I'm always a fan of a local coffee shop and this one was conveniently located to meet up with some friends ahead of dinner. The cafe is open and welcoming with different types of seating that can accommodate single diners, small groups and even medium sized groups. It was bright inside and they had the WiFi password prominently displayed, which makes this feel like a great study or remote work space and they were open a bit later. They offer coffee, tea, and snacks and we purchased a tea and coffee and sat for a while to catch up. The drinks were delicious and the team here was really helpful in selecting the drinks. This is a quiet little gem. If you need a place to study or meet a small study group, this is a good location. I'm kind of hesitant to share because I love that this place isn't super busy when I've been, but they deserve your business. There's 5 small tables, a few window seats, a couch and coffee table, and a larger bench table. They also have free WiFi and a few plugs. They display local artists work on the walls and the place just has a cute vibe. The menu is specialty coffee and tea, so don't come looking for a white mocha (lol). All the flavors and extracts are natural, so no fake syrups! I ordered the Hammered and it had such a nice flavor of macadamia nuts. They also have a small selection of pastries and food. Best coffee shop in Stockton, hands down. I always get Thorton's Thorns, it's literally perfect--The rich flavors from the perfectly brewed coffee and the natural ingredients, mixed with the perfect amount of sweetness make this drink a 10000/10. I don't live in the area anymore but when I visit Stockton this is the first place on my list. The employees are always so nice and willing to help you understand the menu and the process. I was also able to take my medium sized dog inside the cafe while waiting for my drink, which I truly appreciate. Free street parking is available all around the block; I haven't had any issues with finding a spot. The cafe is also spacious with plenty of seats and tables available. It also gets great natural lighting, which I love. It's just a cozy, down to earth coffee shop and I can't say enough good things about it. Knowing I had to run an errand in Stockton, I did some research on coffee shops prior to landing on Groundstack Coffee. What sold me on coming here was that they use natural ingredients and steer away from artificial flavors. Located close to UOP, they have a small parking lot for several businesses. Late on a weekday morning, parking wasn't an issue the day I visited. Based on what tried, I think the cold brews are the highlight of the menu. While "Hooked on Wilson" was fine, I didn't really taste much lavender. (It was still a good drink though!) The Presidio was very refreshing, and I really enjoyed this drink since I love the taste of mint. Service was great. Upon discovering I was a new customer the menu was explained and recommendations were offered. I sat and drank my coffee for a short while. There were plenty of tables and chairs. As a side note, getting to restroom requires going through a couple doors and turning a few corners. Very glad I stopped by Groundstack! This great coffee place made my trek to Stockton (from Elk Grove) much more enjoyable. read more

I'm in town for work. Looked up coffee places by the hotel and wanted something local. Eventually settled on Groundstack. I walked in and was immediately greeted by great customer service. They inquired if it was my first time in and proceeded to breakdown their process (aeropress) to me. Asked me for my typical preferred drink and then recommended their "version". Parking was super easy to find outside the coffee shop. It turned out to be one of the best coffees I have had - great cafe, chatted with the owner who recommended a few options. Tried Hanmered, and wow! Very impressive drink with macadamia and coconut flakes. The uniqueness is the french press is made fresh with flavors from real nuts, spices etc - you can actually taste it vs the syrups with loads of sugar. Solid coffee spot! I'm sad they were out of their matcha but I opted to tried their Lorenzo brew iced as well as their recommendation of "Ben's favorite" also iced. The Lorenzo was solid, nice and strong. The Ben's favorite was not something I would personally choose but it was a good light flavor and I can totally see why it is a favorite for many. The worker was so kind and almost overwhelmed me with options but his passion for his work shined through and as I told him I would rather have more options than less! In my chat with him I did learn their inspiration is Philz coffee and I can completely taste that in their Ben's favorite (it was ever so slightly reminiscent of their Philtered Soul). I've been here 3x now so I feel that I now have a worthy enough opinion to give on this place. First of all the owner Mark is so incredibly kind and friendly. He is always welcoming and is easy to make conversation with! The first time I visited, was a rainy day and so a friend and I decided to order some hot drinks. I decided to get a typical London fog. I believe the barista (Andy?) was helping my friend try to make a decision but she eventually settled on a chai latte. After he made them I remember he mentioned to let him know if we needed any customization to our drinks i.e. extra agave/more milk. My friend ended up not enjoying her chai and asked if he could just make her another London fog. He was so understanding and made it promptly! The second time I visited was a hotter day and so a friend and I opted for iced drinks. Andy was there to help us make a decision. We ordered a peach mango refresher and mango seaside. I don't really love incredibly sweet drinks but this was the perfect balance. Not too sweet but also not overbearing. The piazza de Ferrari which is like a pesto spinach cheese panini wasn't too bad but I felt missed a bit of spice or something? Overall I throughly enjoy this place, it's quiet with students usually studying and enough space to converse with a friend. The lil plants inside are soo cute and there's a mini library to borrow a book if you need. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Impeccable, local coffee! I first found out about Groundstack Coffee when browsing DoorDash. I tried the Sunset cold brew (chocolate and nutmeg notes) and its decadent flavor caught me by surprise! Literally said "holy sh*t" when taking the first sip. I stopped by in person twice now, parking has been easy to find! The shop itself is tidy and spacious, with a detailed menu describing exactly what each items are. Mark is great, it was nice to conversate with him about coffee and learning more about the shop. I tend to make the long drive to other cities just to get good coffee, so I'm grateful that we have Groundstack Coffee right here in Stockton! My girlfriend and I stopped by Groundstack Coffee while in town for a wedding, wanting to support a local spot recommended by friends. Mark greeted us warmly at first, and my girlfriend placed the order while I grabbed a seat. The coffee was fine, but the experience wasn't great. When I picked up the coffee and thanked him, Mark didn't acknowledge it and gave me a bit of side-eye. We also felt his stare while we were sitting, which was uncomfortable. As we were leaving, he shouted for us to pay, and that's when we realized there had been a mix-up--he hadn't asked my girlfriend to pay when she ordered, and I assumed she had.
