Their meat is so flavorful, tender, and the pineapple compliments it perfectly. Their birria taco was really tasty too. Their shrimp taco was good but I wish it was grilled shrimp and not fried. They have a great selection of delicious salsas. Their chips and salsa is a nice starter too. Their salsa that comes with it isn't too spicy but has a great authentic taste. Had no expectations coming here, but I was really impressed by the portion sizes. My wife and I ordered two items on the menu, the birria tacos and the loaded fries, and we got two big trays of food. The value for the price is awesome. The birria and sides were as good as other places we've gone to without the inflated prices. The only thing we were kind of meh about was the fries themselves (though all the toppings were great), but other than that, I'd say this place is solid and we definitely plan on coming back! This applies to both Provo locations (238 W 100 S & 227 Cougar Blvd) where I have ordered almost all menu items, but mostly Tacos and Tortas. I have eaten at these locations (though mostly at the 100 S location) for YEARS. In all those years I have NEVER had a bad bite of food! I grew up in Southern California, so my standard for tacos and Mexican food is informed by the food that the first or second generation mothers of my Latino friends served me at their tables. The carnitas is ALWAYS succulent and never dry. The carne asada (while not necessarily the "best" I've ever had) is as good as any around here. But...if you like tortas, trust me, order one here (you'll take half of it home), and you'll throw rocks at the next one you order somewhere else! The bread, everything...on point! Their chips (I don't know if they're homemade or not) are the absolute BEST I've had at ANY restaurant around here. And their salsa bar is perfection. They have this one medium heat salsa that first hits your palette with a smoky taste, and then finishes with a little bite. I frequently ask them to sell me a quart to take home when I eat here. Brasas is personally my go-to for Mexican food in Utah County. Service is fast and they have a wide variety of food. I've gotten their lengua burrito and the lengua was tender and burrito was huge. I always get the birria plate; it comes with 4 birria tacos + cup of soup on the side, rice, beans, guac, cilantro & onions, lettuce, and cactus (my favorite side on the dish!!). We ordered food here for a big group of 19 people. I called a week in advance to try and see if they could take a reservation for us. They told me to make it 1-2 days in advance. But then the day before someone went over and asked if they could put together tables and make a reservation but they said they don't reservations. But on the day of we decided just to order take out and they took an hour to make the food. They did a great job logistically estimating when the food would be ready and packing everything neatly, labeling them well. However, they forgot to pack enough forks and spoons for both the meals and the salsas. It was also weird that they don't make custom breakfast burritos even though we were asking for items already on the menu that wouldn't have been expensive like eggs. The food overall was just fine - there was a lot of meat and substance in each plate but the smokiness of the meat was kind of a turnoff to many folks. The North Park Plaza has a couple of restaurants that you don't want to miss and Brasas is definitely one of them. If you don't have the time to drive through South Provo traffic to the OG Brasas location, don't worry! This location is right off BYU campus and they'll take good care of you. Brasas is a great balance between a nice sit-down dinner and a fast-casual lunch. My friend and I were able to sneak in right before the lunch rush on a Friday and I was absolutely shocked at how fast they prepared our food. We sat down to eat and we were still in and out the door in under 20 minutes! The waitstaff was friendly and they do a great job with special requests if you'd like to alter one of their options (e.i. extra cheese or sauce). And the food was incredible! I'll note that if you're looking for something "light" then this won't be a great option for you because the food is hearty with tons of flavor. We haven't had lunch so we were hungry and had a late dinner here in the city of Provo, where we were staying this Memorial Day weekend. Listen up: I just ate the best burrito I've ever had in my life, period: the Brasas Burrito, with steak, bacon and shrimp--unreal! The meat mix was closely ground and heavenly, wrapped up in a lightly browned flour tortilla, perfect. Their house chips and salsa are the best we've found in the state, fried up fresh on site, paired with a fiery-sweet blendered salsa (not misspelled) that's got just the right kick. They have a salsa bar that helped that situation, I just wish there had been more flavor in the meat itself. Brasas is located by the closed Dollar Theater in Provo. That location used to be so hot. Now it's a deserted, rather creepy, location especially at night. First impression is that the ambiance is OK. It's comfortable and the interior fits the establishment. There's plenty of 2 seat and 4 seat tables. But when I looked closer, about 40% of the tables were dirty. Service: Walking in, there was no one at the register. There was a person in the kitchen who could see me but there was no acknowledgement. After several minutes of awkwardness, I called out to that person. That person didn't understand me. So, my Spanish speaking friend, spoke out in Spanish. Finally, we were acknowledged and another person came out the back to take our order... The condiment cart has OK sauces. I'm not 100% confident about the freshness. When I inspected the vegetables, it looked old and dry. I get the Aztec Beef Fries every time when I visit Brasas. I've tried to tacos and burritos and they are Okay. If it weren't for these fries, I would not return. The flavor of my chimichanga was good, and my only complaint is that they deep fried it way too long, making the tortilla basically a big chip. They should label the salsas by hotness and types; provide to-go lids near the utensils station; and HEAT THE FOOD. The cheese wasn't melted on my enchiladas or refried beans so I didn't eat them. The chips were thick and salty. The rice was okay; same with the salad. The guacamole was mass produced instead of homemade. My hubby liked his carnitas and steak plate with fresh, hot corn tortillas. But not enough to eat here again. I didn't see any desserts on their menu board. What a great little hole in the wall restaurant! It's a little hidden off of University Parkway, but definitely should not be missed. The tacos are very decently priced. They offer 2 different taco sized. The food came out very quickly. My partner and I both ordered steak tacos, added cheese (which is an extra charge) and a basket of chips. They have a salsa bar that you can chose from for your tacos or chips. The tacos were delicious and really filling! I only wish they would use queso blanco for the cheese.
