YO WHEN I TELL YOU the food here is AMAZING ! very authentic Mexican food from Villa Corona Jalisco ! The history and story behind this restaurant is amazing. Service was amazing ! Wow! I've driven by this place so many times and I am so glad we finally went. The flavors are so good. The portion sizes are great especially the protein. The Mar y Tierra was 10/10 so flavorful I didnt even need salsa and the nachos con carne were fantastic! The place is tastefully decorated and even though there didnt seem to be very many employees the service was still really quick. I will definitely be coming back with more friends. This is one of those local places that deserves our support. read more

I like the food however I took a friend there and this isn't the first time it's happened here in Orem. For some reason if your white and can't speak there language in the United States they try to add weird upchathes to your bill. they put our gratuity as 20+ seating. read more

I've driven by this place for years. We finally went into give it a try. Sparse crowd which was concerning. I don't know Spanish and I asked a question about the menu so they had to go to the back to get an English speaker. No problem and that just kinda added to the authentic vibe. I ordered the Mar Y Tierra. It was great. Kinda like a build your own taco meal. Big piece of flavorful steak and several shrimps, cactus, grilled onion bulb, a spicy grilled pepper, with fresh greens and rice & beans. Good meal. Our group also had some tacos and a fajita meal or two. No chips and salsa or anything like most places provide. We'll be back however. The menus with pictures are gone and prices have obviously increased since those photos were added. They have new menus on paper. I'll add a pic of the menu cards. Overall this place is probably a notch above the bar set by Maria Bonita as my favorite order off a menu Mexican place in Orem. I wish it was a little more of a sit-down style place - but it is what it is. Good spicy flavors, and a place obviously affected by the pandemic. I hope it continues to thrive. I love everything about this place! The decor and music transported me to a place I am homesick for. The steak and seafood are top notch. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly grilled. I was also surprised by freshly grilled nopales that were cooked perfectly! The staff are incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome. It was a real treat to have such a fine meal. Everything I have tasted here has been absolutely amazing. They have something here for everyone! Their food naturally comes with mild sauce (other than the Chiles Rellenos), but you can ask for more spice. This is really great for my parents, who can't take spice. Their servers are also amazing! I have become friends with the main English-speaking server, and she makes everyone comfortable! I spent 18 months in a few Hispanic communities (learning Spanish and meeting the people), and walking into the restaurant takes me back--the art and tables & chairs are gorgeous, and the total ambiance reminds me of some Mexican homes I've visited. Authentic and delicious. May be more difficult to navigate for non-Spanish speakers or those not actually familiar with Mexican food. Pozole is clear (sin color) but the Chile they serve with it is fantastic and it is my favorite pozole in the US that doesn't come from mi suegra. Sopes are cooked exactly how I would expect with the sauce dip before the fry, and all the meats are consistently perfect. My only wish would be that they add frijoles canario for the tacos so they are a bit more like home. read more

Defiantly a blue collar, casual environment. No free chips - got to order separately. Needs work: improve menu layout (needs some pics), hire a waitstaff (check on people during their meal). This was amazing! I tried it on a whim, always in search of the best Mexican places. I don't think my server spoke and English, but the menu she provided me was in English, and so I'm sure they can also accommodate non Spanish speakers. They offer authentic Mexican cuisine that is full of flavor and have several additional sauces to try, with different levels of spiciness. I had the camarones a la diabla. Incredible! Nicely spicy. I don't think the sauce had tomatoes in it because it wasn't sweet at all, which is how I prefer it. The rice and bean's were excellent as well. I can't wait to go back to try more options! Food and atmosphere are clean. The presentation for the food is pleasing to the eyes! I don't mean to offend and i hate leaving bad reviews at all, but this place is way overpriced for the portions/taste. It's just kind of... okay. The waitress couldn't understand us when we ordered in English, so we tried using the little Spanish we knew. We ordered fountain drinks, but she gave us bottled soda instead and never gave us the second drink. We waited a really long time for food to come out and the waitress forgot what my wife had ordered and had to ask what she ordered after a good 20 minutes of waiting. I would recommend going somewhere else unless you really enjoy this style of Mexican food. read more

I really wanted to like this place!! I love mom and pop Mexcian places. Came three times while visiting Utah. The pozole wasn't bad! The broth wasn't as "red" as I'm used to and it threw me off a bit but in the end it was really good. Holy crap the hot sauce they put on the side had a KICK!!! I love spicy but put way to much. They give plenty of sides...I should have asked for more tostadas though. Good price and definitely worth it when you're craving some pozole. I ate breakfast once here... my favorite thing ever, chilaquiles!! I had a feeling something was going to be off when they didnt understand I wanted my eggs "overeasy." I can understand spanish but I'm not fluent. The plate looked great upon arrival. Everything was going great until I got to the undercooked almost watery eggs. Super disappointed as over easy eggs and chilaquiles go together like peanutbutter and jelly. The taste of them were off and I kinda scooted some of the watery egg to the side. The Jamaica i had with it was delicious though. When i got home i felt super sick to my stomach and immediately threw up my breakfast. I'm pretty sure it was the eggs. Way undercooked. The al pastor here is awesome. The pork chunks are bigger than you'll get at most places, and the seasoning/marinade is just right. I'm a big fan. I'm also a big fan of the carne asada. It's a sit-down restaurant, so be prepared to tip, but it's still a pretty casual atmosphere. And if you go on the right day, you can watch Liga MX while you eat tacos. read more

Just wow! Since when does a cheese enchilada consist of cold cheese inside and NO enchilada sauce? This all being on purpose according to the server when we asked them to warm it up. (They didn't) If this sounds like your thing, I have place for you! Boasting small portions, COLD food, clueless staff and chips from a bag. I don't know how this "restaurant" is still in business. I have been here in the past multiple times and it has been worth going back. I haven't been since before Covid. They changed there set up where it's not really a sit down restaurant anymore. Order a soda and they were out. Ordered guacamole and they didn't have avocados. My one Chili Relleno(10.99) was pitiful looking, not fresh or hot. I was asked what kind of tortillas I wanted. There's a lot to like here. The sizes aren't huge and the pricing is moderate, but the flavors are, for me, nicely balanced. The salsa actually has some heat to it, the asada isn't overly salty, the beans are meaty and thick, and the rice is outstanding. Fluffy. Chickeny. Bright orange. This is the worst Mexican of my life. Nothing is even made fresh. Entirely canned. Prepackaged: Chips and Salsa, tortillas, rice and beans. The beef soup I ordered may have been homemade. But was stale and not fresh at all. I heard them microwave it and it came out too hot to touch for 15 minutes. I'm guessing it was made days earlier and just rehearse over and over. I don't see them staying in business. On top of poor quality food the service was horrible. Server was constantly on her phone and I got zero water refills. In addition to service she was also responsible for busing tables, organizing the serving station, cleaning the floors and I'm sure even more. There were only 2 employees at 7:30 at night. One in the kitchen and the other I just mentioned. Lastly, there was only one other table that had diners. And by 8:00 I was the only one left. Dine at your own risk. read more

I was ecstatic when this place opened because I live and work very close (I was seriously planning on going here every single day), but I've been there 3 times now in hopes that it would get better, and I've finally lost hope for that. The salsa is good and you get as much as you want, but you have to pay for chips. Which I honestly wouldn't mind if they weren't crappy bagged chips from Costco. You're a Mexican food place and you don't make your own tortilla chips? "Eh," I said, "that's not a big deal." And it honestly wouldn't be if that was the only thing against them. I've noticed they try to rip you off where they can get away with it. Just today I went with my wife and she ordered the quesadilla, but when it came out it didn't have avocado on it. I asked about it and the waitress acted like I was making it up that the picture shows avocado on the menu. So she finally brought them out for my wife, who then asked for a side of sour cream (they give you basically none on the side). I got the tacos which really are always just a little less tasty than I remember them being. They have this weird taste that I can't quite pin, and the subpar sauces don't help either. After we ate, I went up to pay and the waitress informed me that the single-ounce side of sour cream we asked for would cost us an additional dollar - ONE DOLLAR for a single ounce of sour cream. It's ridiculous. She even made a point of saying she wasn't going to charge for the avocado since it's in the picture on the menu, as if she was doing me a favor by charging a 2,000% markup on something else. Additionally, the service is fairly awful. Each time I've gone in I've basically had to tell the server everything to do. Food gets brought out as it gets made, not when your whole table's order is ready, you have to ask to get drinks refilled, and evidently now you even have to ask to get everything your meal is supposed to come with. As a whole, this restaurant is underwhelming and they always manage to outdo themselves. One last thought is that, I get that it's "Real Mexican Food", but you're in Orem, UT. Most of your patrons won't know what most of the lesser-known foods actually are when all they have is the name. A small explanation of what certain things are could go a long way with us gringos. All things considered, I'll probably be back eventually solely because of the convenience factor, but I'd rather drive to Taqueria El Vaquero in Provo any day of the week. read more
