There were four of us and we ate every single bite. The entrees were very tasty (the whole trout was excellent as were the meatball and roasted carrot appetizers). To offer a little constructive criticism we'd suggest the accompaniments could be diversified to provide better balance though we admire the decision to offer local produce in season. The food is expensive enough to be profitable without a somewhat offensive corkage fee. Overall, a fine dining experience. read more

We went there for a birthday celebration awhile ago. We weren't impressed. My cocktail tasted like window cleaner. The hostess hovered. A workstation for servers was in the center of the dining room and we were next to it. The menu was pedestrian, (hamburgers and "oreos"?) and the food was meh. Nothing I couldn't make better at home. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to sit our party of 3 at the bar right away. The staff provided great service. We all enjoyed our crafted drinks and the food was delicious. We shared the shrimp rolls for appetizers. For dinner one of use had the cheese burger and the other two had the cavatelli pasta and both were tasty. My wife and I were in McMinnville for a few days and wandered across this cute new restaurant in downtown. Not surprisingly, it was a Friday and reservations were largely booked. So, we took a chance and walked in. Luckily, someone had just canceled and we got a table. This turned into one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We have literally traveled around the world and this place ranks among the best ever. We were greeted by wonderful and engaging staff and a menu with a range of options. My wife had the special, short ribs with polenta, and I ventured among the many appetizers, selecting the hazelnuts with pork belly, meatballs with mushrooms, and the roasted carrot salad. I wanted to sample the skill of preparation and tastes. Simply put, the food was amazing. The breadth of flavors and aromas was captivating, paired with outstanding wines. It left me wanting more. By chance, we were sitting next to the owner and his wife and friends. As we gushed over the experience with our server, she introduced us and he told of the story surrounding the restaurant. We were also introduced to the executive chef and heard from him speak of his passion for his craft and the food. I cannot tell you how wonderful this all was. Wow, what a great addition to the McMinnville scene. Humble spirit is approachable and sophisticated all at the same time. They feature delicious, sustainable grown produce and meat dishes perfectly prepared. We had stuffed trout, pork loin and a roast chicken that were to die for. The chicken was off the charts delicious. The table beside us was raving about the burger too. We also have an excellent beet salad. The wine list is thoughtfully curated with a nice variety of small regions and producers from Europe and some smart choices from the Pacific Northwest. Mi wife and I went to Humble Spirit for our anniversary, October 24, an experience that was entirely underwhelming. Salad service was not accompanied by an offer of ground pepper, or any inquiry regarding quality. One dinner was served luke-warm, the other much cooler and unacceptable. The cooler dinner was returned to the kitchen and we were informed that the chef was preparing a replacement anew, which would be ready "in four minutes." Fifteen minutes (or so) later a warmer, yet smaller, version of the dinner was delivered to the table, after the first diner was done eating. During the dinner no wait staff visited the table to inquire regarding meal quality or satisfaction, or to see whether anything else was needed. After plates were removed, no dessert menu was offered; there was not even an inquiry as to whether dessert was desired. Overall, we got the distinct impression that wait staff and kitchen were too busy to attend to our dining experience, and that we were neither noticed nor desired as customers. My family was in the higher-end restaurant business for more than 50 years. Given this experience, I would not recommend spending anything near the cost of this meal at this restaurant. read more

The food was good , don't go there hungry. Had the Pasta that was made with no protein although very tasty, but the portion so small it was a joke. I ordered the large and I'm thinking wow,what would the small be like. One in our party ordered a slice of tomato on his hamburger and was charged 1.00 extra. If you wanted bread you had pay for it . There was 5 of us and the bill with tip was almost $200.00. Don't mind paying but don't like to feel that we got taken. read more
