I was shocked at the level of service that I received. They were less expensive than a well-known service, so I wasn't expecting the moving guys to go to the length that they did, all the while staying on schedule. Some highlights include their preparation of furniture that I hadn't fully, to ensure that it survived the move without a scratch. I have a giant glass and metal dining table from 1970 that weighs a ton, but they covered the glass in cardboard and wrapped the entire piece in plastic to protect it, and it did. They were very quick to figure-out tricky maneuvers to get furniture through awkward passageways. And they communicated with each other constantly to make sure they were on plan. And I want to emphasize that they successfully accomplished with two workers what the well-known service quoted for three workers, in the same time frame. Highly recommended! read more

Your staff and movers made a very stressful experience go smoothly. The whole concept of moving an elderly person from one assisted living facility to another during the Covid19 pandemic was daunting. That you were willing to do the move was wonderful. Mike took a detailed summary of what we had to move. The first cost estimate was high but it gave me an incentive to move unused possessions out before the move. Fortunately the facility let me in to help organize the rest of his stuff. In the end, the cost was quite reasonable. The other staff were very helpful as we both clarified how the move was going to happen. On moving day, the Caleb and Ben arrived on time and got right to work. They were flexible about some changes during the move as to which door they were supposed to use. They even carried a heavy bed up four flights of stairs when it would not fit in the elevator. That was a tremendous help. What would I have done if the bed couldn't be moved??? Returning the empty boxes to your Arlington location also helped the whole process. But the staff made the actual moving part extremely easy and stress-free. They were responsive via email and phone and answered all my questions about what the day would look like, my quote, etc before I actually booked the moving day. When moving day arrived, KP & Julian were right on time, were extremely nice, and moved everything strategically and with great care and professionalism. We moved from our home of 36 years in Cambridge to Western MA. Of course, it was a difficult time both emotionally and physically. The kind guys at Intelligent Labor made the move SO much better than we expected. They packed us up on a Saturday, and moved us in on Monday. They took exceptional care with our belongings, and every one of the crew of 6 men was cheerful and totally serious about doing a great job. We had to ask them to make an unexpected trip to a storage locker and they didn't balk at all. In fact, the crew leader, Vinny, was agreeable to everything we asked, including assembling a table and desk chair we had delivered on move-in day. I have no hesitation in recommending this company. I cannot recommend these guys enough! Paul and John were my movers. They were professional, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. I moved during a marathon where my street was blocked off. Paul spoke with a local cop who let them in to park their truck, so what could have been a disaster ended up going very smoothly. The management office was also great to speak with. I had to change my moving start time and they were very helpful. Their rates are also the most reasonable I saw in my research. This was the best moving experience I've had. The team was very careful with all of our things and worked very efficiently. They came in to survey the stuff and space, then explained all the paperwork clearly and then began the move. They went as far as to explain how things are packed in the truck to build our confidence that they treated fragile things with care. They even came in under the estimated time for our move. The team was very experienced and incredibly friendly. Their rates are very reasonable - you get the most bang for your buck. Overall a good experience. We hired them for packing and moving from our condo to a new house. We completed an inventory ahead of time, did a video tour of the condo and they provided an estimate for the entire job. We also hired them to obtain and post the truck permits. Pros: great response time for communication, movers wore masks and were very friendly and easy to work with, all of our stuff arrived intact, packing job was relatively well labeled which made unpacking easier Cons: the biggest problem was that they really didn't provide an accurate estimate - despite the video tour and the inventory, the estimate they provided was almost 30% under the final cost. The moving guys kept commenting on all the stairs (which they knew about from our initial conversations) and ended up taking much longer than anticipated, and they even added more guys (= much more $$). When we settled up, they ended up giving us a 10% discount because the estimate was so far off the final. But it definitely was not ideal. read more

Unfortunately, I move pretty regularly. Even more unfortunately, they're often complicated, multi-stop moves that involve lots of stairs and otherwise complicated logistics. I discovered Intelligent about five years ago, and have always gotten exactly what I hoped for. Flash back five years ago - I had a couch in my apartment that had taken four adult men - fathers and boyfriends - the better part of an hour to finagle into the home. This couch kept me up at night worrying about how I'd get it out, even knowing that I'd retained Intelligent this time around. Our experience with Intelligent Movers was phenomenal. From our initial phone call to the day of the move, they were true professionals, reassuring, and fun to work with. This was absolutely the best moving company I have worked with, and the one that I intend to work with moving forward. They were careful with our belongings and wrapped items to ensure that corners were protected. They did not scrape walls. They strategized around difficult items and successfully navigated difficult spaces the first time around (unlike our previous moving experiences!!!). They were patient with some of our final odds and ends and ensured that every last item made it out of the first space. I just wanted to share how amazing Vinnie and his crew were yesterday for my wife and I's move! The arrived about five minutes early, and got to work right away.  They had to adapt during the first hour of the move around a car the was illegally parked in the loading zone. But that didn't phase them, they worked around it and the car was eventually towed away by Cambridge PD. So they for sure know how to deal with all obstacles! All members of the move team very courteous and professional. Even when we made it over to our new place, and we found out the service elevator wasn't working, they didn't miss a beat and took it with stride. Good thing there were other elevators, but it made the trips a little bit longer!  I would gladly higher through intelligent labor again in a heartbeat. When it was time to move after six years in our beloved apartment, we reached out to Intelligent Labor who had moved us into the place back in 2016. As was the case last time, they were wonderful and exceptionally easy to work with. We got a very quick response and they had our previous information on record so it was simple to update our moving inventory and get a quote. They sent a bigger crew this time, which may be partly why they powered through our move in 4.5 hours for a couple hundred less than the low end estimate. We'd also done our best to be organized and prepared in our packing and labeling to help streamline the process. The crew Vinnie, Julian, Abe, Chris, and Paul were all friendly, professional, and extremely efficient even with some very difficult pieces, heavy boxes, and a whole lot of stairs. We will absolutely hire them again for future moves and enthusiastically recommend them to others looking to make the highly stressful process of moving much less stressful. read more

I found my experience with Intelligent Labor & Moving; incl phone conv's and maybe 15+ emails, are not aligning with their YELP high ratings and reviews among customer's and repeat customers. I gave them a call on 7/29, looking for more info than I read here. The person I spoke with gave me the information that I asked her for: "...a 2-man team for AUG & SEPT: $130/hr (for the team, I guessed); or a 3-man crew for $180/hr. Then, she told me that 8/28 & 8/29 were Open if I wanted them, without cost or obligation and could be changed later. I took both days for a Pack & Move Services. She took my information and told me that the owner(s) will contact me to setup an onsite assessment for a Quote/Estimate. Which I had thought was a technicality and would be based on the quoted 2-man Team for $130/hr. I explained, again that we had only just put in an Offer. We'd not know until at least Monday whether to proceed or change moving plans, she went on to reply it's not a problem and that the owners will call me. A couple of hours later that same day, I received a phone call, to Schedule the "Onsite Estimate"! After re-explaining my whole situation, uncertain of the acceptance yet, but still wanting the 2-days I'd booked earlier. And asked this woman if I could have until Monday, that I promised to call back ON Monday (2-days away), which she agreed to. The next day, I received an email informing me that 8/28 & 8/29 dates were not available, but gave me 3 options: 9/1, 9/2, or the 9/4th! What? I quickly cancelled my services completely. However, later on this same day, I'd gotten another call back, apologizing for the mistaken message and confusion on their part. And that my PRE-Booking was Confirmed, but for one of the 2 days, on 8/29 only. Therefore, I cancelled the Packing service; figuring still, on a 2-person team for $130/hr, min 4hrs. Then, I got an email, the next day asking me to itemized all the contents of my home, and the sooner the better! I spent (on & off) like, a total of 2-hrs to fill out descriptions and counts ...chairs, tables, boxes, bookshelves, lamps ...etc, the whole house. Then come Monday, I received the following (other-worldly!) estimate: 6.25-8 hours labor and travel $2710-$3445 total cost Ehem...WHAT? What about the 1st quote you'd given me? You know?, the 2-man Team, AUG Rates = $130/hr?? read more

They are fantastic! I am VERY thankful I chose Intelligent Labor & Moving after doing a cr4p ton of research online and asking friends and getting quotes from multiple places! I hadn't moved in 8 years and was dreading moving day and everything leading up to it.. but their office rep answered all of my questions on the phone and email so patiently and walked me through the whole process. The two movers on the day of, were simply amazing - they were so efficient, professional and organized. They arrived exactly on time, made sure they confirmed everything with us (what i wanted them to take, what i was taking with me, what I was leaving behind and where i wanted something placed in the new apartment etc) and wrapped every little piece so carefully. NOTHING was damaged and in fact, they fixed some old wobbly shelves and a chair for me on their own after asking if i was ok with them doing that!! I was so worried about a large/long couch I had but they got it out the door in my old apartment by taking the door neatly off the hinge and putting it back after, and into the new apartment up a flight of stairs flawlessly. I also had a treadmill that they both moved like it weighed nothing.. They completed on, if not ahead of time and the quoted rate I had from before was perfect, no surprise charges. These guys are amazing. I was really nervous, having had a bad experience with movers before and knowing I was moving on the literal busiest day of the year for Boston. I soon learned I had nothing to worry about! The movers from Intelligent Labor were professional, kind, super fast and careful with my stuff. I booked about 4.5 months in advance - may seem crazy early but you can't really plan ahead too much when it comes to a 9/1 Boston move. They got back to me quickly compared to other companies, and provided a clear quote. I liked that they had the option to book an early morning move, to get going before the insane rush starts. I booked them for that first slot of the day. You can also pay extra for them to obtain parking permits (a requirement - so you can either pay the city for them yourself or pay extra for the moving company to get them). Day of, my two movers arrived right on time, took a quick look around and immediately got started. They finished loading my stuff extremely quickly, headed over to the new place, and unloaded extremely quickly too. In fact, the whole job came out to only 3.5 hours - and if you've booked a 9/1 move before, you'll know that most moving companies require a 4 hour minimum whether or not you need it! It's definitely not cheap to use movers, especially during the rush period, but I honestly believe the stress-free experience Intelligent Labor provided saved me from losing years off my life. You get what you pay for, and Intelligent Labor is 100% worth it, especially given their straightforward pricing, lack of minimum time and fantastic attitude! read more

We had a horrible experience with Intelligent Labor when moving from Arlington to Belmont. They charged us for their lunch hour, 30 minutes 'driving time' (when the trip was under 10 minutes), their smoking breaks, and the trip back to Cambridge. They told us we were lucky to have the team of 3 and gigantic truck (more than we needed or had asked for) for the whole day-- since they had a cancellation for the afternoon, we wouldn't be "rushed". In fact, they tried to extend our move for as long-- and expensive-- as possible. Our final bill (which we were shocked enough to pay without challenging-- our bad) was triple the highest estimate they provided before the fact. We had one couch, one bed, one table, one small television, and boxes (that were already packed-- most professionally, since we had recently moved from California). This wasn't a complicated move-- we didn't have any appliances, a piano or anything out of the ordinary. They also broke our storm door. It seemed like the lead mover's job was simply to rearrange things in the truck-- he never carried a single thing in or out. Instead of placing all of our bedroom, living room, and kitchen boxes together, he moved everything apart so that he would have to spend extra time once they got to the final destination. We moved on a weekend, and perhaps the team has a minimum amount they must charge for a weekend day? We felt incredibly ripped off and taken advantage of. read more

Incredible. Right on time, fast, hard working. Just incredible. They got the move done in three hours exactly and we came in far under their estimate (big tip: estimate the number of stuff you have on the high end just in case). And all that despite the fact that they couldn't use the ramp in the back of their truck because some jackass was parked in our permit space and the cops didn't show up in time to tow them. They even saved us money. We needed a hoist/lift to get our box spring into our old place so they quoted us at $50 for that. But when it came to it they managed to get it down the stairs. When we moved into our last place we needed to hire movers to get it up because we couldn't ourselves. The movers said the stairs "could not be done" and charged us almost $100 to use the a hoist/lift. That's just great service. Could not be happier with Intelligent. read more

Paul and Mit were amazing! I have moved a number of times, and I have had movers for about half of the moves in my life, but these guys were the best by far! I have seen the company's truck around Harvard Sq. a lot and then I saw that Yelpers have been showing them love, so I gave it a shot. I am so glad I did. I was moving a one bedroom apartment with a number of un-boxable electronics and over-sized furniture. They took great care of everything and moved it incredibly fast. I still had the whole day to unpack... that is another story. Instruments, flat screens, computers, sofas, end tables... all transported without a scratch and not one mark on the walls of either apartment. Also, the guys were just pretty damn cool! That does count for something when your moving as it is generally a stressful situation. This time it was far from stressful. Basically, I am saying - Use these guys!!! read more

My father suggested I find a mover on Craig's list instead of my usual tactic of conning a collection of brothers, ex boyfriends, and random people who happen to own trucks to help move. Instead of trusting my belongings to folks found on Craig's list, I went ahead and checked good ol' yelp.com and found Intelligent Labor and Moving. These guys are great! They arrived on time and moved me from Dorchester to Cambridge in about three hours. They were extremely friendly and patient. Every five minutes they had to deal with me or my dad going, "please, please, please if you have room on the truck can you add this tiny box?" and never failed to remind us, yet again, that there was plenty of room on the truck. They rearranged my room about 3 times (because I am that annoying) with a smile. They were very reasonable and gracious! I would definitely reccomend them! read more

So fourth time using Intelligent - and they keep delivering. This time it was helping to move my elderly parents from their home of 62 years to an apartment. They were amazing! They took such care of all their belongings, and then when they were at the apartment and my parents were being kind of difficult and picky, they were so patient and moved things around as asked. I have moved myself many times over the years and have had "professional" movers as well. This time I was helping my 73-year-old mother move to a new house. These guys were incredible in so many ways. Everything we threw at them they shrugged off and just said "this is what we do." She had 40 years of stuff and furniture that she loved. These guys treated every piece like it was from a museum. She couldn't have been happier on what I am sure was a very stressful day for her. We had changes several times that they accommodated and even got pushed back at the last minute due to bank issues at the closing. They took care of it all and stayed late on the day of the move-in to get her settled. I can't say enough how much I appreciate these guys. I had professional movers take my stuff across the country several years ago and of course they lost two of my most expensive boxes and somehow got out of paying for it. You ever have a plan not turn out quite the way that you want it to? One of my office locations was being renovated and I called some Joe-schmoe to come and move all the furniture and everything. Needless to say, not everything was taken away like it should have been (and I guess that's what I get for hiring a schmoe to do the work). So it's Friday at noon, and I have an office full of stuff that I need moved before Monday when the construction starts. A quick check of the Yelp got me to Intelligent Labor. After Zeke told me he could have people out the next day (a SATURDAY) to do the work, it almost didn't matter to me what the price was, but he did give me a detailed quote. The crew arrived on-time and ready to go (Paul and Ricky - they were great!). They treated everything with care, were quick and efficient, and explained everything they were doing to take care of my stuff. At the end of the job, the quote was spot-on what Zeke told me on the phone, so obviously the guy knows what he's doing and has done it a lot. The moral of the story? Don't hire a schmoe. Hire Intelligent Labor, and they'll get the job done for you the right way, right away. Five stars all around, this company is awesome!! read more

I will never move my own stuff again as long as these guys are in business. From contacting them to request a quote to paying the bill they were incredibly professional and a total pleasure to work with. They were on time and these dudes work hard! I should note that I was moving out of the North End of Boston and even though we pulled permits, people still left their cars in the way and Intelligent Labor and Moving were able to still make it happen in that tight space. They also know how to move things, sounds simple but what I mean is that they have respect for your belongings and know how to get it around tight corners and store it in a truck for transport without damage. Also, I quoted them against a number of other recommended movers and their price was right! I was so stressed out over moving and had I known I would get this kind of service I wouldn't have eaten all those cookies. read more

This is going to be a bit of a weird review, because so far the one thing I really wanted to get moved has yet to be moved, BUT... I have a piece of heavy equipment 48"x48"x28" @ 350lbs I need moved down a narrow hall, turned, and moved into a room. I contacted Intelligent Labor and they were great about scheduling a time and giving me an estimate. Today, they showed up right on time and went to work, and through no fault of their own the move is currently impossible. That being said... they were great! These guys tried HARD, within reason, to get that box through the door. In the end they've told me what I need to do to make it work, and I'm going to have them back to finish the job. I've never had such a positive experience with movers... polite, professional, and bang-on time is a huge win in my view. These guys showed up early, and finished quickly, often running between the truck and the house. A move to a 3rd story apartment took less than 3 hours. I would definitely suggest them, and also, they were extremely nice, and polite, and conscientious about your stuff.
