Whitehouse Movers is an exceptional moving company. We hired them on a recent move from Melrose to…read moreWaltham. First, the movers are professional, courteous, and helpful. They were extremely professional, efficiently moving furniture, dozens and dozens of boxes, and all our miscellaneous crap in no time. A security officer asked them to move the truck in the middle of the move, meaning that the movers had to pack up and secure all our crap immediately, bring in the ramp, and close up the truck. They did so respectfully and without becoming angry or unprofessional. They took excellent care of our belongings, including some antique tables and glassware. The only "casualties" of the move were one broken dish (which I didn't pack well), a small dent in an end table, and a tear in a (cheap) lamp shade. Second, they were extremely time- and cost-efficient. They managed to move us out of our apartment and into our house in just over five hours, including 20 minutes to move the truck and a 30 minute drive between the apartment and the house. They worked very well as a team, and made excellent use of the time, saving up almost $100 off the initial estimate. There are no hidden fees for stairs, elevators, ramps, orange carpets, or sticky doors. The estimate they give you up front is what you'll pay, unless they save you time like they did for us. We were very pleased with the moving company and would recommend them to anyone moving into or around the Boston area.

We had a scheduled assessment and they didn't show. Called up and they sent someone. On the day of the move the guys had no idea that there was an additional room that needed to be moved. They left without saying anything. We were trying to finish cleaning the house. We noticed they were gone and didn't take our bikes. my husband had to stop them before they left to tell them about the additional pieces to move. Then they left. We went to our new place and the arrived 15 minutes after we did. Once they finished moving in what they took they told us it would be 500 more. When they were doing the initial room they said they weren't going to charge us more than the original quote. ( We will stick to your budget - they said) We are no longer recommend them.

I've moved several times, and this was by far my worst moving experience. I hired Octopus to move…read moresome belongings into storage and then move them into my new place a month later. I had a detailed call with them, received a quote, and booked. On moving day, I clearly explained twice which items were being moved and which belonged to my roommate or were staying with me. Despite this, the movers began loading items I had specifically said were not going, including a suitcase I was actively packing and, more concerningly, my backpack containing my work laptop, license, and work ID. They eventually found the backpack, but it created unnecessary stress on an already stressful day. After about an hour, Octopus called to say they needed to send a third mover because I had more items than expected. While I did have a few small items I had forgotten to mention, I had also gotten rid of a large piece of furniture I had originally discussed with them. The additional mover and the extremely slow pace caused my final bill to be about twice my quoted price. I would have understood paying somewhat more, but genuinely twice the cost was a major surprise. I contacted management afterward and had a polite exchange. They provided a small refund, but much of the conversation focused on how I should have sent photos of my belongings for a more accurate quote. I understand that photos can help, but I booked while still packing and expected the estimate to be reasonably close. The second move-in went more smoothly, but some of my furniture was damaged. When I pointed out blue discoloration on my dresser, I was told it was likely due to the rain on moving day. Given that the furniture was wrapped in blankets and plastic, I found that explanation difficult to believe. The mover offered to repaint it, but after a few days, he said that they wouldn't be able to match the paint color. My biggest issue was that the movers struggled to follow basic instructions about what was and wasn't being moved. I understand that mistakes happen during a move, but this caused a lot of avoidable stress, added cost, and damaged belongings. I rarely write negative reviews, but I would not recommend this company.

As expected, they were easy to work with, pleasant all around from the texts to the phone to the muscle! Three nice guys showed up. We weren't even done packing yet, which they took in stride, and helped us wrap, box and tape like champs. They even had to take some big items out the back way and hoist them over the 2nd floor railing! In the new place, they positioned our rugs, and our sofa and desks, even assembled our Sleep Number bed and adjusted the setting. They are VERY experienced in all things! And only one item broke, and it was too easy to break, and will be good as new with some Crazy Glue. I hope we don't have to move again anytime soon (knock wood!) but if we do, I know who to call!

We used Michael's Movers for a cross country move from MA to California after we were recommended…read moreby several friends, one of which has used the company 3 separate times to move. We had high hopes, but unfortunately, were blatantly lied to and this is honestly the worst professional experience I've ever had in my 30 years. The sales person that we spoke to named Cliff told us that the move would take up to 14 business days (which is 3 weeks), which was unfortunately too long for us as my husband works from home and we needed to be out of our place by the 30th which would potentially put us sleeping on the floor for 2+ weeks. So we told him that we weren't able to do it and instead we rented a U-Haul and planned to do the move ourselves. He then called us a couple days later saying that he talked with Michael and said he "worked something out" and that we SO LUCKY because their 2 18 wheeler trucks needed to be back by the 14th for a big move, so our things would HAVE to be delivered by October 5th. I have this in writing as well that our things would arrive by October 5. The day of the move comes around and they make a sign of contract that says our things could be delivered in up to 21 business days, which is a whole month. This was never an agreed upon or discussed and made us very nervous. And as it turns out Cliff LIED, and made up the entire elaborate story that he told us that the trucks had to be back by a certain date in order to get our sale. I guess the jokes on us, because we put our faith in Cliff when we shouldn't have. Our things didn't even get loaded on the truck until October 5, and we waited an extra 1.5 weeks for our things. It's not about how long the movers took if 14 business days was what was agreed upon, it's the fact that we were lied to about how quickly they could get it to us in order to get our money and that we would have never have gone through with this if he hadn't lied; we were fully prepared to move ourselves and had a uhaul already rented. The amount of stress that this company caused us is not worth it, I would not recommend them to anyone, and they also mislabeled our boxes and didn't label several boxes. Even the movers that came to unload the truck when it finally arrived in California told us that we should file a complaint about the mistakes that were made in Boston. Shame on this company for feeding lies to get people's money, they truly don't care about people. When I tried to discuss it with Cliff to ask what happened to the plan, he immediately shut me down and ended the conversation. I reached out to info@michelsmovers.com for support and more information about where our stuff was, and I sent along screenshots of the dates that were discussed, and we NEVER EVEN HEARD BACK. They truly don't care about their customers who pay them $7000. I have posted my story to all my social medias and told the people that recommended us who will never use Michels movers again and will stop recommending them. Super unfortunate

I read a review that said "if I could give them zero I would'" We must of have had similar people. I was going to a handicap accessible unit and when I tried to explain the basic logistics and the fact that I had certain things on dollies to make it easier to move around due to chronic illness and confirm that these items would be placed back on the dollies so I could do so in the new place I was shut down by this alpha Serge. This explanation would have take probably 5 min and that I was in the process of decluttering when the transfer finally came thru. They disregarded items marked fragile things were man handled as he took his frustrations out and there was nothing i could do as a about it. When I tried to ask the man about the dollies he raised his voice. I put down $1500 and they hit me with a bill for $786 after with hidden charges and overpriced the traveling time over an hour and charged me for the hour lunch they are required by law to take. In the end they were deceiving and do NOT guarantee anything. After was all said and done he finally sent me a contract that had a larger estimate for $1850-$1995, with a disclaimer that said they are only required to stay within 80% of the original estimate but that wasn't the original estimate. I was charged for 12 hrs when it was only 6.5 but apparently I also had to pay for the 3hrs back as well as a $200 fuel charge! They completely scammed and ripped me off. They also knew I was a single mother moving from Mass to NH because I couldn't afford it in Mass anymore! And I tipped them a $100 before he came over with the extra $786 bill which was way more expensive than I was quoted and was told to believe. I expected him to honor his guarantee on his web site and NEVER would have expected to have to pay for the workers hour break. I wouldn't or shouldn't have had to pay for the commute back when the job was done but nothing I can do about it now because they are good con men and put my child and I in a challenging and powerless position.
