This is a hidden gem in the Draper area. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the Carne asada bowl and a birria quesadilla. The steak was charred to perfection. Everything was so delicious and fresh. It's super cute inside the restaurant. This is a MUST if you're in the area. It's fairly reasonably priced, super small menu so the quality is top tier! You must must must go try them out!! Seems family owned as well, they're super nice here and the service was super fast. read more

I got the chicken taco. I did ask for guac but it was forgotten, it was ok i didn't bother with it. It comes with a side of cheese you can optionally put on if you want: it was delicious. I do think with added pico and some guac it would have been REALLY good but i didn't get told if that was an option (other than the guac). So i didn't ask. I was happy with what i got the rice was pretty dry. That's my only complaint: i will be back :) read more

We were hungry so we stopped in. We had no idea it was Happy Hour but from 3pm until 5pm on weekdays it is Happy Hour. Their street tacos are only $2.50 each. That's a great deal. We got 4 tacos each the Pastor and the Carnitas. They come loaded with pineapple on the Pastors and Guacamole on the Carnitas. The meat wasn't that great of quality and I'm pretty fussy about that but what did I expect for $2.50. Just like I suspected my husband is not fussy and ate three of my tacos. I did order the Elote. Mexican Corn on the cob. It was so good and got all over me. I found myself licking my lips long after we left. I want to go back for Nachos, Tamales and more street corn. I'll stick to the vegetarian options and be very happy I'm sure. The salsa bar is expansive and a nice addition. It's great to have this cute restaurant close by. We will be back read more

We live nearby the Draper location and tried them when they opened. It was not great. A second visit and they were "out of meat" :/ We just ignored them for years. Finally gave them a 3rd try for some basic tacos-and they were great! Went back again and tried the corn quesadilla (giant corn taco), and a bowl. Both were delicious. It's a good fast casual, pastor is yummy, fresh tortillas. They did forget our elote in a cup...hopefully we can get it on our next visit. read more

We eat here all the time. I typically get a bowl with al pastor, rice, beans, & guacamole. Add the light green cilantro crema sauce, & muah...so good...especially for the price read more

Very clean. Good music Walked in no one was there. Ordered 2 tacos. One asada and one al pastor. Got a drink. Horchata is a big no! Tasted like sugar water. 0/10 I dumped and got Jamaica. Tasted a lot better. But not freshly made. Maybe a mix 6/10 The have area with different salsas and I tried several and tasted good. 10/10 Asada taco was good! Meat was good. 7/10. I don't like when they include fat part of the meat. Al pastor was ok. I felt like it needed flavor. Pineapple on top was good. 5/10 Corn Tortillas are freshly made. 10/10 I didn't give 4/5 starts because I felt like service and few other things lacked. I want to come back and try it again read more

I'm about to find out! Always on the hunt for new and exciting spot to get my grub on. Well here we are at Maize... it's Al Pastor happy hour from 3-6, AYCE! The kitchen is a little behind schedule so no Carnitas today. It will be properly braised in 50 minutes. "Next time" I replied. I got the following tacos. 1 shrimp taco 1 Mahi Mahi/ fish taco 1 Al Pastor taco 1 Carne Asada taco First bite shrimp taco. Wow! So fresh and full of flavors and good textures. On a double blue corn tortilla. Lots of artistic creativity blended with a refined sense of culinary prowess. The best tacos I've ever had. 1 or 2 would do but since I wanted to review this spot I got 4. They have a lobster taco for $6 and I bet you it's incredible. Next was the meaty and moist Mahi Mahi Pescado taco. Again, wow! Big bite filled with fresh fish, cabbage and so clean. Served on a shell that looks like that chain's Gordo shell but this was more refined and looks rich. Loved this one too. Getting full but Yelp duty calls. This 3rd one was Al Pastor. Thinly sliced, well seasoned meat with a load of great flavors from the fresh pico and chunks of pineapple. The thick corn tortilla is meaty yet has a delicate delicious bite but hearty enough to hold all that incredible stuff. Big bites, big flavor. Love this one too. Oh my belly is so full. Carne asada is my last taco to review. I wanted more Jamaica to drink. I was expecting to pay for the refill but refills are free. While up there I asked about the unique thick corn tortillas whether they were made fresh in the kitchen. Yes they are. This is my new taco spot. It's like these talented moms decided to open a restaurant together and hit a home run. Okay, time for the last taco. Can you tell I'm stalling? lol Oh wow! Fire grilled beef. Tender USDA angus beef. The thick corn tortilla with a big dollop of guacamole on top. Very tasty. The Jamaica can be too sweet at other places but here it's perfectly sweet and refreshing... with free refills! The Salsa bar is on point. They have taste bud melting habanero (warning clearly displayed) delineating down to a mild green tomatillo salsa that would be great on the fish tacos. I ended up not using any of the salsas because the tacos stood out on their own. I just finished 4 of the best tacos I'd ever had. Thank you for opening and sharing your talents for us all! While dining a young family with dad, mom and three young girls ordered and stayed to eat. Another couple came is and dining in too. This is a spot for friends and families. Absolutely delicious tacos! The guacamole and chips is another favorite I have to get every time. The noise level can be annoying at busy lunchtimes but that's what you get with this open ceiling design everyone loves these days. I will definitely be back again soon. read more

First time trying Maize and I was thoroughly impressed. I just got a normal Chicken Burrito with the Chipotle sauce it and it tasty, especially with the Chipotle sauce, and very filling. Depending on how much you eat you might be able to share a single burrito for two. We got the food to so can't speak much on the ambiance of Maize but the employees we did interact with were all very kind and pleasant to work with. read more

The lobster tacos are amazing! We love to get them. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff is friendly.

They were out of their "Best in Utah" carne Asado, but the chicken taco was amazing. Nothing beats a hand-made tortilla. Next level. I wanted a little more flavor on the El pastor, but it was still prepared well. read more

Our tacos were super solid, I don't think I've ever had a place pile on soooo much meat. Seriously. It was spilling out of the tortilla even before I picked it up. Handmade tortillas make a big difference, salsa bar was fantastic. Not a single taco was bad. I got 3 tacos including one specialty one and it came out to $12, which I think is pretty reasonable. Horchata was a bit watery, that would be my biggest complaint. read more

I've been eyeing Maize for awhile and we finally made time to try it during the week. Not too busy around 4pm so we were able to order quickly and take our pick of the seating. Staff were friendly! You get a number and they call it out when your order is ready. The surf and turf super nachos were great! I was a big fan and I could not finish them at all. Large portion. The chips were heavy duty so they didn't get soggy immediately which was a bonus. My partner tried a carne asada taco and a chicken taco, both were good. The chicken had a nice kick to it. Overall a decent spot to grab a quick bite! read more

Wanted to love this more than I did... Pros: - Super friendly cashier - Cute atmosphere - Decent prices - HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS! Loved them - Solid salsas Cons: - Al Pastor was lacking flavor. I could tell it was well cooked and prepared but couldn't taste any spices. - Quesabirria was okay. Normally the consome and meat that I've had other places is extremely rich and flavorful. This was more salty than flavorful. read more

Maize Tacos was amazing. The corn tortillas where so good they are the best I've had. I loved the thickness and how soft they where. We ordered 3 Carne Asada and 2 Carnitas tacos. But they ended up giving us 5 Carnitas tacos which cost less then Carne Asada. That was frustrating but the Carnitas tacos where so good we enjoyed what we ended up with. They also had a great selection of toppings, I loved their mild red sauce. read more

We've added Maize to the Mexican food rotation for lazy nights. It's a good addition to the mix of cafe rio and Costa Rica, with a bit different meat options. Probably not an authentic choice but it's on par with what's in the neighborhood and is an easy grab and go. read more

Outstanding tacos! A great selection: Shrimp, Lobster, Pork, Steak, Chicken and probably other types! In addition to all the protien items tasting delicious, the corn tortillas are delicious as well as the pico sauce! Idk about the flour tortillas since I don't eat flour. This is a great little taco place! The tacos are reasonably priced and filling. The corn tortillas are homemade and very unique. I had a steak taco and a fish taco. The steak taco was delicious. This place has amazing tacos! So nice to have this right in Draper and not have to travel downtown! I highly recommend the pastor or shrimp tacos! If I have one complaint, it's that the place is very noisy inside, but it has an open ceiling and often is filled with parents letting their screaming brats run around, which isn't at all the restaurants fault. It's just that if you want to go in and have dinner. It's usually loud. We always get take out, which is just fine! read more

This place is worth it for the condiments bar and home made tortillas alone! There's a big variety of tacos, including birria, pastor, tinga, fish. The birria with cheese special taco was out of this world. I added pickled onions from the condiment bar and the garlic cilantro sauce- which deserves its own review because it is so scrumptious. The pastor pork was a little bland, but if you add toppings, you don't need to worry. Nice service, the place was empty and has colorful Mexican tiles that give it an authentic vibe, also nice authentic music. read more

Tetanus Tacos. Found a rusty piece of metal in my Taco. It cut my mouth when I went to bite into the taco. I stopped when I felt a sharp piece cut my lip. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be but still good. Just an average place. You go up and order and then they call you when it's ready and you go back up to grab your food, and yet they still ask for a tip on the iPad register. I won't tip if they don't do anything extra. I won't tip for them doing their job. You order and pay, you get your own drink, you go pick up your own food and you clean your own table. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the tacos. The carne asada was my fav and they don't skimp on filling. The tortillas are made fresh and they have Coke in a glass bottle which hits the spot perfectly. I bought a couple of coupons from Groupon. My wife and I used them here. $40 later (in coupons) we get our food. It LOOKED good but the taste was subpar. My wife (Hispanic) said the taste was VERY lacking. It needed more salt, as other reviews have mentioned. We ordered 4 tacos each and my wife ordered a gringa additionally. We both got 2 tacos al pastor, they were GROSS. The meat was so dry and were tasteless. No flavor. We also got carne asada tacos. I had ordered a tinga taco and instead they gave me a carne asada. So on top of no flavor they didn't get the order right. The gringa was TINY. My wife said-they charged $6 for this?! We also both got food poisoning. My wife threw up and I had many trips to the bathroom over night. We'll never eat at Maize again. read more

I discovered Maize a few months ago. It was so good. The pastor tacos were amazing, and my wife raved about the lobster taco. Fast forward to the last month - something has changed, not for the better. I have been three times for lunch. Every time, the pastor tacos have been super bland. Like the lunch cook is forgetting to salt the meat. My friend ordered a carne asada quesadilla today. The meat was overcooked and dry, almost like beef jerky. This is such a great concept for a restaurant, with the handmade tortillas. But Maize needs to get their food consistently right. read more

Poor service I went there a few weeks ago and I had a big order that I had called in about a few days before hand. I get there a little bit before the time it is supposed to be ready, and then it is still not ready for 35min after the set PICK UP time. If time is a problem don't go with this place. Otherwise the food is alright. read more

I tried the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos. Some of the best tacos I have had. The meats were cooked to perfection and had great flavor. Oddly, the only thing I didn't care for as much was the corn tortilla. They are a little thick for me. That said, I will definitely eat here again. read more
