Horrible. I went and request polish change on my toes, cut down and fill in on my nails. Everything was great while being seated., but the lady at the front desk insisted that I get a pedicure and told me that my polish would be ugly on my feet if I didn't get the pedicure because of my cuticles, but I denied and I continue with polish change which my toes are wonderful, but my hands are horrible. The polish instantly started bubbling up once I left the shop within 2 to 3 hours and then I seen my polish coming off of my nails instantly and I chose gel polish which no polish Should do that at all. It is Wednesday morning and I came Monday afternoon to get a pampering for my toes. I paid for the most expensive pedicure service, while also paying extra for gel which most salons charge for. The massage was mediocre at best and they were a bit rough and quick with my feet but when i walked out Monday afternoon my toes looked nice so i thought. Tuesday night after getting off work, 5 out of the 10 toes were smudged and chipped off. I arrived Wednesday morning and let them know the situation in which after 5 mins of questioning they realized they had not dried them throughly, they had a lady come retouch them. She also was rough AF as if it was my fault that the paint didn't dry on GEL!!! She also rechanged the shape of my nails and the paint didn't look even across my toes honestly but i didn't have time to keep going over it. Stopped in for a quick eyebrow and upper lip wax. I've been twice in the past and received the level of service expected. However this time around was much different. The shop wasn't very clean nor tidy - There was a lady in the waxing room eating with her shoes off. I should have left at this point but gave them the benefit of the doubt due to pricing. Eyebrow wax turned out decent; shape was okay and they were a bit skinny but nothing a week or so of growth wouldn't fix. Upper lip wax was standard. However, within 24 hours of my wax, my brow and upper lip areas were extremely inflamed and had tons of tiny pimples. Fast forward today (5 days later) & I'm still struggling with break outs in these areas. I have somewhat sensitive skin but I've been getting waxed for over a decade and have never had a reaction like this. The customer service was okay but I would stay away. Came here for an after work event. I got the basic mani- $18, and basic Pedi $30. I was seated right away, that's a check. But the colors I picked, the nail tech said was too thin to use when she tried, then the other color I picked, the nail polish brush was completely unusable, yikes thats a minus. So she ended up picking out my color. It was an ok choice. At one point there was 3 ladies working on me all at once. Unsure why that was happening, or what the error was. I came around closing (which was my mistake the open sign was on) so I got a very quick manicure. She didn't wait on any layers to dry it was less than a 10 minute job. Although I can't even focus on that because there was a woman (obviously homeless and or on drugs) who needed to come in and use the bathroom at the same time I walked in. The lady said that she needs to be getting a service in order to use the restroom (which is understandable) they proceeded to convince her (she was clearly unable to speak or comprehend the situation) to get a manicure. However they said she had to pay first before. I thought this was a store policy however that rule was not applied to me and I realized how badly they were treating this woman. This woman couldn't speak let alone understand that she was paying for this manicure. After i finished to go pay I asked the woman to let me cover her nails (in hopes they would refund her) she proceeded to say that it could not be done and I left. I was absolutely sick and furious by the obvious racism towards that woman. I will add that she was not causing a problem nor any disruptions. To take advantage of this woman and the state she was in was disgusting to watch. If she really could not use their restroom they simply could have told her no. Disgusting behavior by employees. Person checking me in was visibly upset that I did not want to receive a manicure on top of my pedicure appointment. I was in an accident several months ago so my feet have not been done for awhile as I had on a boot and I explained as I knew it wouldn't be easily but two employees decided to quite literally point at my toes, made jokes and I had to ask them to stop. Will not be patronizing this place for such treatment. My regular pedicurist was on vacation l, but Cindy does my nails and as usual she did a great job! Sometimes people who salon hop come and they don't get regular pedicures and or nails so they have complaints. First of all we don't receive discounts. Further more this business prefers Google; a lot of business say Yelpers are serious! I say as we should be; we give a fair assessment of our experiences on every business. I said that to say this business forgot they have Yelp! Don't worry I reminded them...they will remember our name going forward! People make mistakes and services are sometimes not to our standards, but address the issue and give the business an attempt to rectify the issue. If they don't then give them a low rating, but at least give 'em a chance! The ladies did a great job and I too have experienced a bad polish it a broken nail. Bad polish before they finished; I addressed it and someone else took over. The broken nail, a call was given and I came in and it was fixed. Update: I contacted the salon and they offer a repair within 7 days so I will update my review after my appointment tomorrow at 12! I never write reviews but I am so unhappy that I had to! I am only giving one star for the receptionist at the front who was the only professional person at the shop. I went to do my nails. The tech who was doing them wasn't qualified and everyone agreed it needed to be redone. Multiple people were unhappy with their services and where that's giving refunds because of that. When it was my turn to pay I paid despite my nails looking terrible and they overcharged me and had no regret and making me wait 2 hours for a basic refill and basic pedicure. 30$ for the pedicure and 30$ for the refill and they charged me 80$! keep in mind they put no top coat or even cleaned my nails after filing! Terrible time today and as a Muslim I was fasting (Ramadan) and was kept at the store until the time to break my fast because the techs were fixing their mistakes! They had no consideration for me and their service they just wanted to make sure they were getting paid and it was the worst experience ive had! Never again! read more

Beautiful place and the team here is really sweet. I loved my pedicure and my feet look beautiful. I ended up getting a full set, solar nails with shellac polish. To be, I am not pleased with the end product. My nails ended up being thick and almost bubbly looking. The sweet lady at the front saw my disappointment and offered to help and make it right. I am happy with the quick service however just not happy with how I was constantly asked if I wanted another service. I walked in to get a nail fixed and the women asked me more than once if I want a pedicure after I said no. I don't think it's appropriate to keep asking someone multiple times from multiple people if they want another service other than what they requested. The staff were amiable, efficient and accommodating. A male tech did my pedicure and a lady did my gel manicure. I was surprised at how fast they worked, my pedi/polish looks awesome! The manicure was done well however the gel polish was not good at all, it was not applied evenly..I'd say a sloppy job or the tech needs more experience. Believe it or not, Houston, you can get a mani-pedi INSIDE the loop for under $50. And it all starts at Midtown Retreat. The owner and his girlfriend are incredibly sweet and appreciative of your business, so they cater to your every need. From the outside, the salon/spa seems small, but it's actually rather spacious, holding areas for hair, nails and back rooms for facials, waxing and massages. The decor is made up of Eastern influences, a mixture of Chinese and Japanese furniture and wall decor--some directly imported from the said countries. I got a dip mani and shellac pedicure here . I would say okay at nails here, they up charge for everything . For a dip mani it's 5 dollars extra just to get cuticles cut, which I have never seen . Dip looks okay , there are uneven areas and couple nails have gaps on side . Pedicure was very subpar even for the "upgraded" one , wouldn't recommend paying for this. This place is within 2 minutes from my condo, so it was convenient and the staff was pleasant. I could pop by any time I had some unexpected down time & they were always accommodating. Thus, I've been coming here for that last few months for my semi-routine pedicures. I usually get their signature pedicure that includes the paraffin wax. The service was nothing to write home about, but I had no complaints. Until today. The lady that helped me could not understand English AT ALL, which would have been fine if she just let someone interpret for us. I mean, my parents are immigrants too; I get that language can be a barrier. But no, she nodded & said "ok" when I asked for her to cut down my nails, then said "later" when I asked a second time because she started filing. Filing painfully, I might add - the front of my toe is tender from her going to town on my SKIN. It happens sometimes... moving on. She then starts to clean my nails. Pretty standard... until she stabs me with the pointy tool under my nail. Y'know.. that really painful spot where the nail meets the flesh. I yelp (pun not intended) & THEN someone shows up to interpret. She tells them that she was trying to get rid of an ingrown. Mind you, I do get ingrowns on that toe, but it wasn't at the time. And it definitely wasn't ingrown smack dab in the middle of my toe where she stabbed me. To the lady's credit, she did apologize & changed her technique to handling me like a porcelain egg. Except that does nothing for me when she is very gingerly using the callous remover on my foot, and lightly rubbing my leg during the massage. Now it stings when I put my foot in the water & when she sprays it down with just about anything, so I decide against the paraffin wax. It's supposed to be pampering; why do it if it'll just cause more discomfort? So she goes about finishing the now-basic pedicure. I just let her do her thing, because I'm tired of the interruptions. She starts to get the polish out, but WAIT. She still hasn't cut down my nails that she said she would do "later." This time I flag down another staff member to interpret because I don't trust this lady at all anymore. Im guessing the other staff member might be the manager because she apologizes & offers me a paraffin wax... y'know the service I just said I don't want anymore because it would be more painful than pleasurable. I explain to her it hurt to have my toe in the warm water, so I can't imagine hot paraffin would be better. She said "ok it's up to you." At the end of it all, I did leave a meager tip because I figure people still gotta make a living in this pandemic. But I walked out of there with more than a sour taste in my mouth. The combined lack of concern & poor response has me looking for a new salon, even if it's a further drive. I added 1 star because of the decent past experiences & they're pretty clean. read more

At first glance this place looks awesome. They offer drinks and there was no wait. I chose to do dip powder for the first time, and that was the biggest mistake. (I usually get color powder) My nails came out so uneven. And so bumpy. I asked for the coffin shape, and she cut the artificial nail tip so fast and none of the coffin shapes matched. I feel so bad asking them to fix the nails so I didn't say anything. Plus the lady next to me was walking out without paying and causing a commotion because she hated her nails so much. I didn't want to cause more trouble on the workers so I paid $45 + $10 tip for really bad uneven bumpy nails. Worse part is, everybody at my job noticed how bad they look. I felt like they looked good from afar.... but I guess not. edit: I also want to add that the technician didn't even push back my cuticles so it looks like the dip powder is molded over my cuticles since they weren't pushed back. ANDDDD I'm not sure if the issues stemmed from choosing "dip powder". And if that's the case, then they should warn customers that nails are not smooth when choosing dip powder.
