We stopped here for lunch after doing some shopping in Provo. I had a feeling that this place would be good based on their menu. We were brought freshly fried chips and a flavorful (although mild) red salsa to start. We ordered a pork al pastor huarache and a quesadilla with cheese and flor de calabaza. The quesadilla was the best part of our meal: a freshly made, thick, delicious corn tortilla foled over and stuffed with salty cheese, sauteed squash blossoms, lettuce, and queso fresco. The corn tortilla was perfect. The huarache was also good, although not as good as the quesadilla. The pastor was the best we've had in Utah so far, but still not authentically spit-grilled. We asked for a spicy salsa, and were given a super hot and fresh habanero sauce that we loved. It was actually spicy! A rarity in Utah County, apparently. The menu items here seem expensive: $7.99 for my quesadilla and $6.99 for my husband's huarache. This is because they are HUGE! We could have split either of our dishes and had a full meal. Our waitress was very young, but very quick and attentive. Our food took a moderate amount of time to arrive; not super fast, but we were kept busy with our chips and salsa, and when the food did arrive it had obviously been freshly made, which is always worth a wait. The atmosphere of the restaurant is typical of a small Mexican place: TVs playing Spanish-language shows, decorated walls, candy by the register, and a partially open kitchen. I will definitely be coming back for another quesadilla. We also plan to try the chilaquiles con huevos, the tacos de canasta (served only on weekends), and the chorizo sopes. Having eaten a lot of tacos in Austin and in Mexico City, I can say that this place is great for Utah County.

My waiter only barely spoke English but we could figure it out. The chips & salsa they set down was a mixed result. The chips were terrific. The salsa was a small kind of watery bowl that tasted much more sour than usual. It was okay. Just not as good as the chips. I ordered the Taconazo after ascertaining that it was a variant on carne asada. I asked if it came with tortillas. Si. It came pretty fast and he pointed to a station to one side of the dining area and said, "Salsas!" Sadly the salsa cups were tiny. I could barely fit any pickled onions inside. There were also some big jugs of various agua frescas there, nestled in ice. The "Taconazo" consisted of LOTS of onions, peppers, cheese, crispy bacon(!), cactus, and strips of steak. I liked it quite a bit. There was a bit of trouble at the end. My food was 15.99 but my bill was $21. So I asked for a itemized bill (tips weren't included). Turned out they'd charged me $2.99 for a fountain drink, but I'd only had water. I showed them the error. Rather than change the bill, they just handed me $3 in bills so that worked. (Yes I tipped.) Anyway good food with only minor glitches, and I'll be trying it again.

The birria and sides were as good as other places we've gone to without the inflated prices. The only thing we were kind of meh about was the fries themselves (though all the toppings were great), but other than that, I'd say this place is solid and we definitely plan on coming back! Added bonus: They really put a lot of care into the decor. Their hanging flowers were cool to sit under.

Their meat is so flavorful, tender, and the pineapple compliments it perfectly. Their birria taco was really tasty too. Their shrimp taco was good but I wish it was grilled shrimp and not fried. The chips are fresh and crispy! The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back soon!
