I'm still a fan of Maldives. It's close to me and right next to the pilates studio I go to (Vera) so it's incredibly convenient. Weekday walk-ins are a breeze, along with first thing on weekend mornings. Don't delay! I'm not loyal to any particular technician because I only get pedis these days. The most basic Pedi is $41 and $5 extra for that French tip lewk. Don't go hungry because they're always playing DELICIOUS Asian food videos on the big screen. Haha read more

Maldives unfortunately was a little disappointing. I stopped by for a basic pedicure without an appointment, after calling to confirm availability, just after they opened and had a wait a couple of minutes before I was seen. This was no problem. I had meant to make an appointment online but had lost track of time and appreciated the fact that they could still accommodate the walk in. After sitting down in the chair, the nail technician handed me a menu and asked what type of pedicure I wanted. I'm a very low maintenance nail girl and only wanted the very basic "spa pedicure" listed on their website for $34 but unfortunately this isn't offered. The most basic they offer is the "deluxe" for $41. Alright, whatever. I'm used to selecting a bottle of polish before sitting down in the chair but here they hand you a ring of color samples as soon as you sit down. This should have been a red flag but again, I wouldn't consider myself super well-versed in the nail spa world, and went with it. I selected a very light purple color, 272 pixie, and the nail tech continued with the normal operations, cuticle trim, nail file, soak, foot callus treatment, hot stones, and short leg massage. I'm fairly particular about hygiene and noticed that she used what looked like a literal metal cheese grater on my heels which ended up thrown back into the cart when she was done. My feet may need a little TLC but I'm not sure how well this is getting cleaned between uses. Another observation on hygiene is that their massage chair controllers are wrapped in several layers of plastic wrap which was worn and does not appear to have been changed or wiped down in some time. This defeats the purpose of a disposable barrier. Finally, I also noticed ants crawling on the floor near my foot bowl basin and also in the corner of the business by the waiting area. Eeek. Cleanliness could be improved. Finally on to the last step polish. After the first coat I noticed that to my surprise, the color was a bubble gum pink, not the purple that I had hoped for. The nail tech asked whether it was ok and I told her I wasn't pleased and had hoped for a shade closer to purple. She stated the bottle was new and the nail sample ring was old so they might not match and also the nail sample ring is for gel when I was getting regular polish. I went ahead and selected a new color more purple than I would normally select and it was much better, however she seemed disgruntled to have to accommodate the change and just painted over the pink with the new color. After completing the top coat I was left to dry for an extended period of time that I ended up just getting up and heading to the register to pay and leave. read more

I really wanted to give this place a try and today was my second attempt and they failed miserably. I called today because I needed a new set. The guy that answered said they had availability now and I told him I'm en route. I get there I'm not acknowledged by any staff member. Initially, my service was great and went well. My technician was friendly and worked quickly. However, within a week, my nails cracked, and the dip started to chip. I also noticed that the edges were lifting, suggesting she hadn't filed them correctly. I called to report the issue, and they offered to have me come back in for a fix. While I didn't expect a completely new set, I at least expected my nails to look better. Unfortunately, that was not the case. All she did was file off the top coat and reapply the shellac. The same cracks in the polish reappeared later that day. When I asked about the durability of the dip, I was told it should only last two weeks--though I usually get 3-4 weeks out of mine. Since I was already at the one-week mark, they said this was all they could do. I had actually called on day three, but by the time I was able to return to the salon, it had been a week. This level of customer service is disappointing. They have a great location and charge at the top of the price range, so they should at least provide quality nail services and properly address any issues. It turns out the problem was due to technician error. I had hoped this could be my go-to salon, but unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

However, after a TERRIBLE experienced today, I am compelled to write this review. I showed up when the salon was not even 1/3rd full. Asked for a regular manicure and was promptly provided a technician. However, this person seemed to be in a rush or had nothing gentle about her approach. She had 5 of my fingers bleed but my thumbs were the worst. She cut off the skin, apologized when I screamed and proceeded to continue like nothing happened. You would think that after making one finger bleed, one would be more cautious but nope! Not only that, then she started chatting with her coworker in their native language, kept tapping my hand, and laughing. My thumbs were still bleeding when I got home. Moved nearby so this is only my second time here and I definitely won't be returning back. Walked in and it was pretty quiet for 4:25pm. I asked for a pedicure, someone was available and got right to work. We sat down then she immediately started using a drill to remove my regular polish on my toes. Anyone who knows me knows I NEVER get anything on my toes besides regular polish. After drilling everything off, she used unwrapped cuticle tools and a nail clipper that were sitting in her basket unwrapped to trim my cuticles and nail down. The final straw was when she didn't file my toenails at all so they were all jagged and uneven from being clipped down. She started applying the polish but was extremely rushed. I was in shock--where was my massage? Why are we skipping straight to polish? How are we at the end stage after only 12 minutes? I finally spoke up and called over a manager who seemed to back her up. She accused me of using gel hence why she used the drill but she hadn't spoken a word to me since I walked in. Bizarre. The lack of communication, and possible frustration at me as a customer is why I would rather drive down to Montrose or Midtown for better service. Take heed ladies! read more

I came in with acrylics but decided I wanted to take them off and do gel since my natural nails underneath were finally grown out. I was very clear once I sat down that I wanted to keep them as long as possible. She cut them and shaped them square without even asking what shape I wanted. I told her once I saw the shape that I wanted oval, and she just cut them shorter but still square. Before she started painting I asked her why she isn't shaping them yet and she told me she already did. I said for my third time that I wanted them oval and she cut them AGAIN. I like fairness and I don't like to get taken advantage of so I will not be coming back. I recently got married and I thought it would be cute to put a small heart on the corner of my ring finger. I bought and brought my own nail stickers in. I wanted to place it on before the last clear coat of shellac. She offered to place the sticker herself which took less than 5 seconds then proceeded to charge me $5 for "nail art". I've done nail art before and I don't mind paying for it when they actually do the work but this was just ridiculous. When I told her that I didn't think that was right and she shouldn't charge me for that she started yelling and getting loud. It was embarrassing to say the least and I was not going to argue about $5 so I just paid it and walked out. Safe to say they will NEVER be getting my business again. i visited 05/09/24 around 11 am and didnt leave until 12:25pm due to how much work was put into my pedicure! This was my second time coming, and i am glad i did! The first time went well but this second time i came in was just phenomenal thanks to James! I love to come during the time when it is not packed to get such great service. I really, really, really wanted to like this nail shop, as it's in my neighborhood. I've been several times and each time I've been sorely disappointed. Lesson learned! The nail tech came from a room in the back. She looked as though she'd been sleeping and barely greeted me. She had a very thick accent and when she asked me a question, I had to ask her to repeat herself a few times, so that I could understand. I don't know if this upset her, but I was genuinely asking for clarity. I have eczema and don't like my hands placed in the acetone bowl. I asked her to use the cotton dipped acetone balls and foil. She was clearly annoyed and put so much acetone on the cotton balls that acetone ran off down my hands, defeating the purpose. She then went back into the room and stayed there for some time. When she came back she used the electric nail drill to take the acrylic off. The acrylic went flying everywhere, especially on my clothes. She cut my cuticle with the drill, smirked and said 'sorry'. She began working on my nails, however the filing was not even. I pointed this out to her and she said that it was. I held up both of my hands and asked that the nails be even With each other. She handed me the nail file and told me to do it myself. I asked her what her name was and she refused to tell me. There was a girl working at the counter and I tried to explain to her what happened. I asked her what the nail tech's name was and she mouthed 'Tina'. I asked another tech to even out my nails and she did. The girl at the desk said that she would tell her manager upon his return. This incident with Tina was the last straw. Even though further out, I've started going to Milano Nails and have never been treated better nor have my nails looked better. read more
