The one thing this place has going for them is their homemade tortillas were absolutely delicious. Other than that it was pretty disappointing, which was such a bummer! The building has no AC, they were out of half their menu items and their soda machine was also mostly out of order. Got the chips and guacamole, the chips were thick and bland and the guacamole had no flavor. Wanted to try the pastor but they were out, so got carnitas and carne asada instead. Maize is amazing. I ordered the carne asada burrito after a long day show shoeing, so I was really hungry. It was a good sized burrito without being too much food. The cilantro sauce was amazing, my friend and I were tempted to take some home! The staff was friendly and the service was so fast! The restrooms were clean and orderly. The food is amazing. Tortillas made fresh for your order. The salsa is authentic and savory. This is definitely not a place to go to if you have a short lunch, all the food is made fresh and to order so your wait time is a but longer but very worth it. Great tacos! They are flavorful and they don't skimp on the filling. I got a pastor, asada, and camarones taco and I would say my favotie was the shrimp with a close second being the steak, but I would order all of them again. 2 stars and only because the service was well and they were really nice. The tacos were not all flavorful, if you like corn tortillas then this is for you because you probably like a dry fish taco as well. They have limited sauces but they do have the basic sauces so it's fine, i did however find their "signature" strawberry drink pretty good but you could slap a habit burger grill sticker over the drink and i couldn't tell the difference. Phenomenal food. Equally great customer service. My family honestly doesn't like most Mexican food in Utah - it just isn't the quality we are used to so we didn't hold our breath when someone said that Maize was really good. (As we say in our family...is it Utah Good...or Actually Good!?). We were pleasantly surprised....this place is ACTUALLY REALLY good. The quality and flavors are great. Today my husband had the surf and turf burrito, my daughter had the carne asada burrito, I had the Carne Asada Taco, Lobster Taco (SO good), and Elote. Everything was superb. And don't miss out on their salsa bar....SO delicious. We did have a little hiccup. I had placed the order to go and we had also ordered churros, unfortunately, the churros did not make it into the bag. I called Maize when I got home and noticed the missing items and expected (like I've dealt with many times when a similar situation happened) for them to tell me "Oh come back and we'll give it to you" or "if you come back we'll refund it". It's super annoying as a customer to get all the way home and only be given an option that involves me driving ALL the way back. The woman I spoke with on the phone at Maize was super apologetic and took full ownership of the mistake and immediately offered me a refund over the phone after verifying a few things. (I've had other places say "oh we can't do it over the phone" so I was pleasantly surprised). Not only that but she also said to mention it next time I'm in and she'd hook us up with churros for free! Honestly, I probably won't because I'm happy to pay for them and it totally was an honest mistake, but I thought her remorse for the situation and the offer to go above and beyond when so many other places just won't in this type of situation was commendable. The food alone would have made this a 5 star review, it was truly SO good, but I just HAD to write the review because of their awesome customer service. My thought is that if you're going to mostly do just tacos, you better make some dang good tacos. I wasn't too excited to go here when we went with guys from work because I don't usually order tacos but they were top shelf. I got the Carnitas and Lobster and they did not disappoint. Want a visit to the dentists office ? Just order a churro on a Thursday night. Fr though the churros are hard as hell. Customer service was pretty bad. I would suggest getting a different employee at the register. I had enough time to see Bitcoin prices rise again before she noticed me standing at the counter. Cold food, salsa ok, sneeze guards broken and covered in dust sitting on top of what it's supposed to protect ...not bolted on. Tables dirty with old food on them (30mins there and tables near by never cleaned either and covered in old food amd on the chairs, broken soft drinks dispensers(3 of 6). Food was bland, cold , no flavor, and employees had to be asked 2 times for missing food and 2 times for drinks. They are nice people and in now way anything but nice. ...but not what I would call good at service yet. Needs work. It wasn't busy at all (6 people in here other than my wife and kid),so not a valid excuse for a dirty place. I only stayed to see if the food could make up for the other things. It didnt. Over priced too for mediocre food. Ive been to plenty of hole in walls with good food so tried to be fair. Los Gallos Loco up the road is way older and hole in wall but clean, awesome service, and great food for reasonable prices to food amount ratio. It looked inviting because I am always looking for a good Mexican fast food. Inside was clean and simple. I ordered a pork burrito and a drink 15.25 I went to pay with cash.... Not enough change.. ended using CC. Took my food to the table, stopped at a sketchy condiment table and got some mild sauce...it was not half bad. Then I bit into my burrito, a mouth full of fat....,second bite was hard burnt pork and fat. Third bite more burnt pork and then the whole thing in the garbage. Slow, I placed my order at 7:20 and did not leave till 7:55 and I live maybe 2 min away and our food was cold and under portioned. My husbands quesadilla was mostly just tortilla and my nachos were mostly chips and lettuce! They are way over priced and I will not be going back again. Decided to try this place on a friend's recommendation. I wasn't thrilled. The prices are high and I don't feel that the quality of the food matched the price. The carne asada was underseasoned and the corn tortillas are too thick - taking on an almost rubbery texture. The lobster tacos were somewhat better, but nothing to crow about.
