My girlfriend and I stopped by Groundstack Coffee while in town for a wedding, wanting to support a local spot recommended by friends. Mark greeted us warmly at first, and my girlfriend placed the order while I grabbed a seat. The coffee was fine, but the experience wasn't great. When I picked up the coffee and thanked him, Mark didn't acknowledge it and gave me a bit of side-eye. We also felt his stare while we were sitting, which was uncomfortable. As we were leaving, he shouted for us to pay, and that's when we realized there had been a mix-up--he hadn't asked my girlfriend to pay when she ordered, and I assumed she had. He could've clarified earlier instead of waiting until we were leaving. It made for an awkward and unpleasant experience overall. read more

I was in the area this past weekend and decided to check this place out. I came around noon on a Sunday. The ambiance is modern and welcoming. The interior is open and spacious, and there is a variety of seating. I was very intrigued by the drinks under Blends and Extracts. I love the unique names. I usually go for a medium roast so I asked the staff for their recommendation in that category. I was recommended the Thornton's Thorns, so I got that. The balance of sweetness and coffee flavor was perfect for me, so I very much enjoyed the drink. My brother got the Lands End, which was less sweet and had a more intense coffee flavor. It fit his taste palette and was great for him. Overall, I like this place. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area! read more

A previous review stated this was "the best coffee in Stockton" and I absolutely agree-- easily. I've been a few times, and I can attest that the coffee is consistently great; the flavors are rich, high-quality and fresh. The ambiance and decor is inviting, welcoming and warm-- the perfect relaxed vibe for studying or catching up with friends. And the staff are always nice and friendly. So let me start off by saying I did check out the Instagram page first because I tend to like to try things that are not on the menu. However, they didn't have what I saw on Instagram, but they did have a good majority of other selections. I was very satisfied with the Thorntons Thorn, medium roast coffee drink. I sipped very slowly so I could savor every ounce. The staff was very friendly and provided lots of information on their process of coffee. I like the fact that they use real ingredients and no syrups. I'm definitely coming back during seasonal drinks because I can't wait to taste more drinks. I had a decaf latte here as a quick little treat with one of their syrups ! I like sweet drinks and barista was helpful and patient with recommendations. Would probably ask for less ice next time since they use a lot of big ice and my drink started getting diluted after a few minutes. Presidio tasted just like a Philz Mint Mojito! It's a small business with a chill vibe inside if you want to do some studying, or even just get out the house. The workers were nice and helped me decide on what to get based on my taste. I love coming here! Mark is the best! I've been on a special diet and haven't been able to have coffee for the last month. He made a special iced green tea with chicory powder and coconut palm sugar for me to fit my diet. It totally helped fill the craving for coffee and it's yummy! Also, they now have Silvanas from Ellis Creamery out of Tracy in Ube, Oreo, pistachio, and cashew. Can't wait to have those when I'm less restricted in what I can eat (I believe pistachio and cashew are gluten free) It's a cool vibe and people are always friendly. So far my favorite coffee I have tried in Stockton since I've moved here! Saw this place for a while on my coffee shop search list and finally had a chance to try on my day off. Located next to Pho Island and Siamese Street.Modern coffee shop with 7-8 tables, a community bench, a couch, and some window seating perfect for meeting up with a friend or getting some work done (yes they have wifi!). They have a simple menu of teas and coffees as well as paninis. They don't do espressos, mochas, if you are actively seeking those. Rather, they specialize in French Press coffees (can opt for hot or cold) which involve using natural ingredients without syrups, per their menu description. Price range of $5-6 dollars depending on size. When I first walked in, the owner was super nice--he asked me if it was my first time here. I just told him to make me a large signature coffee that was on the sweeter side with non-dairy mild. Got a Large It's March (Butter toffee almond and figs) with Oat Milk, per his rec. Really enjoyed it--nice and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness without being excessive. You could really taste the roast. Would definitely come again to hang out; some people have been raving about the Imperial Matcha as well; I would have to spend more time getting through the menu :) read more

It's also so close to UOP (walking distance) but parking can be a bit difficult when the plaza gets busy. The shop itself is really cute and clean. My only concern that prevents me from going on coffee dates is how quiet it is. I feel like I'm being being a public disturbance if I am there with my friend and we are talking at a normal volume. Not really sure why this place has so many good reviews that was definitely not my experience. I did order through DoorDash so I didn't experience in person at location but I did pay $20 for a medium coffee and a breakfast sandwich that were so awful that I just threw them away completely inedible. The coffee smelled and tasted of burnt plastic and had weird film floating on top. The Egg Bacon And Cheese Biscuit was not safety packaged did not come with extra bacon that I paid for but honestly even more bacon couldn't of saved this thing. It was dry and flavorless with what looked like fake frozen egg. So incredibly disappointed paid for lots of extras but just ended up throwing away and ordering somewhere else. Coffee is very strong. This place is just coffee. And I like that you can customize how they make it like drip or whatever. I tried the brown sugar one with half and half. It tastes okay too me, not as good compared to other places in town. Price is a little expensive. The place looks nice, especially for study dates. It was my first time coming to this place and it was an amazing experience! I came near the morning where not much people came yet, but Mark, the owner immediately greets you which made my morning and overall day because I've been stressed on school etc. but he noticed I was new and was happy to explain the menu and what specialities they had which was wonderful especially for someone who hasn't been before. The coffee I chose was the most popular cold brew, the Sunset and I tell u it was so good as well as the Empire State! The decorations were so welcoming and there was enough space to study or work on the laptop as well. I wish I had time to say goodbye and thank u to Mark for providing that boost of energy for me today. Would definitely come back again looks like I found a new cafe to work/study at! I went to go pick up my printing next to this coffee shop and fell in LOVE. The vibe: is giving modern, sheek, industrial... they still need to put up decorations and finish decor on the wall. Some dope black and white photos would be Amazing. The signage: well I really need them to buck up on this a bit. Their outside sign is not that noticeable. Hey they only been there for two months ... I will give them 2 more lol! Also nowhere posted is their store hours.. I know they have it on internet but we need a store hour sign. The coffee: Someone told me they were like Philz coffee in the Bay Area but TBH I am a HUGE HUGE Philz fan and this place was legit betters I can't believe I just said those words. I ordered the fishermen's wharf. It was a 9/10 for me because it was go sweet for my liking but listen people I drink my coffee BLACK like my heart! LOL so get this cold brew drink! I also ordered the MINT drink and it was fabulous 10/10. The people: I met the sweetest people working behind the bar. They were kind and awesome! People we need to blow this place up! Comparable to Philz Coffee in terms of playing with flavors without using syrups Cons: -My stomach wasn't strong enough for the acidity of the light roast -No espresso -Parking is limited -Extra charge for iced drinks -The caffeine (from the light roast) didn't hit as hard. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Groundstack yet. It's a small owned business! The owner, Mark, is very kind so I just really like to support them. Not the to mention, as you'll read in the review - the coffee is addicting and there's always room there to do my studies. It's not like a normal coffee shop with espresso machines and artificial syrups. They specialize in the French press and use natural flavorings. The flavor is infused in the coffee; idk how but they pride themselves on it. Btw, I use to assume their coffee was not strong because of how smooth it is. However, I am now cautious about how late in the day I drink Groundstack coffee because one time, I could not sleep which is unusual. So I know the strength of their coffee now and will make it a priority to get it only in the morning. The menu may be intimidating bc it's not like normal coffee shops where a caramel macchiato will taste about the same wherever you go, (for example). However, I implore you to try my favorite, "Pacific View," which is infused with dates and figs (something I would never think of trying). It's soooo good! My old favorite was "Hammered" but was quickly replaced by Pacific View hehe. I really ought to try other items on their menu but Pacific View is so addicting.
