It's been a while since I've been to Grub. I was worried when I saw a new, bigger menu but everything we had was delicious. The Grub Buns are my favorite and the reason I keep going there. My BF fell in love with the chicken wonton soup (even got an order to go). My only critique is that the meat in the empanadas could've been chopped smaller as a lot came out in one bite. Service was friendly, although this one woman working the counter looked miserable. Plan to go back and try a burger!

The place is in a great location. Peaceful and quiet just how I like it. I will say the service was great had fantastic suggestions when asked. Tried the Curried Chicken empanadas as an appetizer. As mentioned earlier I went with a suggestion which was the drunken noodles and it was fantastic. The portion was big and filling. Will return again

It was crowded and they were BUSY on a working Wednesday. I guess the food being this good, it would be a destination! Grub by Chef Waree is a gem. We had the Stewed Beef soup with rice noodles. Umami was off the charts with the soup. That meant that each slurp of perfectly cooked noodle was nicely coated with enough tasty broth not to need anything else. What was important to me was the great blend of textures with Gailan nicely chopped and perfectly cooked, fresh bean sprouts, and the rice noodles and tender, tasty beef chunks. The Phad Thai with Crispy Duck was well flavored and nicely spicy for "medium". The phat thai was generously sauced without drowning in sauce. Great service and a welcoming atmosphere.

We got here at 5pm on a Saturday night so it hadn't gotten crazy yet. We'd tried to come months ago, but the wait was going to be an hour, so we left (they do take reservations for 3+ diners). We started with steamed shrimp dumplings. Very nice. And then we split Roti Chicken Canai (mild and tasty) and Red Curry Shrimp (medium hot, so be sure to check if the hot level is okay for you!) Our server (and owner?) was super attentive. They do a brisk take-out biz as well. The phone didn't stop ringing! Seems like they're hustling pretty well. Now that we know to come before the 6pm rush, we'll be back.

Lots of variety and so much to choose from. We ordered a variety of drinks + 14 dishes, and most of them we loved. We loved the red curry with crispy cod and the the mussels. The garlic wings and lettuce wraps were also delicious. Save room for the mango sticky rice and mango cheesecake. Place is small and not made for crowds. So parties of 4 or less do better here. We had an awesome server that was super helpful and he was patient. We will be back to try more dishes...just not the Laksa Soup Noodles. We tried the duck and shrimp version of this. If you like a sweet broth this might work for you though. Our lychee cocktail and iced tea was so yummy! One of the two fresh coconuts tasted like it was old and fermented. So avoid that as I think it's from the freezer or sitting around too long.

    spicy thai chicken lettuce wraps

super skimpy on the lettuce wraps. was hoping the first time i ordered it was just a blip but it's bad. the first time i got them there were 3 baby shrimp in a huge thing of lettuce

Haven't been here since they moved. Seems they left there flavor and took the old oil from last place. Really disappointed with everything. Oil seemed old you can taste it in everything they fried. Chicken was dried out and over fried. Empanadas over fried with same shitty oil. The curried chicken one was good filling but the same over fried dough . Tried the vegetable dumpling and all it had was potato mushy filling. Weird. Ordered chicken pad Thai. Was hard to find the chicken. Way too sweet dry with no spice. Coconut garlic rice was good but usually it's long grain rice. Chicken with it over fried and dry. Had the grub beef bun. It was flavorful but the beef dried out too. Will try once more because I love the fusion concept just wasn't executed good

If you do dine here, I suggest skipping the appetizers and going straight to the main course options. Regarding the apps, the duck pancake was actually in a green wrap (which seemed odd) and the sauce overpowered the bits of duck inside. The spring rolls were large and had what looked to be alternative meat or something with similar consistency and didn't seem overall that fresh. The fried spring rolls were "ok." The best thing was the pad prik with veggies and tofu which wasn't oily but also didn't feel like it was amazing. It appears you can order online when they're open which is a plus if you hate using the phone. I'll leave the caveat that I'm not a Thai food connoisseur but usually enjoy it. I wish that I felt more positive since it's a small business! Maybe I'd give them another chance if I was eating in the restaurant. Metered street parking and doesn't seem too hard to find parking. No credit card processing fee.

Everything we had was delicious. We tried their off-menu corned beef spring roll (highly recommend!) and then shared a mix of classics: Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Thai Basil Fried Rice. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and truly delicious -- a great Thai option in the area! I went with my dad and husband; my dad had been before and recommended we go, and he was totally right. We would definitely go back!

I recently stopped by Karenderya in Nyack looking for some good Asian comfort food, and it definitely hit the spot. Known for delicious, made-from-scratch dishes, they were flavorful, fresh, and clearly cooked with care. The menu offers a wonderful introduction to Filipino cuisine, with hearty, satisfying dishes that feel comforting, taste scrumptious, and speaking for myself - as I rarely go to Filipino eateries due to my location, unique. The cashier/waitress was attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout my visit. While the atmosphere is fairly simple and not really the reason to come here, the focus is clearly on the food, and that's where Karenderya shines. This is an excellent option for takeout, and many of the dishes would be perfect to bring to a potluck or family gathering. Despite Nyack's often challenging parking situation, I found parking easy enough nearby, which was a pleasant surprise. Service can be slow when crowded, be forwarned. If you're looking for authentic, delicious Filipino-inspired food and don't need a fancy dining room, Karenderya is absolutely worth a visit.

I came here after a hike on Saturday to meet up with the Millennial Chum for a late lunch/early dinner. It had been a while since my last trip to Nyack (honestly it might have been their Halloween pet costume contest a few years ago, when a Mandalorian-inspired outfit won instead of the much-deserved Marty McFly from Back to the Future, but it is what it is), and wasn't looking forward to the parking situation on a nice weekend afternoon. That turned out not to be an issue because Karenderya is in the "rougher" part of town, such as it is, a few blocks from the main downtown area closer to 287. Not bad, but a little more blue collar. And more parking spots! I liked the vibe inside. Kind of quiet and understated, with a spiffy little bar to the side and a lot of old school wooden chairs/tables. We were probably a very strange sight - I was trying not to look like too much of a mess after being on the trails all day, and my chum was the exact opposite, classy perfection after a bridal or baby shower. To their credit, no one here batted an eye and they let us sit at a table of our choosing. We opted for a window seat and kept an eye out for the pooches. I knew going in that the one item I had to order was the lumpia from the apps section, which is pretty much the only Filipino food I'm familiar with. I used to work with a Filipino who'd make these for an annual event, and they were delicious, basically an edgy spring roll that has pork and seasoning in them. Super tasty, and these were exactly like I remembered them - a real highlight. It came with a sweet chili sauce that perfectly complemented the savory rolls. I decided to also get the crispy potatoes with calamansi bagoong aioli; another banger. Again, the apps rock. Even if you're not that comfortable with edgier, ethnic food, these are the perfect balance of unique but also safe and mainstream in a lot of ways. The entree was a tougher call for me but I went with the Fried Crispy Chicken, the rice bowl version. Eh. I think my biggest issue was that it's pretty dry - there's a soy sauce accompaniment but it's not one of my favorites (that's arguably on me, right?). As a result, even though the chicken itself was packed with some flavor, overall this could have used something else. This also comes up with katsu chicken for me - I really only like it if it's got the curry too. Lesson learned. I did bring a lot of it home and enjoyed it significantly more when I was able to rescue it with some of my BBQ sauce. We weren't in a rush so I wasn't paying particularly close attention to it, but the service seemed fine. Maybe it took a little longer to order but that might just be my perception because I was pretty famished post-hike. Everyone we interacted with was very nice; again, I think you give bonus points given that I probably looked like a wild animal and yet was treated like a human. This may not be at the very top of my list in the area, but there was enough here to justify a return trip for sure. And it was nice to avoid the chaos of the downtown area and quickly get in and out of this tourist trap.
