Whitehouse Movers is an exceptional moving company. We hired them on a recent move from Melrose to Waltham. First, the movers are professional, courteous, and helpful. They were extremely professional, efficiently moving furniture, dozens and dozens of boxes, and all our miscellaneous crap in no time. A security officer asked them to move the truck in the middle of the move, meaning that the movers had to pack up and secure all our crap immediately, bring in the ramp, and close up the truck. They did so respectfully and without becoming angry or unprofessional. They took excellent care of our belongings, including some antique tables and glassware. The only "casualties" of the move were one broken dish (which I didn't pack well), a small dent in an end table, and a tear in a (cheap) lamp shade. Second, they were extremely time- and cost-efficient. They managed to move us out of our apartment and into our house in just over five hours, including 20 minutes to move the truck and a 30 minute drive between the apartment and the house. They worked very well as a team, and made excellent use of the time, saving up almost $100 off the initial estimate. There are no hidden fees for stairs, elevators, ramps, orange carpets, or sticky doors. The estimate they give you up front is what you'll pay, unless they save you time like they did for us. We were very pleased with the moving company and would recommend them to anyone moving into or around the Boston area. read more

We used Whitehouse movers 3 years ago and they were excellent. Great communication, courteous, came out on time for the assessment and stuck to the quote. Fast forward to this past May. We had a scheduled assessment and they didn't show. Called up and they sent someone. On the day of the move the guys had no idea that there was an additional room that needed to be moved. They left without saying anything. We were trying to finish cleaning the house. We noticed they were gone and didn't take our bikes. my husband had to stop them before they left to tell them about the additional pieces to move. Then they left. We went to our new place and the arrived 15 minutes after we did. Once they finished moving in what they took they told us it would be 500 more. When they were doing the initial room they said they weren't going to charge us more than the original quote. ( We will stick to your budget - they said) We are no longer recommend them. read more

I had Eddie, Omar and Dan out a little over a week ago. They showed up on time and got right to work! They brought shrink wrap and respectfully moved all my furniture. It took them less than 4 hours to complete the move. Eddie led the charge and was very personable and polite. Their prices were much cheaper than other moving companies in the area. I have used Whitehouse twice for moving and have been a very happy customer both times! They show up exactly on time, they are always polite, courteous and professional. I do have one good thing to say: the guys that moved us were extremely polite. That being said-- Terrible experience with our 8/31 move. Estimate was for 4 hours, it ended up being double due to a 15 foot truck being sent to move us. We had sent a complete list of furniture, and overestimated the number of boxes to ensure this would not happen, but to no avail. So everything did not fit, and the crew had to make two trips. A custom made desk was damaged when the crew attempted to shove it through a doorway that they should have known was too small, and a lamp was broken. (The crew claimed to not have tools to disassemble the desk, but suddenly had tools to take apart a table.) When taking items out of our home, a king size box spring was dropped, and it bounced down the oak staircase and left a hole in the wall. The person that wrote up the bill overcharged us by almost $600, and that was annoying but whatever. We were refunded. It only made my account overdrawn, no big deal. I have been in contact with Lynda from this company, and probably because I am not backing down, her emails are starting to ooze attitude. I wanted one hour of labor to be reimbursed, as well as costs covered for the damaged desk I would never never NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Whitehouse was awesome! We've moved a lot in the past few years due to my husband's job, and this summer we moved from one house to another about a mile away. Hopefully our last move! Whitehouse is the best moving company we've worked with. They were on time, professional, and very friendly. They worked incredibly hard and quickly - I don't think these guys ever took a break despite all of the heavy lifting! They also took great care to make sure nothing was damaged going in or out. At the new place, any boxes I had forgotten to label they made sure to ask where I wanted them to put it. Our estimated hours to move were 8, and I think they took 6.5, so our cost came in less than estimated (and estimated cost was very reasonable!). I should also mention we had some tough large pieces, including an adjustable king bed, that they were able to handle no problem. Would definitely recommend and I hope the owner of Whitehouse sees this review and lets the guys who worked in Melrose yesterday know they did a great job!! read more

Not very happy with this moving company. The guys that moved me (there were two of them a more mature guy and a young kid) were nice but they didn't do a very good job. They damaged quite a bit of my stuff - they tore my encased king size mattress cover completely up! And had the nerve to try and hide the damage that they caused, they placed the damaged side of the mattress cover up against the wall, hoping I wouldn't notice the damage. When I showed the guy (I believe his name was Ronnie and he is the owner's son in-law) the damage that they caused he said he would take $25 off the bill, mind you the mattress cover was $150!! And I told him what I paid for the mattress cover, he looked at me as if I was exaggerating about what I paid for the mattress cover. I called up the company and spoke to the owner about it and that is actually how I found out Ronnie was his son in-law. Well when I was speaking to the owner he was nice about the situation and knew what my mattress cover cost and did offer that if I couldn't have the warranty cover it they would pay the cost of it. Thank goodness it was covered under the warranty and I was able to get it replaced that way. They scratched up the edges of my microfiber couch, which has left it with little tears in it basically as it's cloth! because they didn't want to do the extra work and remove the hinges off of the door, they were moving the furniture in through! They scratched up the legs on my coffee table and somehow one of the screws was ripped out of one of the legs of my coffee table as well, which has left it nice and wobbly! Mind you my coffee table was brand new I purchased it in the place they moved me out of, so all damages caused by them. Also, all of my items were dirty, with their nasty hand prints on it. Granted I know I was moving and people are sweaty and their hands will get dirty, but that is proof that my items were not properly wrapped up and protected, that's how they got all of those scratches and tears on them! My recommendation is if you don't want your stuff that you have worked hard for to be destroyed and go through the hassle of having to get your warranty to cover the damaged items or have to replace them yourself in general, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOU!! Go with better companies like "Gentle Giant" and "Two Men and A Truck" you may pay more but you're dealing with professional movers who take care of your furniture, wrap it up nice and do the extra work to make sure it's not damaged! The men moving the furniture were accommodating and reasonably careful (there was some minor damage which they paid to repair). The biggest issue was lost items. The owner claimed they weren't in their warehouse. He was diligent enough to continue looking for the items and ultimately found them 2-4 weeks after the move. However some items are still missing. I've been told that they'll continue to look for them and I'll be contacted if they are found. Bottom line, movers aren't supposed to lose customer's property. There's a lot of options for movers, chose carefully. read more

He literally told me to "shut the fuck up," when I told him that moving a single piece of furniture was a "small" move, not a $300 minimum small house. If he treats a human like that, how will he treat your possessions? Avoid at all costs. (IDon't worry, I gave it that behavior right back to him... but I'm the customer and I do not have time in my day to pay overpriced fees for services I do not need for a guy who lies on his advertising and verbally abuses customers.) read more

So many of my Christmas boxes are missing thanks to our move by Whitehouse Movers from Stoneham! They are the worst. At least five pieces of my furntiure were damaged beyond repair and they will never respond to my calls & letters. Their ad shows things all wrapped and covered and that was never done with any of mine. False advertising! Wow!! Amazing movers!! I called the company and it was very easy to set up a time and date! They showed up early and it was two movers and one director. The director was named Anthony. Such a personable guy and all three men communicated really well to me! Anthony made sure all my concerns and needs were met. They were fast and finished quickly!! I highly recommend Whitehouse Moving from start to finish. George, one of the owners, came to our house for the estimate. He was more thorough and helpful than the other moving company whose estimate we got. George told us how to save money, how best to pack dishes, and other useful tips. On moving day 3 movers came -- They had to drive from Stoneham on Rt. 128 and called to tell us that there was more traffic than anticipated and they would be a bit late. (Very courteous.) These 3 men were professional, helpful and quick. We had a few pieces that needed to be cajoled out of the doorway of the rooms and these men got the pieces out with no damage to the furniture nor doorway woodwork. Paul, the head mover, was extremely flexible when we asked for a few extra favors. He always replied "no problem". Alex and Mike were pleasant, STRONG! and energetic. All 3 worked well as a team. I called on short notice and they were able to fit me in. Three men were planned but only two showed up. These two young men worked their asses off and needed a third to help us with a large piece of furniture. The third came assisted and took off. They were very thorough and neat without any damage. Moving day a beautiful Friday morning. Whitehouse Moving showed up at 830AM: one truck and 3 movers (Paul, Tyler and Luis) , Paul (the lead) took care of the paper work and they were off and running! Everything went down the flight of stairs and into the truck - items were wrapped and protected and I didn't hear one thing hit the wall!! They brought stuff to the curb for me that was being thrown away as well as a washer/dryer down the stairs that someone was picking up the next day. They worked great as a team. 3 1/2 hours later they were done and we were in our new home! And as an added bonus - they came back to our new house and blanketed and shrink wrapped and moved a piece of furniture for storage to be used at a later time! Awful awful awful! I can not say enough bad things about this moving company. The owner starts of sweet and stupid as he complained about his bodily ailments and then is rude and arrogant which is appalling. They literally broke, damaged, or chipped every other piece of furniture. Not to mention staff arrive smelling like they were not ready not competent to work at McDonald's let alone lift heavy furniture. And staff were kind enough to admit that they were new to the business, should not have done the job, and go figure wow totally damaged a lot of stuff. Literally broke a leg off of a chair walked over to me and asked if I wanted it. Brand New house that was just built had scrapes and gouges in the walls from furniture...needles to say the furniture had the reminder of the paint that should have been on the wall. And the female staff that are paid to wrap delicate items were a joke! A five year old could do a better job. The majority of the crystal and land blown glass was...you guessed it! Broken! Stay away from this business of you value your belonging. read more

I was not pleased with my experience with Whitehouse Movers. Prior to the day of the move, someone came out and walked around the house so I could point out the large items that would be going. I asked if they needed to know all the small things/boxes and he said no. After that day, there were a couple items I had forgotten about so was in touch via email to make sure there would be space. They assured me there would be space. The day of the move everything did not fit in the truck. Initially they basically said "we will take what fits and that's it". I was obviously not pleased with that but compromised by moving the remaining items MYSELF to my neighbors. The day they moved me into my new house they went back after they unloaded the first round and got the rest of the stuff. In addition to that major inconvenience, they were not careful with my belongings and quoted me almost 1000.00 less than what I ended up paying. Overall would absolutely not recommend. From reading other reviews after the fact, it seems that this is a pattern for the company. read more

The BEST and only moving company on the North Shore and beyond with a great friendly crew. I used these guys twice in the last 2 months and would use them again in a heart beat. Both times arrived on time with the muscle and finise to make the move stress free. All the movers and receptionist were very helpful and friendly and do what they do best by reassuring you are in great hands with your move.. I had a big safe that needed to be moved along with some very expensive antiques.. The safe was the last thing to be moved and we gave up on the first day.. The next day the owner reassured me that later in the day the crew would move it.. At 2pm 6 very strong and helpful guys with the owner showed up and they moved the safe up the basement stairs through the door that had 1/4inch clearance like clock work. This moving company moved my parents to the Boston area and did a fantastic job. When my parents were called to establish an estimate for the move, they "forgot" about a lot of things they wanted moved. When the guys arrived with one huge truck, my parents had more things they wanted moved. The men did not argue with my parents but went out and rented a second truck. Instead of being able to take turns driving, they had to drive two trucks and still got here on time. Everything was packed very carefully and nothing was damaged. I paid for the move and they gave me a very reasonable request for the extra truck and items. An outstanding company. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not use this company. I used then May 27th. I waited until now .....June 9th..for a responsible, courteous reply to my email requests but not happening. In a nut shell- moved from Condo rental to second floor of a two family. I put all new oak floors in two family. They scrapped floor... ..The movers told me boss had a guy that would come out and buff etc etc only to find out there was no guy. Lies. That ended up OK because owner took off $150 off bill. I had to get floor guy out to re sand etc. It was next day I went to clean out Condo and saw what they did to bedroom floor. This was worse because it was so deep and they were laminate floors.. Not the real thing. I sent pictures to whitehouse movers and person in officer informed me I had Rugs... They didn't scrape floors that had rugs!!!. I informed her this was my master bedroom. I had no rug!!! My sons room had a rug and I was going to lose a chunk of my security deposit. I tried to upload Pics but I guess I can't . It is unbelievable how deep the scraping is. But....What's done is done but the part that is so annoying is I tried to make arrangements for the company boss to come see what the workers had done.... No feedback. Just ignored me. So..Beware.... My experience with Whitehouse was the worst!!! I asked for an estimate which came the day before I was to move. The estimate stated that they needed two days for the move, never had called to confirm even the first move day, at the last minute told me that they were not moving my armoire via a window because they did not do that work anymore, and sent a mover whom I requested especially not to be sent because his work was terrible the last time I used this company. As a result I had to hire another moving company to finish the job whitehouse couldn't/wouldn't. During the whitehouse move, several fragile boxes were dropped and items were broken, discard and empty boxes were taped up in an attempt to hide the losses; the leg of a sofa was broken in front of me and I was told I could glue it and all would be well!!??? In addition, a Hancock bed was cracked and although put together, was so badly done that I couldn't sleep on it until the second set of movers fixed the job. My second bed is still not put together two months since the move. Pieces needed are still not found and this bed was taken apart by Whitehorse but evidently they lost the pieces! Great huh! When I called Whitehouse about the losses, I was screamed at by the woman who answered and was told they would not cover loss unless the boxes were not yet opened. It so happened that 50 plus boxes were still intact. A second woman came to the house and said she couldn't open the boxes that day...she had no time. AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY 60.00/hour To have the boxes opened. It was left up to my to decide whether I wanted to pay!!!! Oh, yes, at the end of the move, I asked the movers to drop two items at a consignment shop very close to the moving company...they agreed...no problem. Guess what...the consignment company never received the goods. Not only I'm dealing with breakage but also thievery. And in any event I'm being given the run around. This has been going on for two months. I've had enough of being patient. Now I'm going to complain to the whole world. What fools Whitehouse is! Can someone help me figure out how to get my money for all my losses! read more

I had high hopes for this smal, local family run business but was extremely disappointed at the lack of care my belongings got. I paid to have my things professionally packed and could not believe the flimsy materials they used and no padding or bubble wrap. Many fragile items were haphazardly packed, many others I had to repack. They also do not return phone calls or emails for days. I have not gotten my things from their storage facility yet but fear the worst when I see them again. Do yourself a favor and pay more for better care. I will next time read more

Before choosing a moving company I read the Yelp reviews for Whitehouse Movers and was convinced that it was a great company so went ahead and hired them. BIG MISTAKE! The people in the office were wonderful and very helpful with making all the moving arrangements. The guys that showed up on the day of the move were a somewhat of a disappointment - they didn't shrink wrap my upholstered furniture (saying that if they did it would make it too difficult to pick up and carry) and although they didn't have the 3 wardrobe boxes I was promised would be on the truck, they made no attempt to rectify the problem - even though we were only about a mile down the road from their office and they could have easily gone to get them! But my real problem is with the actual owner of the company. There was damage done to a couple of pieces of furniture and my conversation with him about how he was going to compensate me was outrageous! I have never been treated so rudely - I assumed that the owner would recognize the importance of treating his customers with respect but not so! Prior to my conversation with him I had spoken to several people in the office who were very understanding and had agreed to compensate me but the owner vetoed their offers and was unwilling to work out a settlement - instead he told me to deal with the insurance company. His final response was, "Hire a lawyer and take me to court if you don't like it!" Not exactly the treatment I would expect from the owner of a company such as Whitehouse Movers. Needless to say, I will never give any more business to this guy and suggest that you don't either! read more

Unbelievable experience from start to finish. Recent move from Chelsea to Nahant. Emailed contact on website quite detailed and expected to hear back that day. Email did not go thru. I called at about 3:30pm yesterday and I had truck and movers set up today at 9am. Drivers were early. By the time I got there they had staked the property out and were ready to work. They are fast, friendly and efficient. There was no damage caused by them They (Anthony and Steve) were very careful. They handled everything so easily. We added in a few extra steps and nothing bothered them. I was moving a beautiful old bedroom set from the third floor. It had been in this house for 86 years and kept in beautiful condition. When the big mirror was removed from dresser, they noticed the mirror glass was slipping and brough it to my attention. The adhesive had dried out and the mild jostling of the move loosened the side mirrors, If my sons had done this move the mirrors would not have survived. These were true professionals and enjoyable to work with. Absolutely using them for another move in 2 months and anytime I want furniture moved. So much more pleasant than listening to sons and husband complain. read more
