(For reference, my favorite places are Don Pollo in West Valley, Lone Star Taqueria in Cottonwood, and Chile Tepin downtown). I came at lunch with my coworkers. I had the tostada lunch special. The salsa is really good & fresh . The chips are crisp & good . It took the waitress a bit to get to us to take our order looks like she had a lot of tables to manage . We ordered the #4 combo chicken chimichanga smothered in enchilada sauce with a cheese enchilada this came with rice & beans . My husband got the combo #2 . This was chili verde enchilada chili Colorado enchilada , cheese enchiladas & beef taco with rice & beans . My husband loved his meal the chili Colorado was just the right amount of heat . The taco was crisp & the beef was flavorful. The rice & beans were good also . It comes with sour cream . The portion size is big . My chicken chimi was mostly dark thigh meat very little white breast meat . It didnt have much flavor. I did not like it at all . The cheese enchilada was really good . They have changed the rice & it is much better not as hard as it use to be. The beans were good with cheese melted on it . They have Coke products . We had to ask for a refill . Once again, we patronized Guad's for a quick, hot, somewhat tasty, wonderful portion-sized, and diverse Mexican menu options...and visited Guad's again on 12 SEP of this year. We were promptly seated and once again waited on by Angelique T who we always seem to get as our server...and she remembered us as well. Love the salsa and chips...and on top of that had a draft beer for the wifey, and I had a margarita (rocks & salt, 'natch). My wife ordered Combo 3 (cheese enchilada and two tacos), and I had Combo 1 (Cheese enchilada, chile relleno, and a taco), and all the food was good tasting, plentiful, and hot! Angelique T did yet another wonderful job bringing out the drinks quickly, checking up on us, and engaging us in pleasant conversation (and even commiserating with us when we mentioned that one of our closest friends just came down with stage 4 cancer...) We always got a kick out of their name. After COVID, when we noticed they survived, I told my husband, "We should try that place one day. They've been around forever, so they must be good.". Sadly, this is not the case. In their defense, two waiters recommended the same thing the chicken chimichanga and neither of us chose that. But a restaurant should not stand on one or two items alone when they have a menu 15 times that size. In any case, they need to do a deep cleaning/dusting on the place. The servers were kind but non-engaging. I told the waitress my husbands dish was awful. She did offer to get the manager, but my husband hates that type of stuff, and he had planned to eat his dinner regardless. So, I told her it would upset him, and no thank you. One plus is that they give you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down and refill them throughout the night. They were acceptable; not bad, and not great. I ordered the grilled fish tacos. They were underwhelming. My husband got the sweet pork Chimi. The pork had hard, dry, burnt pieces. It tasted like they threw sweet sauce over overcooked pork to try and save it. I was flabbergasted. Bottomline, we will not return. And I need to trust my fellow yelpers. In my defense, I didn't check the reviews until we arrived as we went because it was dinnertime, and we were in the area, and we had decided to try it one day. I wish we had left. read more

I've been going here for a while now. Guads as me and the wife affectionately call them. Is a local legend in my book. Every time we go here, we've always gotten friendly, fast and the best service. The atmosphere is ok, but I don't go for the atmosphere. We don't visit a ton as we don't live in the Draper area. However, we visit enough to make the trip worth it. I always get the same thing. while the wife mixes it up. The food is always hot, always mouthwatering. The chips and salsa are to die for. You keep eating the chips and salsa even after you had your meal. I would recommend this tried-and-true Mexican restaurant to anyone who enjoys Tex-Mix. read more

I really hate giving 1-2 star reviews, but this place really deserves it. It's also getting harder and harder to write friendly reviews when service and food is not up to standard.I understand everyone wants to get back to normal, but trying to open at 75% capacity without the extra staff really hurts especially on a holiday like Cinco De Mayo. I called a couple days ahead to see if they take reservations and they don't. You have to have someone come in about 30 mins earlier if you're seating a large party. I also let them know that their website gives false information about their dining room being open and they should update it. They also assured me that they are doubling up their staff to ensure the large crowds coming for cinco de mayo. I get there at 6pm and they told me that it's a 30 min wait. No problem, I planned on it. I provided my mobile number and was told that they'd send me a text message when my table was ready. I told them I'm headed to the bar so I won't be in the crowding waiting room. 45 mins later I went to check my wait time and they said they've messaged me twice but no answer. I didn't get a message at all and they said that their messaging system doesn't always work so I'm at the back of the line now. After a few words exchanged, they get me and my party of 7 seated. It took almost another hour to be served and it's ridiculous. The owners really need to update their websites, update their text messaging system, and beef up their staff. read more

It's our routine to come here everytime we go to the aquarium and that's quite a bit. It grew as a joke when my son was a mere babe and he thought the word was hilarious. Checking yelp reviews, it sounded worthwhile. I guess they have a bar named donkey tails which to me is hilarious but ok. It's actually a decent bar where you can order food. Great patio. Anyway back to guadalahonkeys, it's good food. I wish it had more spices for taste. Fajitas were delicious. Beans were yuck but rice was good. Kids dishes are great. Get the fries for sure. Ranch is delicious. Service has been better lately. Parking is easy. For sure better Mexican restaurants out there but this place has variety for sure! read more

Went for lunch. I thought the food was awful. I ordered a lunch special of chili verde smothered burrito with a taco. The taco tasted like it came from a fast food restaurant. The burrito was full of large unseasoned pieces of pork. I ordered a side of tortillas which were clearly not homemade and flan for dessert (waitress said it was not made there). Would not recommend. I went to Guadalahonky's Donkey Tails Cantina for lunch on Cinco de Mayo. The fish and chips special was supposed to be $11 and they charged me $18.49 completely unacceptable I live 50 miles away. I have driven past this place a million times and each time said thinking how badly I wanted to try it. It's a cute restaurant! My husband and I decided to finally give it a try. Upon arrival there was a man at the front desk who said nothing as we entered and then went into the back. We stood there for a couple minutes before finally being seated. Our server was a cute girl and she brought us chips and salsa. The chips were over seasoned and the salsa tasted like it was from a pre packaged bottle. My husband ordered and bean and cheese burrito and I ordered a chili verde burrito. Before our food came I opened my yelp out to see what others had ordered. Most reviews were terrible!!! I told this to my husband but we decided to stay...... we should have believed the reviews. Our food came it and was yucky. My chili verde burrito was soggy and the meat tasted like it came from the can. I had to send it back. Again our server was nice and brought me out a cheese quesadilla instead. If I could give zero stars I would! Called in for takeout. Didn't get what I ordered. I called to inquire about what happened, and was told the host who took the order made a mistake. Their solution was to drive back and they would get me what I ordered, but it was snowing quite a bit so I just asked for a refund. I was told that wouldn't be an option because I was given what I paid for. My last question to the manager was, so because the host made a mistake I was just out of luck and her response was, yes. This was the worst food I have eaten in probably 5 years. We had only been there once before, and we live 3 blocks away. The first time was 5 years ago and it wasn't impressive. Been coming here for years and it's still our favorite local Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa are sooo good. Salsa is slightly chunky with just the right spice and cilantro. Today I had one of the lunch specials: 2 cheese enchilada's (w/flour tortillas) and a hard shell beef taco. Consistently great, always a leftover meal to take home. Their enchilada sauce is deeper in color and has more flavor than other places. Hubby gets the sweet pork enchiladas (w/flour tortillas), which he says is not to be matched anywhere else. I brought my daughter a few weeks ago. Although she doesn't usually like anything other than beans rice and cheese in a Mexican restaurant, she tried the sweet pork burrito and said she really liked it. She said she'll definitely go back to have that again. The service is excellent. Staff is quick and friendly, generous with refills. So glad Guads is still going strong! read more
