One of the top 3 best massages I've ever had in my life was here with NITTA!!! The space is so cozy it's a house repurposed as a spa spot and believe me I wouldn't want it any different, the first time I came here just called one hour in advanced so they could book me with anyone available so lucky I got Nitta. When I got there they immediately checked me in and offered water/ hot tea; I filled up a form to make sure I didn't have any medical or physical information that they consider useful to avoid any hurting. Nitta was super professional and we had a quick chat beforehand to talk about any specific area or concerns I wanted to focus on. The room where the massage was done felt so cozy and beautiful, beautiful lighting and calming music; I must've gone to another galaxy because the movements Nitta performed on my back released knots and stress I've been carrying for weeks. Here is one of my top favorite spots for massage. I still need t try the other services (body scrubs,facials) but I'm sure they will be as amazing; great customer service and the location is so convenient too, you can walk a few steps and there's a plaza with a coffee shop and restaurants where you can stop by after your session. Parking is not the best :( It's either street parking or if you're lucky enough to find right in front the spa, like I said it used to be a house so there's not parking available. read more

Terrible ownership. Something is definitely going on with this place. My favorite masseuse (the only one I ever saw for more than a year) mysteriously disappeared. I made an appointment with a different masseuse because I had a credit on my account. The day of, I was extremely ill with stomach issues. I canceled and they kept 100% of the money for the 90-minute. Okay, a bit Draconian to not even split with me 50/50, but okay. (In the 15+ times I have been here, this was the FIRST and ONLY time I had to cancel day of). Anyway, texted them to refund to the original form of payment the other credits I have. I have IN WRITING on text that they would. (This was on Saturday a week ago). I have called twice and texted again to inquire about the refund. Crickets. Nothing. Being ignored and stonewalled. After a year in the middle east maybe I'm just biased from lack of options but this was one of the best massages I've ever had. The staff was friendly they offered us water or champagne when we arrived they had little chocolates when they left. They were gentle with my shoulder that has an impingement. My boyfriend and I chose the peppermint bliss hot stone couples massage for $290 - yes it was worth it. The massage is head to toe with smooth hot stones incorporated. The peppermint was a nice touch but I hardly noticed it. Our massage therapists asked about problem areas before starting and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. I booked this for my mother to get a massage and she was very happy with the service and with the friendly atmosphere. I will be honest and say that this is absolutely not my type of spa to go to. I prefer full-service hotel spas. However, my mother does not like the pomp and circumstance and the pressure of hotel spas if that makes any sense. With that being said, it was a beautiful experience for my mother and I went inside to wait for her. It is located in a beautiful historic home in the Heights, they have complimentary champagne while you wait for your service, and the staff is very kind and accommodating. I went to Ms. Sanchez for a TMJ massage. Twice now in the span of two weeks. Each time was amazing. The first massage she focused primarily on my jaw and for the first time in years, I felt my jaw relax and move to center. (Note: expect your jaw to be swollen for several days depending on how severe your TMJ issue is and how much pressure she has to apply to get it to relax.) Two weeks later, my jaw was still pretty relaxed so most of the visit was spent on my neck. She stretched it out a lot and found so many sore spots I didn't even know I had. The receptionist, Miriam is also pretty nice and accommodating. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a TMJ & neck/scalp massage. read more

I applaud this. _______________ I was in dire need of a massage after working out 5-6x a week for the last 4 weeks - my muscles were so tight and on top of that, I was also so stressed out from being so busy at work. I found My Spa Joy on Yelp and was amazed by all the positive reviews - I have yet to find a spa/masseuse I absolutely love in Houston since the old place I liked closed. They were able to book two of us in - 4 days in advance - for a 1 hour massage. At this point, I'll take what I can get, though I normally prefer longer. I got here 10 mins prior to our appointment time and filled out some forms real quick. I was waiting on my friend for our "couple's massage" because that's the only room they had left for the afternoon. I checked in on Yelp and there was a 15% off your service! I told the receptionist and she said she'll make a note of it so she'll know to take it off when we pay later. The reception area was clean, quiet, and had an essential oils mister and quiet spa music so it was a nice, cozy, relaxed environment. Don't expect anything fancy - it was normal chairs and they offer you cold or room temp water. We were greeted by our masseuse and brought into the couple's massage room. It was nice to have a bathroom en suite. There was a little wall separating the two beds so my friend and I got undressed and under the sheets. There were no robes - so it made it a bit weird but we both said we weren't looking. LOL. The beds were heated which was a plus - the linens weren't the softest but I wasn't going to complain. The head rest was sprayed with mint essential oils - which made a very pleasant addition. My masseuse Winston Sampy was amazing. He listened to what I wanted him to focus on - neck, lower back and legs. He asked you throughout if the pressure was good and if he should increase or maintain. He maintained an even strong pressure throughout the whole massage and it was fluid. The only complaint would be that I didn't feel the knots being pushed out. It's hard to explain - I felt the knots and he would push them but I wouldn't feel the "pop" of the knots being released. He would push them to an area and then hold pressure on the area, which wasn't as satisfying. But maybe this is just a weird personal preference because the massage was relaxing and felt great. I would probably try him again for a deep tissue or sports massage. He stretched me out well. I enjoyed it a lot. My friend said her masseuse, Nezha, was good as well. She said at one point it was painful but in a good way. I gave this place a 4 star because it lacked a few things - a nice waiting area, the softer sheets, the robes. But what rubbed the wrong way was the payment. We came out and the lady billed us $170, I reminded her of the Yelp check-in deal and she rolled her eyes and said "oh yeah.." then proceeded to apply it. We told her we wanted to pay separately so she split that in half. She asked us who our masseuses were and how much we each wanted to tip. I gave her a dollar amount and my friend said 20%. She charged my friend 20% of the total amount ($170) instead of her portion, which means she ended up tipping 40% on her amount AND I tipped my guy on top of that. I think this is pretty shady business practice - I thought it was weird when she charged her more and then walked out and examined the receipt and realized what she did after the fact. I would definitely advise to pay close attention when you pay here. Other than that, I would come back for the quality massages. read more

Honestly, I really wanted to like this place. My husband surprised me for my birthday by taking me here last Sunday. The massage was good and facial was fantastic. BUT I give the place 1 star, because in the end... they charged my husband almost 4 times the amount that we really owed. I got a hour massage and a hour facial. We owed them $205 dollars, which we paid. The secretary kept saying that the zip code we were using was wrong, but when we got home his bank account said that $205 was charged 3x and an extra $175. This was $790 dollars!! And we don't even know where the $175 came from because the receipt that we got was for $205. We had to call the bank to get this fixed. The bank had to send us a new card and it was just such a hassle. Also, our zip code was correct. When my husband called and left a message for My Spa Joy that same night, they never apologized or even responded to him. It has been 5 business days and he still hasn't gotten any response. Sanchez worked on me and Alisha I believe on my husband and omg it was the most perfect massage ever. She created a fusion massage with Swedish, deep tissue, and some stretching for mines and I walked out of there feeling 10x better. Last Christmas I received a gift card from my son to Spa Joy for some much needed R&R, bit wasn't able to partake due to spending a very long year of battling Covid for myself and family members- until recently, so my husband suggested that we should use it as part of our "day date" , great idea right?!?! Well, we were told that the Gift Card expires after 6 month. Even though there is no expiration date written anywhere on the card and no paperwork was given to my son and daughter-in-law at the time of purchase In regard to an expiration date. I've been to many high end spas all over the country and have purchased many gift certificates for family and friends and have never ran into expiration of pre purchased services issues. This was the first time I've never be judged or given dirty looks by a spa for how I look. From when I walked in to when I left, I felt comfortable and welcomed. I got the Hot Stone Full Body Massage by Anise. She is very professional and relieved a lot of knots and back pain. The hot towel after each section made me feel refreshed and not sticky from the lotion. She gave continuous communication about the comfort heat level of the rocks and the comfort pressure level from the massage.
