We reserve our seats for 3 for dinner on a Saturday and were impressed with the swiftness we were looked after. We were reminded that it was a BYOB, which was a very nice touch. I got a msg on my phone, seconds after that our table was reserved. While we brought our own bottle, the waitress opened our bottle and we poured our own wine from start to finish. Atmosphere was casual, somewhat loud but not unpleasant. Service was fast with our waitress being OK. Just the very bare minimum. Appetizers were snail with garlic/cheese and a deep fried goat cheese were excellent. New York streak and bavette de boeuf served medium rare were tender but a tad too cooked. Overall, a good restaurant to go to from time to time, with BYOB.

We tried it after several recommendations. I had steak frites , it was ok . He had filet and lobster tail which was fantastic. Service was ok . But acoustics are awful . Much too loud. BYOB and no cork fee

Tried this one night with my husband when we were craving steak and frites! The restaurant is a good size but still feels cozy. We waited a little over 45 minutes for our food. We were really hungry and almost left, but we were really hungry and figured it couldn't possibly be much longer- so we stayed- and waited. When it finally arrived, we were quite pleased with our dinners. The steak was cooked as ordered, was tender, and very flavorful. It was served atop really fresh green beans tossed in olive oil with salt. They were really good green beans! The fries were as expected. I had my steak with Bernaise sauce on the side and that was flavorful and fresh as well. The price was reasonable for the quality. It was a very good meal. Worth the wait? Yes. Just don't go starving and in a hurry!

They serve up a great duck and that's not usually what i would order at a steak house but since all their beef is over marinated I knew the duck was the dish to pick. Decided Friday night date night would be steak frite as I've always been a fan until one bad trip to the saint sauver location. We brought a great bottle of red and had a nice spot beside the window, the place wasn't to busy but it did have a nice vibe inside with a bit of chatter but nothing CRAZY. We were served their signature warm buns with butter and flat water while we waited on our entree and mains. I did the goat cheese which came with a pesto sauce on the side and grilled peppers and onions. It was good but I wish it was a little more home made compared to something frozen they just dropped in the fryer. The bang bang shrimp were great just the right amount of kick (spice) to keep things interesting. The mains came and boy oh boy did they not disappoint. My duck was cooked perfectly with a perfectly paired reduction of Asian sauce and very buttery crispy green beans with yellow carrots. The French fires are thin and crispy and of course unlimited so don't be shy even tho they do give you a hefty amount. Service was quick and the waiters were beautiful on the inside and out, even the owner was a polite happy go lucky guy. Gotta say I will be adding this to our date nights possibilities for next time.

Got reservations for 6:30 pm, a group came after us and they were served way before us. Let's say we didn't get our food till 8:30 pm. Everything was super delayed, food was mediocre. The escargot was super dry with no buttery sauce (didn't even come with some bread), my steak wasn't even medium rare any longer. At that point I was just eating it because I'm starving and been waiting for so long! The only good side to this is being Able to bring your own alcohol. Definitely wouldn't come back especially this location.

The name says it all ... a steak restaurant specializing in the National dish of France. Good steaks, good prices and excellent service.

Here we go again - if I could, I would give this place 3.5 stars - but... We visited for dinner. First, very importantly - this restaurant is BYOB! We had no idea (and didn't expect Belgium restaurant not to serve Belgium beer, but oh well). Note - absence of alcohol didn't affect the rating. Now, for the actual challenges. We didn't get any bread for the table. Okay, no big deal, right? But then I ordered escargot as a starter, and still got no bread, which now became a challenge of leaving all the tasty bits aside. My main dish was steak frites with a side of poutine. The steak was okay, not amazing (you know, it had that liver aftertaste - nothing wrong with it, but also nothing amazing). Mushroom sauce was excellent, it was the only thing which made steak palatable. The poutine was a disappointment. Soggy fries, lots and and lots of cheese curds which were not melting, and most importantly, a very strange gravy - it tasted as something from the can, the mass-produced concoction. A let down. Service was friendly and overall, okay, but - overall visit was only so so. If you will decide to visit, don't forget to bring your own wine or beer. No recommendation on this one.

Nicely located in the old port, Steak Frites is a place where you get a mid-range steak for a mid-range price with unlimited fries. I got the table d'hôte for 50$, which included a salad, the main, and a dessert. I was pretty happy with everything! Service took a little longer, granted we were a large group of people. Big plus: it's a BYOW!

We gave the the restaurant a 3/5. The service was attentive and prompt. The food was as expected average. That said, we did not order steak. We had an calamari and shrimp appetizer which were fresh and crispy with delicious mayo as an accompaniment. The tartares were pretty average. We asked for spicy but the tuna one was over salted and the salmon was not more flavourful. However, for a BYOB this definitely worth it. Better BYOB in the city. The fries are delicious!!! Too bad they don't have a mayo selection to chose for dipping sauces...

We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

We ordered a variety of things (including things we wouldn't usually order to try and enjoy the full experience). We had a special that they were having that night similar to a charcuterie board, croquettes, hangar steak, lobster spaghetti, fries, bread and pickle, and a scallop soup type dish (I forget what it was called and honestly it was my absolute favorite most unique dish). For $89 per 6oz serving, I expect the meat will be cooked perfectly and of top-notch quality. The bread served with escargot is hard and chewy; scallop soup is lumpy and lukewarm; the double down foie gras is just two pieces of hard bread which barely has any foie gras; duck breast sliced into 6 thin pieces serves with breakfast sausage; the meat is cold, covered by a gluey sauce; the presentation is disastrous. Asparagus is cold, and the cheese sauce on top is cold too. Maybe it's supposed to be cold? But it is weird to serve as a side of a meat course.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

The menu is limited, but I appreciate the focus. They know what they do well and aren't afraid of perfecting it. We ordered the fraisier cocktail (vodka with aperol and strawberry sorbet on top) and the Mexican mojito (got a kick in the bottom of your throat spicy). Both really good and didn't skimp on the alcohol. I was very giddy by the time they brought the foie gras nigiri. This is why I wanted to eat here and am so glad they keep it on the menu! One order comes with 4 spoon servings, by the way. Add the soy ginger sauce because it cuts the fattiness just right. Oh là là! Decadent, smooth and buttery. Why don't more places serve foie gras like this? Genius! We got the pork chop, paparadelle pork ragu and a side of the salt and maple sugar fries. All were good, but the foie gras still had them beat. The fries had nice flavor, but we were really disappointed that we got the tail end of the fry basket. The bottom and middle of our order was all the broken bits. I felt a bit deceived. We got the pudding chomeur that people said was a classic dessert with a scoop of ice cream. It honestly was too sickly sweet. It's basically cake doused in a pool of maple sugar. So, if you love sweet sweet desserts, then the pudding is for you.
