Great dinner at Grinder in Montreal. The burger was delicious. At first it appears small but the patty is so think it will fill you up!!! BUT leave space for dessert. Not sure of the name but it's like pancake with maple syrup and Ice cream. AMAZING. Great service and ambience.

Ribeye with N'duja butter, side of potatoes "aligot".

Had a special birthday dinner with my husband here, who had made a surprise reservation, based on the recommendation of a local friend. Seated promptly, and had great service throughout. Just enough attention without the server being too intrusive. The atmosphere was great, a kind of Chelsea loft / hipster modern vibe. Ordered the ribeye (15oz) which came with a N'duja butter side for added flavor that was not at all necessary. The steak was cooked and seared to perfection, and was a good cut of beef. This aspect they clearly know what they are doing. Accompanied by some red wine, which was also good. Side dish was potatoes "aligot", which I guess is a fancy way of saying mashed potatoes with aged cheddar. Very nice and creamy/fluffy.

This is a very nice steakhouse. Can't say anything is out of this world but they know what they are doing. The sharing plates are a fantastic deal. Service was spot on and fast. It's an industrial building with a young vibe. I would come back here with the guys again for sure.

    Surf & Turf for Two

On a recent trip to Montreal we decided to try Grinder based on great reviews and we were absolutely not disappointed. We called for a reservation (which is recommended) and were able to sit at the bar at the time we wanted. The bar is super comfortable and spacious and we loved the service. Bartenders were so nice and took great care of us. We ordered the surf and turf for two with a NY strip, lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops. We also had the delicious french fries and mushrooms. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, as ordered, and the seafood was incredible. The lobster tail literally melted in my mouth! The restaurant has an extensive and good wine list and a full bar. We had a bottle of Chianti to share. It was a perfect date night in Montreal and we are so glad we decided to splurge. This place is a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it for a special occasion!

Came here for some good steak when visiting Montréal, not only we had great steak, lobsters, Scallops also enjoyed delicious onion soup, sashimi, dessert and fabulous cocktails. Services was efficient given they were extremely busy. Every table was packed. But still managed to serve the foods and drinks at a reasonable pace. The open kitchen concept was great, small but lively. Bathrooms are tiny. Very European but clean. This place Can get loud but the vibe is super fun. LGBT friendly. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly great steakhouse with seafood options. Recommend the caesar salad, generous portion not drowning in dressing. Good selection of wines by the glass. Tuna tartare had a welcome sweet citrus note. The RIBEYE was AMAZING, cooked perfectly with an amazing sear and flavor (watch out Joe Beef), almost worth 79$. Even thought it was busy on a Tuesday night, service was good and the place was pretty crowded. Definitely a special occasion, hip, and trendy place (mostly because it's expensive). Valet parking available (but we walked).

Rib steak with side mushroom and rappini
    Michael K.

Was in the mood for a great steak. Located on the heart of the city. Street parking was very hard to find but they have valet parking if needed. There is also public transport available. Reservations are must as the place is usually very busy I ordered the in steak with mushrooms and rappini. The rib steak is my favorite cut and asked to have it done to medium. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Can taste the char on the steak. The mushrooms were seasoned very nice and came out hot and was a nice add on to the steak. The downside was the rappini as it was cold and had no seasoning. We had to send back the rappini and we did not want it back. Thé atmosphère is a fun upbeat place and is a great place to go for some good food and a great vibe. Enjoy

While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn't quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it's possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher's cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.

Our server was really good and the food was really good. We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

Now to the food: we got a variety of oysters, all of which were delicious!! I coulda had a second round, but my date loves escargot so we did that instead -- extremely rich but always tasty. From there we went straight into entrees, I got the duck breast which was tender and lovely! So filling, so delicious. But my date chose even better with the rabbit. Omg. But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. Why don't more places serve foie gras like this? Genius! We got the pork chop, paparadelle pork ragu and a side of the salt and maple sugar fries. All were good, but the foie gras still had them beat. The fries had nice flavor, but we were really disappointed that we got the tail end of the fry basket. The bottom and middle of our order was all the broken bits. I felt a bit deceived. We got the pudding chomeur that people said was a classic dessert with a scoop of ice cream.
