory. I Will definitely be a regular here. read more

Maybe i went to the wrong person, everyone in a nail salon can't do nails, but this is hideous!! I showed her a picture and let's just say it is NOTHING like the picture. Nail glue is all over my hand. I still paid for the service although it was incomplete and not what I wanted. Will never be back again. read more

Came here for a Medicare and a pedicure and the lady who did my nails and toes did a phenomenal job

I really like how my toe nails came out. Service was not so great. Very unorganized, but they are quick with their service. They started my water and it was burning hot I had to tell them twice to lower the temp. When they did the hot towels on my legs those were also super hot. I'm 50/50 because both my toes and moms came out really good read more

Gulfgate Nails & Spa has really changed drastically over the years while doing business with this establishment! The level of respect and passion has declined but there love for monies has waxed greater and greater. In addition, I witnessed this establishment failed to sterilize equipments used, failed to demonstrate proper hand-washing while some nail technicians reused the same gloves after each clients. This business is unhealthy and not safe. I will definitely contact OSHA at 1-800-321-OSHA (6742). My go-to spot for a pedicure. I liked the way my toes came out. The techs always do a good job. It's a bit loud and disorganized in there but the fact that I've never had to wait for my pedicure definitely makes up for it. I've never gotten any other services done, so can't speak on that. The techs are friendly enough and I've never felt like the job is rushed. read more

I had an appointment for 2 pedicures and a refill for my nails. They completed the pedicures and then told me that there was no one there to do my nails. There was another customer who said was not coming back. Due to Poor Customer Service. I give nice tips and have never asked for anything for free. They also said they don't know how to get a hold to the owner. Well maybe The Cosmetology Board can reach the owner. read more

I'm really happy with the service at this nail shop. I typically stop on after work and in a rush. They always have plenty of techs available and are quick to sit you down and get you taken care of. No complaints. Great prices as well $$. Today I had a shellac mani in color Pink Pearl with tech named Rose. Thank you! read more

I asked for a simple full set, short white nails. The lady kept pushing and pushing for either glitter or some type of design. I understand they want me to spend more, but stop asking. I asked if the powder color was the only white they had because I could see my nail color through most of the nails. She then grabbed my hands and started putting shellac over them. I didn't say anything, when she was done I was just disappointed. This place might be great but my nails are not. read more

They don't even deserve one star. I always come here just because it's convenient for me but to be honest I'm never fully satisfied. Still I decided to give them one more chance. I went on a Tuesday for a pedicure and mani with shellac. To start off the shellac was not even even, I could see streaks on my nails. The lady told me it would be $44 for everything and when it was time to pay she changed it to $59. Anyway I paid and left. When I got home after two hours I decided to put my shoes on and go to the store. When I got back my polish was all ruined. The next day my shellac started chipping. I went back 4 days later because of work and the owner did not want to fix it without charging me saying "I'm only charging you half price" after I had already paid for the service. Didn't even care that the work wasn't even done right. Never going back read more

My nails were nice and lasted but the fact that they have pulled off the entire layer of my natural nails worries and pains me literally... I don't know why the glue is basically indestructible but now my nails are weak and ugly and I should've known better. Save money and go to a tech who cares for the customer and their nail health. I have patronized this establishment for more than 2 years now and have never experienced what happened to me 4 days ago. This group is unethical in their business practices. I came in for a new set of nails, one of the older technicians (maybe one of the managers) serviced me. I politely informed her that I do not like my nails thick and prefer them thinner. She immediately got an attitude. When she was done, I paid her $40 and a tip although I was not happy with her work. Three days later I returned to have my nails filed down more and change the color. I had another technician who waited until she completed my nails to tell me the cost was $40. I asked the guy who works the front desk and manage payments why was a color change and file $40, he wouldn't respond. Do not use this group, the are bias to certain people and overcharge intentionally. Bad business!!! read more

Visiting family in Houston from out of town & my MIL suggested this nail salon. Let's just say... never will I come back here again! Not friendly and the lady who did my mani/pedi was very rough & didn't even give me the full service I requested. I asked for the Deluxe Pedicure and she did mostly everything except massage with lotion. She wiped some lotion on my legs (didn't even rub it in) and then wrapped the VERY HOT towels around my leg. It was like burning hot... I had to unwrap it from my legs. She was very rough on my toes, when pushing the cuticles back she pushed very hard and if hurt my toes so much they are sore & red today. Then moved on to the manicure... again she was very rough and made my pinky bleed and couldn't get it to stop bleeding because she pushed too hard and too deep. Today my toes & finger nails are hurting & red! This experience was not relaxing at all, and although cheaper than usual, I can see why!! While doing my manicure, she had an issue with her gloves so she just took them off. Usually this wouldn't bother me (even with COVID) BUT.... she had a nasty cut on her finger and the cut was open (you could see a bloody scab along the cut and where her skin was flapping up). The cut was right under my finger and so disgusting!! I wanted to ask her to put her gloves back on but she was not friendly or nice at all and I didn't want to cause a scene. I wish I had taken a picture of her finger. Overall, she did a very poor job and I left with streaks on my fingernails and today the polish is peeling off my toes. Granted, I didn't get gel on my toes but they usually last 1-2 weeks with very minimal peeling!! This salon is a JOKE and don't waste your time or money. read more

My coworker suggested I visit this place and I'm glad I did. I've lived in Houston for 3 years now and this is my first time exploring the south east side of town. Gulfgate nails was very clean and plenty of techs to take care of you. I came in as soon as the shop open for a pedicure. The prices for the pedicures were very reasonable and they offered a variety of services. With plenty of chairs and looks like this shop was recently remodeled, I think I found my newest nail shop. The team here was so nice and I didnt feel rushed while getting my pedicure. The facility was very sanitary and clean. I love my pedicure and will definitely be returning! Bianca read more

I honestly dislike this salon. I have them two try's but I think that was one too many. I went there 2 weeks ago and 2 days later my nails started coming off. Went back again today the same thing I paid $37 for last week they charged me $50 for today. That makes no sense. The guy at the front desk told me one price for my lashes but ended up charging me and extra $15and still couldn't tell me why I had to pay $15 extra. I will not be going back! Be careful with this place!! read more

I dislike not being able to communicate in Vietnamese nor was there anyone to help translate. Tell me, why would I pay for something, $45 instead of $35 for something the lady suggested. The $35 dollar packages contained more than the lady did and I'm furious. Just because you used what was in the box incorrectly is t my problem not does using the product in a box make it more expensive. I'm so furious. Make sure you get someone to clarify and do t let them push you into doing stuff. I'm furious and upset! read more

This was my first time having service done at this salon and I personally did not have the best experience. I did not appreciate the constant up-selling my assigned worker was trying to persuade me into doing, after having politely declined her many times. Every time I told her I just wanted basic packages, she would try to justify her answer saying "it was needed" and would proceed to just go ahead with the more expensive services without my permission! I noticed that many of the customers were treated the exact same way while I was there and do not believe it was right on their part as a company. To top it off, it was probably one of the worst pedicures I have received as it was very rushed and my polish was done very sloppy. read more

I was in the area and figure I would get my nails done . The place is unorganized , dirty and their service is horrible . Please don't go here, you will waste your money . I paid over $100 and I hate everything . I got a pedicure and the equipment she was using didn't look sanitized. Then she start cutting my nails did it way too short. That wasn't the worst part, she was digging in my nails horrible and it was so painful claiming she was trying to find the ingrown nail . Keep in my mind I go get pedicures every 2 weeks and I didn't have any ingrown nails she wanted to do that to every single toe . On top of that she burned me with the warm towels . So unprofessional and then when I told her to stop she just said ok but kept going. The other ladies that work there were sleeping in the pedicure chairs. The place looks dirty they had the door open the whole time I was there . Then I got my hands done and that was horrible too . The guy applied the smallest amount of powder keep in mind I had to tell him multiple times to go back and fix it . He didn't do a good job at all. It's funny how they want to charge expensive for their services but can't provide at least a decent job . PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE . read more

First time coming here get the same pedicure as my sister. Already rough to begin with she hurt me with the drill when taking off my shellac and just aggressive in general. She didn't massage my feet as a normal pedicure, it literally felt like she just rinsed and started my new polish. She charged me 45 for a service that wasn't good at all. I seen the sign says discount for a yelp review. I did my review and he says no it has to be 5 stars in order to get a discount. I explained my service and he just says well you need to put 5 stars for you to get $5 off. Don't go here unless you want a shitty service. Regardless if you get a shitty service they will not help you. Owner is unprofessional as well, didn't handle the situation right. read more

The worst nail salon I've ever been to .. horrible service, moved me to three chairs when all I asked for were WHITE Nails!! They didn't even file off the access acrylic from my previous set, lady was on the phone the whole time ordering a fucking pizza instead of paying attention on what numbers(size) nail the other guy put on so she put completely wrong numbers and asked me if I wanted to moved to another chair to remove them .. and then to leave me like this.. I go to the nail shop to relax not to be panhandled. I came in asking for a regular $27 pedicure and she continues attempting to pressure me into getting a $45 pedicure despite me telling her Countless times that I didn't want it. I finally get her to understand that I won't be getting the $45 pedicure & She then basically forces me to get shellac ($10 more) bc at this point I'm tired of her begging me to get it and she claims they don't have the color I want in regular polish. As if her other annoyances weren't enough she continues asking me if I want other services done (manicure, eyebrow wax, etc.) like girl LEAVE ME ALONE AND JUST DO WHAT I ASKED BEFORE I DONT LET YOU DO THAT. Very annoying. Definitely my last time coming back. PS: I don't think they use sterile tools, as I watched her just pull her tools out of an old marshals bag 0/10 would not recommend. Oop there's also an employee in the back hacking up his lungs. Couldn't get outta here & in my shower fast enough read more

I have been to this location three times. The first time was enjoyable and I really liked the service. My nails were really good and lasted a while. The second time was horrific. I went on a Wednesday and by that Saturday 7/10 nails had fallen off. I wasn't being rough, one of them came of in my sleep, another while I was tying my shoe. I called and he said they'd take care of it. I went back on Saturday and they did the nails and I had them change my toe polish to match, only for it to peel off, because the color went with my previous nails. He tried to charge me $50 and I ended up having to pay $40 after an argument. Today, my nail, from the new set, is broken. read more

I used to go to this salon a few years back when I was a student at UH. It was convenient as it has affordable prices, closes late and was close to campus. And nothing has changed! Needed a refill, I was in the area, so it was meant to be for me to revisit. I got there around 10:30 AM, so I was quickly seated and received great customer service. I actually relaxed and enjoyed watching the tv as there wasn't much going on. My nails came out perfect too! I never had a problem going here up until today... not sure what it was but when I came into get a manicure and pedicure the lady who was attending me ended up making me bleed from my toenail, not only that I understand that hot towels and hot wax are part of the pedicure treatment but this time it was SUPER HOT that I felt my face turn red! To make matters worse after she was done with the pedicure, she started to work on the manicure which for the most part it looks like she just tried to rush as fast as she could to get me out! Unfortunately on my index finger she made me bleed again! I would post pictures however not sure if it's against a community guidelines to post blood /: ! This will probably be my last time coming again! I guess it's more important for them to get customers in and out instead of actually paying attention to detail! read more

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! I went in for a manicure and it was the worst experience. I had shellac from a previous manicure still on my nails and the manicurist scrapped it off with a file. Then she took 45 minutes to file my nails after I already told her I was on a time limit because I was on my lunch break. None of my nails were even, half were square and the other half were rounded.
