The first company quoted me exactly what I asked for, but they didn't ask any probing questions and didn't push back on any of my specifications. When Hicks Fencing came out, Tracy (the owner) asked numerous questions, which I liked, since I had only had and built wood fences at my previous homes. And most importantly, he pushed back when I told him I wanted a 6' high fence. He said that was significantly more expensive, it wouldn't match the neighbors and that a 5' fence would be sufficient to keep the deer out (they could jump it, but wouldn't, since they are so well fed by the neighbors). He also pointed out that I would need to get a water line easement at the back of my property marked (which he eventually took care) and that I needed to go about 3' further back than I originally planned to avoid my septic drain lines. I called the first company back to get a revised quote given the new boundary and shorter fence, but I was pretty convinced at this point to go with Hicks Fencing, which I ultimately did. He told me up front that they were backed up and probably wouldn't be able to start work for 2 months, but that he would install a small temporary fence (at no charge) so we could let our dog out without worrying he would run off chasing deer. Three months have passed, the permanent fence was completed a couple of weeks ago and we are very happy with it. It has three gates (two 4' and one 6' gate), they all function well, are nicely balanced and all three use the same key for the locks, which is convenient (something I should have thought to ask for and didn't). Hicks Fencing has apparently built most of the fences in Shady Oaks and neighbors have told me they are super happy with their fences years later, so I am hopeful and confident the quality of our fence will withstand the test of time. Oh yeah, great communication. Tracy called me periodically while the weeks went by to give me start and status updates, which was comforting. He let me know ahead of time when the stone would be delivered, where it would be stacked, when their trailer would be set up and where, etc. All communication was timely and excellent. He didn't request any payment until about two days before starting work to cover material costs for the stone columns. They ended up completing the job in 6 days, which I appreciated. All in all, I highly recommend Hicks Fencing.

Waited another few weeks to have them start demo on a Tuesday to disconnect stove, water, sink and dishwasher, and waited til Friday for installation of counters. Was originally planned for Thursday but due to miscommunication I wasted a full Thursday waiting to find out no one was coming. Came the following week to do backsplash and complete the job. For future reference, I would get an estimated timeframe from start to finish. Scheduling and communication seemed to lack and had difficulty trying to make my personal plans around them so I basically couldn't plan ahead for anything for 1 1/2 weeks. When I mentioned this to my sales associate he was very specific of a 3-4 day start/finish that was never mentioned to us, nor estimated in our contract. Well, we were way over their timeframe based on the wait time of scheduling. Since we had to go without sink water since Tuesday, a plumber came out Saturday to reconnect sink, stove and dishwasher for the weekend until completion the following week. I feel that the daily teams did a great job however I feel that my associate person could have given everything a thorough inspection, especially on completion day. Pictures and admiration does not pass as a full inspection. We ended up not having silicone caulk between the counters and backsplash therefore the grout was cracking, there were some quartz blemishes that needed touch up, electrical outlets were having problems, etc. and I had to make my own punch list for followup which again was not reinspected by my associate. So for over a two week period the job from start to finish was complete. I ended up caulking the counter to backsplash since nothing was scheduled, it was always next week.....not a scheduled day. I surrendered. Before this begun, full payment was done therefore I felt that they were done with us and left it at that. I still gave them 4 stars being that 90% of the job was done good by the assigned teams.

He busted out his own post holes, he took into consideration the neighbors irrigation (one head right on the property line). He built up two great extensions and doors for both sides making the back yard a little bigger and covering up all the guts of the home (AC unit and such). Ashley ended up working the second day and had weather to contend with. He just bulled on in what was becoming pretty torrential rain! We gave him more than one opportunity to call it done and come back and he was comfortable with the idea that he was going to get it done and a little rain wasn't that big a deal.
