Food was delicious. We had a private booth for a romantic night out. We expected privacy. Instead every 5 minutes, one of 3 servers, they were coming in to check on things. As soon as we would set a plate off to the side, there they were again. They were actually watching for us to set out forks down. Dinner plates weren't off the table for more than 2 minutes and there they were again wanting a desert order. I had to ask for time and privacy. Had the most lovely, romantic dinner with my boyfriend here tonight. We sat outside under the pavilion/tent. The atmosphere was lovely. It was a cooler night and our waitress put the space heater on for us which kept us nice and toasty the entire meal. My boyfriend got the swordfish special and I got the filet with goat cheese special. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and I can 100% say this was by far the best filet I've ever had. Great drinks too, I had the apple cider sangria which was soooooo yummy. We ended the night off with the flourless chocolate dessert, OMG so so amazing. Thought this was going to be a good place because of the reviews but apparently locals have become accustomed to thinking places like this are good but we were highly disappointed. Started off with claims that were extremely fishy & disgusting. I had gotten the bolognese & was nothing more then jar pasta sauce over pasta, weird thing was the sauce was clearly 2 different sauces, one was darker had some meat, the second was really light no meat and clearly poured over the 1st sauce. My bf had the filet mignon & he didn't like it at all, definitely wasn't worth the price. read more

I know most of the time we all want a good meal, but let's face it, atmosphere can make or break an experience. Grico's is truly unique because you can reserve a private booth in which you can enjoy your dinner. This is one of our go to spots for a night out with friends. You feel like you are the only party in the restaurant! The dinners are delicious and the martini list is awesome. There are also usually really good martinis on special for the evening. Parking can be tricky in the back of the building, but it's well worth it. Be sure to reserve your private booth! read more

First time at this restaurant. We fully enjoyed everything. The stuffed mushrooms and clams casino were excellent. Felt like I was in little Italy in NY. We had veal dishes that were superb. A nice wine selection with a wait staff that knew everything about the menu and specials. It was our first visit of many more in the future. If your in the area stop in and enjoy a fabulous dinner. Just a quick update here. Grico's is back in business. The food is as good as ever. We ate here twice during the opening week. My old favorites: stuffed mushrooms, shrimp savoi, and seafood fra diavolo were just as good as I remember them and the new menu items are excellent as well. read more

Absolutely amazing! Came here for my anniversary on the recommendation of a regular here. I made a reservation about 2 weeks in advance for one of the private tables. It was so crowded when we walked in but we were greeted right away and whisked away to our private table. All levels of service exceeded any expectations we had. All of our servers were professional, knowledgeable, and and personable. The martini menu was creative and delicious, apps were big enough to share, the entrees and dessert were all A+. I can't recommend this place enough. Classy and refined, this is one of the best meals we ever had, and we cannot wait for our next sate here! Truly disappointed. My wife and I reserved a private booth, and were seated in a timely manner, but without menus. We received water and a fresh roll while waiting to be greeted by our server. 20 minutes later, still menuless and and no server to accommodate us, we left. The two of us eat out to have a delicious dinner of course. Though, if the service is terrible the meal is ruined. At Grico's I would expect nothing but excellent food and service. On short notice after an area dedication ceremony, this old favorite (more than 50 years ago), not only handled our party of 9, but everyone raved about the quality of the food. We just got back from the Farm to Table night. Overall the food was okay... more on that in a min... but one thing that was very annoying was that they add in 20% gratuity to the check, automatically at the end, and they don't let you know how much it is. We hate this practice as we feel it's deceptive and NOT the responsibility of the restaurant to tell it's patrons how much to tip for service. If they feel they need more money to cover the cost of the dinner, then they should just charge more. Period. As for the food, the package deal we got was the Farm to Table dinner. Comes with a drink. An appetizer, salad, main course, and desert. This night was basically a fried chicken dinner for $28+ 20% automatic gratuity. The overall experience and how the food was presented was very nice... BUT... basically all the courses were very average. The appetizer was a butter milk biscuit with jalepeno butter. Nice presentation, but the biscuit was small, hard, and cold. Not what you'd expect. This was followed by Smoked sausage gumbo. Very small plate of the gumbo (3oz) and the sausage was a little dry. Was ok. The next thing out was fried green tomato's with crab salad. Again, very small... one slice of tomato, a leaf of lettuce and a couple small clumps of crab. Not very tasty at all. Then the main course. The temperature of the food was great. Hot and fresh. The chicken was a 1/2 a chicken, so plenty of that. The corn puddling was bland and very small amount and the mashed potato and gravy was bland and small too. Desert, was a micro sized red velvet cake and a mini root beer float. Nice looking, but not very special. Overall, they know how to "dress up a pig" at Grico's. They took very average food (fried chicken) and made it sound and look fancy. On the plus side, the service was good. Awesome atmosphere and the wine list was great. Many positive things, but watch out for the Auto-tip. As for the food, we'll have to try it again... maybe it was an off night? But, we'll avoid any dish with the Auto 20% gratuity - my partner works at a law firm and is looking into the legality of this practice in PA... we've seen it other places... and feel this practice it deceptive. read more

Last night my husband and I went to Grico's to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. We had reservations for a private booth. We arrived early and were told our table wasn't ready, so we sat at the bar and waited. After over one hour of sitting there, and after witnessing two groups of people walk in and be seated in private booths, I inquired about why we hadn't been seated in our booth and reminded them that we had reservations for a time that was well over an hour ago. The response we got was, "Oh are you ready to sit at your table?" Come on. Seriously?! Of course we wanted to sit and eat! That's why we were there. They were not apologetic and the evening was ruined because of the way we were treated by the staff. We've gone there dozens of times before and we've enjoyed it each time. Sadly, I think last night's experience has turned us away from Grico's for good. read more

Gricos has been my go to place for fine dining for four decades and the place had never let me down! This dining experience on Valentine's Day with the venue being under new ownership was different! The atmosphere was well decorated for the occasion, however the my medium well (pink) strip steak was not close to the quality of my former dining experiences. My husband and friends (3) took me to Grico's for my birthday on October 18th; it was amazing and I had a wonderful time. To top it off, I met a woman earlier that day and told her that I was going to Grico's for my birthday and she used to go to the restaurant all the time and told me that it was a great place to eat and the atmosphere was good as well. Turkey was great and veggies, especially the Brussels sprouts, root veggies, green beans, oyster stuffing were incredible. My husband and I always like to try local restaurants, and we sometimes get burned, we got burned at Grico's. People in this area don't know what good food tastes like, so if they treat you special, they think the food must be good. It's not! We were there on a Thursday, no reservation, so they stuck us in the back in a private booth (not one of the nice ones), I felt like we were being punished for not being a regular and not having a reservation. We were the only people in that area of the restaurant. The bread was two knotted rolls, not even warmed and some store bought bread sticks (I always say I can predict how I will like the meal based on the bread). The salad was wilted. The shrimp scampi was doused in butter and had no taste, My husband ordered the veal special, it was stringy and covered with a brown gravy. His risotto was tasteless. After going to Gricos for over 30 years decided not to ever go back. Going to New Year's Eve dinner last night was such a bad , rude experience. Reservations at 7:00 for corner table in bar which was confirmed. When we got there the "man" with the reservations said we couldn't have that table because it was booked 3 months ago even though we said it was confirmed then told us a 5 min wait until our table was free. Big mistake after 40 minutes still not seated even though there were free tables. Ladies next to us had a 6:30 reservation and had been told the same thing as us. We questioned the "man " with the list and was told those tables were reserved for 8:30!!! But they wouldn't give us or the ladies those tables because someone was coming at 8:30. Are they crazy! Either one of us would have been finished by 8:30 instead they let it empty and were rude to us even though we had reservations and were waiting over 45 minutes the ladies were waiting 75 minutes!! Unexceptionable! Rob the new owner came in and was explained to what was happening. Obviously he only wants to be an owner in name only. Ignored the situation and left. The "man "with the list was explained to let us have the tables and let the 8:30 people maybe wait 15 minutes but he obviously has not been trained to book or seat people or even how to speak to such loyal customers. And the Manager was no help just said one round of drinks. Big deal we were hungry and didn't want another drink at the bar we were driving. Sorry to say even the decorations were missing not like when Pat G was the owner. 6 balloons on the one wall !! Ridiculous for New Year's Eve No effort. No training no finesse. Not returning. We tried several of their dishes, some of which were very good, while others were o.k. at best. Their crab-stuffed mushroom caps are excellent. The schrimp in the shrimp scampi was over-cooked and a bit tough. The veal melanzone was so so. The side garden salad was a bit sparce, just a few leaves of various greens with not much dressing. The bread basket was two dinner rolls, which were not warmed, and a hand full of store bought breadsticks. We went on a Saturday night, and even at 9 p.m. the place was packed, which might be the reason the food could have been better. Perhaps on a slower weeknight the cook would have more time to devote to preparation. They are a bit on the pricey side, a very small glass of wine runs $4.50 a glass. I see they have a second location, so we might try eating there, but I won't revisit the Exeter location. I myself make a much better shrimp scampi and a much better tomato sauce, and my wife makes much better fried eggplant. So unless we really don't want to cook ourselves, I doubt we'll be going back here. read more

I've been frequenting Grico's for the past 6 years and have attended many events (showers, rehearsals, dinners, etc) here as well. I have always had a good experience/food until this past Saturday evening. The service was lacking as our waitress was not very "present", no offers for drink refills, no butter for roll, etc., but that would have been okay if the food was as expected. However, we both ordered from the seasonal menu (the scallops and the fish), and we ended up waiting well over an hour before it was even acknowledged that our food was on its way. Everyone else in the room was also waiting for their food. We were not offered any additional bread/drinks while waiting. When the food did come out, the presentation was terrible: it looked as if the fish was thrown on the plate and the scallops were atop noodles that looked dry and caked over as if they had been sitting for a long time. The scallops were visibly raw inside. I mentioned that I did not believe the scallops were properly cooked to the waitress, and she offered to have the kitchen make me something else. I ordered the pork instead. I never send back food, but the scallops were not edible. We also overheard the table next to us complain that their food was cold and unsavory. When the pork came out, the presentation was lacking again, but it tasted fine, not great. The waitress offered me one free drink as a courtesy for the meal being inedible. I would have appreciated more communication between the staff and patrons regarding what was going on in the kitchen and why the food was taking so long and was not up to their normal standards. However, for the caliber of cuisine/experience one would expect at that price point, we will not be returning. Another local restaurant that has lost its allure. read more

Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic! Walked in without reservations at 730PM on a Saturday and we were prepared to wait at least the standard 30 minutes you would expect but were pleasantly surprised to be seated almost immediately. Both the hostess and the server was very pleasant, friendly and attentive. And the food...it was excellent! Rolls were crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, salad was great, and the crabcake was said to be "without filler"...and it absolutely was just crabmeat and seasoning held together by some magical force. I went for the single and wish I had ordered two, but luckily I saved room for dessert because the peanut butter pie was amazing. Sangria was also very tasty. My husband had the steak and thought it was great as well. We definitely will be back! read more

You won't find a better, cleaner, classier restaurant in this valley. Private booths with draw-curtain allows privacy for those special occasions. Grico's has a unique atmosphere with its private booths, and I wish I could find a restaurant like thiers in other cities. However, our first experience since they reopened from the fire wasn't so good. The food was incredible, but the atmosphere wasn't (which is the reason why we go to Grico's). I think the staff were somewhat busy and overwhelmed and messed up a little, but what made the experience much less than stellar was how loud it was in the private booth area. I know that they can't always control their customers' behavior, but they should have cut off the completely annoying and loud middle aged woman in the booth behind us, after the first two drinks. She ruined the atmosphere for everyone around us, and we were glad to leave ASAP, so we didn't have to hear her anymore. Listen to the lyrics from "Big Shot" by Billy Joel, that's what we had to hear tonight. In all honesty, I am not one to be snobby or very reserved, but in this private atmosphere, it may be a good idea to put up a sign asking the customers to refrain from loud conversation in the area. We went to Grico's for a nice private, peaceful expreience, but we did not receive that tonight. read more
