I absolutely love when small family owned-and-operated businesses retain that look as it keeps the tradition and heritage alive and well. I came here with my lady during the afternoon on Saturday 8/22/2026 at around 2:00pm. Parking was surprisingly easy to find as the surrounding area has an abundance of mid-century homes. Upon entry, you are greeted with the aroma of freshly baked bread, well-stocked aisles of cookies, jams/jellies, homemade pastas, olive oils, sauces, spices, wines, and even their own merchandise that includes t-shirts, mugs, and other unique items. Much of the Italian groceries are similar to what you'd find in a bigger city like San Francisco. The real winner here are the sandwiches. During their regular business hours which are 6:30am-4pm during the week and 6:30am-2:30 on Saturday, they have multiple employees rolling out a wide variety of their award-winning sandwiches. They carry some of the best Italian cold cuts including Hot Coppa, Mortadella, Prosciutto, and Pancetta. And when you pair that up with some amazing cheeses on their own warm Genova bread, that is an ultimate combination. Since we had come a little bit later in the day, much of the homemade breads were sold out. However, we did purchase a loaf of their milk bread which we used for sandwiches and even French toast for breakfast. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sunday. However, if you come for a sandwich, you might experience a little bit of a wait during their lunch rush. But the good news is that the prices here are very reasonable at only $10 for a fully loaded sandwich (which is less than many grocery store delis). All in all, this was a very pleasant surprise as I had never stepped foot into this small business until 2026. With excellent service, decent prices, but a smaller amount of baked goods than other bakeries, I am giving "Genova Bakery" an above average four-star rating.

As we stood at the front of the restaurant, we saw there was one couple dining on the left and one dining on the right. Not overly busy. A young woman approached us. I happily say, "Two for dinner, please." She says sorry but the kitchen closes at 8 pm. My wife looks at her watch, and it's 7:58 pm. I tell her we're from Tracy and we drove a while to get there. She half chuckles and says, "The kitchen closes at 8, but you can stay for drinks." Uhhh no, we wanted dinner. So, we tell her it's not 8 pm yet, and she looks half heartedly towards the kitchen, and tells us, "You can come early tomorrow". My wife thought she sounded condescending. I'd tend to agree because she was still chuckling under her breath. She didn't try to check with the kitchen to see if they'd seat us. And because she seemed more like she wanted to shoo us from the place rather show any modicum of empathy, I am now swearing off this restaurant. It's tough to win new, loyal customers. If any of our friends or family ask about Nordic Bites, you can be sure I'll emphasize the service we never received. This place was recommended by my friend who lives in the area. I decided to give the place a try since I needed to meet my cousin who goes to UOP. First, I would like to commend the ambiance of the shop. It was very inviting and it gave a different vibe from the other coffee shops I've been to in the area. This place was very clean, organized, and very orderly in their prep area. I love love the drink I had, I got the Sunset. It was a cold brew but it had these chocolate notes- it was crazy but very good. My cousin got the Hammered and I got to try it. The workers said that it's the most popular in the menu, and it was a very good recommendation so I also recommend this drink! I also do not understand the other people's comments about the pastries. I got a bear claw, and it was outstanding. They said the pastries come fresh every mornings and they deliver from the Bay Area, so they don't make them there at the shop. My cousin got the Piazza panini, and I got the other half. It was very flavorful so this is also worth getting. Overall, I definitely recommend this place, as it stands out from all of the coffee shops I've ever been to! They placed the bars super high for me, so next time, I'll be super picky with the other coffee places I visit. read more

I've given this place quite a few times. Most of the time the staff isn't friendly, like a bunch of teen girls just wanting to cash their check. One time they even forgot my order and didn't even have the milk i requested after waiting 15 mins. Then when i was asked if another option was okay i told them no & the one girl that wears glasses and has colored eyes made a smirk noise under her breath. The matcha is very bad. It's not the vibrant green, but swamp water color. Coffee is ehh, taste burnt. Id recommend other coffee places over this one. But to each their own! Hi Mark i appreciate your response! I can agree to disagree. I stated i wanted almond milk & she forgot my order. There were probably 2 people in the store, but they also had their drink. This particular lady I've encountered has been not welcoming more than once. So i waited 15 mins for a drink that i couldn't have made correctly due to her forgetting it and also forgetting the milk you guys had in stock. I visited Groundstack Coffee and really appreciated their concept -- they focus on unique, natural flavors in both coffee and tea, without using syrups. That's something you don't see everywhere, and it makes the experience feel more authentic. The coffee itself was good -- well-balanced and thoughtfully made. It's definitely not a cheap place, but you can tell they care about quality. The service was also great: friendly, attentive, and helpful. The atmosphere inside is cozy and inviting, a nice spot to relax and enjoy your drink. The only downside for me was the restroom situation. For a place that pays so much attention to detail, having a clean and comfortable restroom is important -- it's part of what makes a cafe feel truly complete. Groundstack Coffee is a fantastic spot for coffee lovers! The warm, inviting atmosphere and friendly staff make it an ideal place. The coffee is exceptional--smooth, rich, and clearly crafted with care. Whether it's a classic coffee or one of their creative specialty drinks, everything is top-notch. I liked how when I walked in they asked if I had any questions about their menu. A plus! It's a great spot to hang out or get some work done in a calm and cozy environment. Parking can be a bit tricky with the busy Pacific Avenue traffic, but once you're inside, it's well worth the effort. This is definitely a spot I'll be visiting again and again! read more
