We tried Kompas Taqueria for lunch, and it did not live up to the favorable reviews. Overall, the tacos were underwhelming. The Al Pastor tacos were surprisingly sweet, even though the menu showed three chili peppers. The Mahimahi fish taco tasted fishy and was underseasoned. The Cajun Shrimp taco was the best of the bunch and had good flavor. The esquites corn was just okay. I ordered four different tacos to sample a variety: al pastor, asada chicken, carne asada, and chimichurri steak. Amazing authentic taqueria! Stopped in hungry and left satisfied. The fish taco is in a supple fresh tortilla that tastes house made, and the fresh herbs and veggie mix on top of the fish was the perfect crunchy complement to the tender fish. I have eaten here four times and 30 days and twice the last two days. Each time I try a different taco and each time I am not disappointed. The food here is fantastic. Shocked that this place isn't packed. Prices rate, food is excellent, the people are very nice. Looking forward to continuing to try new things here. If you like tacos, you'll love this place. My wife went to grab some of the Kompas tacos for us last week. First, she tried to call in the order to the phone, but all she got was the message that the answering machine was not set up yet. Hmmm. Then, she did not have a great experience with the counter staff person who took the order when she finally arrived. That was caused by the fact that my wife wears a hearing aid, and the person behind the counter didn't speak English. Not a great situation by any means. Next issue...after the order was placed, she paid $38 for 6 tacos. $38 for 6 tacos? $6.30/taco? Are you kidding me? That's ridiculous. Then she waited 30 minutes for these pricy tacos. 30 minutes? Then the order came out with only 3 tacos, not six. So, the counter person fixed that, and made sure that three tacos had all of the toppings (for me,) and her three had the toppings on the side (she's not a fan of onions...), and then that was finally fixed. To the credit of Kompas, the full order was credited back to my wife by the counter person. She then left and brought the tacos home. How bizarre. Finally, I tasted my "Karnitas" pork tacos and...well, meh. No fantastic taste or other features to write home about. However, there was an odd "floral note" to the pork, which is odd, no? Floral note for carnitas? Two Stars. We won't be coming back...we'll continue to patronize out local Gual Bertos, which we love. read more

Kompas Taqueria is a combination of both delicious food and an artistic, upbeat vibe. As soon as you walk in the door you notice a giant mural on the wall with vibrant colors and interesting detail. There' are also other little touches throughout such as the hanging decorations from the ceiling and the colorful chairs. It's a place that begs to be lingered in-and linger, I did. As cool as the place is, I'm not just there to sit around. I ordered a chicken taco as well as the mahi mahi and absolutely devoured them both. I alternated bites between the two, trying to decide which one I liked better and I just couldn't come to a conclusion. They were both terrific in their own way. My friend enjoyed her taco and also go some sort of frozen drink that she said was a little sour but good. I stuck with water, as I usually do. I'll enthusiastically recommend Kompas when someone asks me where to go celebrate Taco Tuesday (or any other day of the week, for that matter.) read more

The food was good. We got 3 tacos, a kids meal, and chips and guacamole. The guacamole was hands down, the best part. The chips are also lightly salted with a unique flavor. Possibly lime? The masala taco was a unique twist. The OG was a solid choice, and the shrimp was good. The kids meal pork was super salty, so we wouldn't recommend that. But, everything else was solid. Excellent, flavorful, light quality ingredients in the tacos here . Was really excited to try this new taco spot that I have seen in progress for a few months.. And boy it did not disappoint. They have a large assortment of tacos, varying from meats to veggies and fish and each one had a unique flavor combination. The tacos are light and tortillas had a perfect texture to them. The ingredients are quality and if I may quote Guy Fieri on this one "It'll take you to flavor town." As long as this place can keep up with the quality of its ingredients that it's currently serving up and keep their dining area clean and smoke free because a lot of places have ventilation. Grease trap issues around here in my opinion, then I can see it being a go to spot for many. Came here for cinco de mayo and it hit the spot! They have a wide variety of different tacos to choose from. We started with the chips and guac which was super good. For tacos, we ordered: OG Carne Asada, Mahi mahi, Karnitas, and Chimichurri. All were quite tasty. The Karnitas and OG Carne were our favs. They put a good amount of meat and toppings on them. No skimping here! And the homemade corn tortillas were great! We'll be back to try more on the menu. For being super busy they did a good job at hustling to get food out to people. I've only been once and there were some good things. Queso and Guacamole were really tasty. I got the carnitas nachos. Also good was the size and the toppings would normally make this meal a treat. However, the issue was the carnitas. Obviously old protein that was tough and flavored to try and hide it with flavors that don't work. I'm honestly tired of paying $20+ for one meal for the product to not be fresh. Restaurants must learn to manage their inventory and stop selling protein that isn't fresh.
