I keep hearing people talking about birria tacos, so when I found Red Taco in Lehi, I was excited to try it out. Since they do this so well, they don't need to have a robust menu with other meats...if you want a huge variety, go somewhere else. But if you want to try their specialty, you won't regret it. The branding and décor inside are well done-my family especially liked the sugar skulls that adorned an entire wall. My son opted for the ramen and ended up struggling to finish it. Word of caution: it's HOT! If you don't do heat well, this might be one to skip. I had the birrio tacos (duh) and they were fabulous. And my wife had the quesadilla which was cheese and meat and said they were also outstanding. We will definitely return for more! read more

Super cute and clean! Reminds us of our other top spot for tacos! We're excited to try their food! Tacos were pretty good. The meat was high quality but we've been a little spoiled with tacos that are pre stuffed with lots of goodies. I did find these to be fairly bland and basic. Even some cheese with the meat would have helped. They were also pretty wet with the broth which made a huge mess. Really good meat though. Portion size was too small for my husband. read more

I was seriously craving barria tacos after a quick search, I found this place. I called to make sure that the tacos were gluten-free which they are and was excited to try it. It has a very authentic feel when you walk in. They are playing music in Spanish and it just looks like it's going to be amazing. Something to note, there was only one person that spoke English, who is taking the orders. I ordered three tacos to go and was surprised when I picked it up that it didn't come with the dipping sauce found out after that there was an extra charge for that which was almost 3 dollars. I didn't want to spend that on the dipping sauce I've never ordered barria tacos didn't include it so that was little bit strange and next time I would probably get it but again I find it very odd that it didn't come with my meal. I like a lot of cilantro and lime on my taco so it was nice that they had those options available for you to take what you want flavor was excellent and I am excited to come back and try it again. read more

Well went into this place to get some food. And was not that disappointed. The restaurant is in a great place out in Lehi on main st. I wish they had just a little bit more on the menu than just birria style tacos but I guess it does say in the name Red Tacos. Over all the staff were super friendly and helpful. The decor of the place was great. The Birria was good but I have to say the consommé was everything! It added the flavor and juiciness the tacos needed. Honestly I added a little bit of the super hot salsa in it and it had the perfect amount of spice I was looking for. If I could add their consommé to everything they have on the menu I would cause we ordered the chips and salsa as well. And I was dipping the chips in the consommé because I was not too happy about the salsa. I was pleasantly surprised with this place! The queso tacos and the regular street tacos were delicious. The shredded beef was super flavorful and the consomme held together so well with the meat in the taco, which made it all so juicy. One thing I did regret getting though was the birria ramen. Definitely didn't care for that. The flavor wasn't bad, but it was basically consomme poured over tapatio top ramen with shredded beef. It all became a little overwhelming and repetitive to eat since they don't have any other meat options that I'm aware of besides the shredded beef. For myself, 2-3 tacos is enough, but if you can finish at least 4 tacos, I definitely recommend the combos. Add onions and cilantro to your tacos as you eat - you won't regret it! read more

Man, this place is a HIDDEN GEM! I decided to take my family out for some Mexican Cuisine. The reviews and the pics looked promising. The restaurant was easy to find and there was adequate parking. The first question I had was what the hell is Birria. I am a picky eater and I thought for the review, let me try something I had never had before. Once we entered, the ambience and the smell made me so hungry, it was like eating the air. It was now time to place our order. There is a menu board right above the desk where they take your order. The menu board is very easy to read, and they have a 4-street taco plate for 4.99 Monday to Friday Special from 2pm to 5pm. I also ordered a Queso Taco on the side to go with my street tacos. The Queso Taco is made with birria meat and queso melted cheese. My lady ordered Combo 1 which included 2 queso tacos, 2 street tacos, and one dip called consome. Service was quick and even though we got it to go, we still sat down to see how the tacos were because the smell of the food made us sit down and eat to satisfy our anticipation and hunger. Let me tell you, we weren't disappointed. At first, I was confused because my tacos had meat and two soft taco shells and that's it. The waiter who took our order said that it's a salad bar that has all the fixings. They had everything but cheese at the salad bar. That wasn't a good start but when I tried that queso taco, I understood why. Hands down this was one of the most flavorful and delicious tacos that I have ever had. If you want cheese, order the QUESO TACO! Better yet if you want a yummy taco, order the queso taco! We were also shocked at how big the serving of birria they put on the tacos, there was so much meat, we were able to turn the 6 street tacos into 12 street tacos. This is one of our go-to spots in Utah County. My lady loved the experience of Red Tacos so much, she has since gone again and ordered the Combo 1 and Birria Quesadilla for the kids. I have not been a connoisseur of birria for long, but I have recognized Red Tacos as the gold standard and one to which others are compared. Few places have me wanting to return to often but this is one. It has a simple menu but the flavor of the tacos is superb. The consumme is spectacular and so good to dip the tacos in. Aside from the tacos and quesotacos the ramen was really good as well. I am hard pressed to try anything other than their #1 Combo...birria tacos and quesotaco. I had lunch here with a friend at 12:15 on a Monday. Ample parking and no line. I did some math and saw that I could get 2 queso tacos with consommé for $10 (if I bought each thing individually) or the same thing with 2 street tacos for $13 so I went with the combo! It took a little longer than I anticipated for how few customers there were. I know they aren't making that birria to order because I've made it myself and it takes all day!! It's okay though- I had a lot of time to chat with my friend. I enjoyed the tacos. The meat is really juicy so the street taco tortillas were a bit soggy. They didn't break though. The star of the show was obviously the queso tacos. I loved the double layer of tortillas with the cheese in the middle. Great crunch. The meat was flavorful and so was the consommé! Based on a recommendation, we all tried Queso Tacos at Red Tacos in Lehi tonight. Red Tacos is located just east of the Main Street exit in Lehi. The tacos were fantastic - loved the crisp outside and cheesy, tender, beef birria inside! The consome was good. I enjoyed the tacos both with and without dipping them. Everyone was friendly and we were happy to see that they were pretty busy. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, but the tacos were still still piping hot and crispy when we arrived home to eat 10 minutes later. We ordered eight Queso Tacos. They were packed in two containers with three different hot sauces, red onions, radishes, and cilantro. I was completely full with two. Three each was plenty for my boys. read more

My husband loved the queso tacos (birria and queso). I got the street tacos but they are birria style, and I'm not the biggest fan of that. The flavor was good though and wow was there a LOT of meat. My daughter is picky and was put off by the orange quesadilla, and refused to eat it. We tried it though and it was really good. (She doesn't like anything, anywhere.) my son, on the other hand, loved the quesadilla. The rice or beans are separate sides that you have to pay extra for if you want them, as well as chips and salsa. The service was a little slow but she was friendly and it was pretty busy. The restaurant itself is really cute, with a Dia De Los Muertos theme painted on the walls and cheeky or kitschy framed photos. Overall we liked our food and will be back. read more

I love this place from top to bottom. I especially love the ramen bowl here it's amazing and I'll save the left over consume for dinner that night and it still taste amazing later. I'm kind of a critic when it comes to Mexican food. I'm used to really amazing Mexican food from Southern California. Most of my neighbors were Mexican. I appreciated the food at Red Tacos but it was way over salted. What's more, the birria wasn't as flavorful (spiced) as I've had before. The seating area was nice except for the fact that any time the door opened we were blasted with cold air. Utah problem not a restaurant problem, although I have seen other restaurants deal with this by having some sort of wind barrier or having seats farther from the door. The salsa bar was full, fresh, and delicious. The horchata was decent. The prices weren't bad. All in all, I probably won't go back soon because the food was way too salty and the menu was not that varied. It was a fun new restaurant to try though. Wow is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Red Tacos! After going to California Adventure and tasting their Birria tacos I had to find some in my home town and this place definitely delivers!!!! Before the Lehi location opened, we went to the Orem location frequently! Now that Red Taco in Lehi is open, it's a weekly stop for our family! Anytime we go out with friends or family, that's always our suggestion of where to go eat and everyone ends up LOVING IT. Not to mention how cool it looks inside! The paintings on the walls and all the photos are so cool to look at. I love the framed Loteria cards throughout the restaurant! Anything thing I want to point out is how great their prices are. This place is very affordable for a family to eat at. I thought their prices were very reasonable especially for the quality of the food you are receiving. Most people get the Quesotaco with Consume but my favorite is the Burrito- the Burrito isn't on the menu but definitely should be! (It isn't listed on the menu but you can still order it) It's like none I've ever tried! It's more similar to a chimichanga Due to the fact it's perfectly crunchy on the outside. I can't say enough good things about this place. All I can say is if you're considering trying this place... DO IT! You will not regret it. read more

They advertise consome coming with your meal but it's just straight up hot sauce? And at first I thought they just served bad consome, tastes like vinegar with a hint of pepper. Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love Red Tacos. I would drive from Eagle Mountain to Provo when they were just a food truck. Since they opened their brick and mortar in Orem, I visit weekly, sometimes multiple times a week...which is still 14 miles one way from where I currently live. So you can probably imagine the excitement when I saw that they were giving me a Red Tacos in my own neighborhood. I have tried other birria tacos but nothing can compare to Red Tacos. Nothing comes even remotely close. I am an avid Red Taco lover. I tell all my friends about it, post about it, and am very loyal to my favorite taco shop. When they moved from a food truck to a brick and mortar business, everything was still amazing. When they added their Lehi location to the mix, it was a bit disappointing. The people in Orem are much more friendlier for one. The girl at the register gave me a dirty look when I walked in, didn't even say hello, and then gave the same greeting they give at McDonald's: "What do you want?". I will admit, compared to the Orem location, the line moved a lot faster...but that was because there quite literally was not a line at all. It was much emptier than I thought it would be but maybe it was just because of the timing of my visit. The food also did seem to taste a bit off. Quite honestly, I didn't even finish it. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this visit was just them trying to get used to being open and everything but I will probably make the extra drive to Orem for a while. Things are SO MUCH better over there. I have overheard quite a few other people say that too. As a company, I still love you and support you, Red Tacos.
