My dad was celebrating his retirement and wanted to have the family together for dinner. He reserved a private room that seats 8. This was around the holidays. They had the table set beautifully with their holiday menus already waiting for us. A few of us tried their holiday cocktails and some stayed with the regular menu but both were delicious. We had a wide range of food choices across the table and everyone had great things to say. When time for dessert, we all opted for something different. The crème brûlée was out of this world along with their espresso martini. It was everything my dad had hoped for!

Quality food and quality service. Best seafood in the valley!! So glad I went. They have little rooms with curtains - that was adorable. The hot apple crisp was also delish. Can't wait to go back. Wine was reasonably priced but the list of glasses wasn't impressive

Little Neck Clams in a wine and garlic sauce. Absolutely fantastic.

I've been coming to Grico's for years but this was the first time I've been here since about 2008 because I moved up the mountain. It's just as good now as it was years ago. Our appetizer was Little Neck Clams in a wine and garlic sauce. It was insanely good. If the brought me a giant pot of these clams, I would have just eaten those all night. Our salads were a nice Garden Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette which was tasty. For dinner I ordered a special which was Walleye with Capers. My first thought when our server told us the specials was, "what fish market sold them walleye?" I never see that on any menu in this area. Did someone who works there go fishing that morning? Regardless of where they got the fish, it was out of this world. Perfectly cooked and the capers amped up the dish with a little bit of tang. My wife ordered Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp which was delicious. I mean seriously, who doesn't want one shellfish stuffed with another shellfish? Fantastic dish. We are definitely looking forward to going here again.

Julian and the bar manager I believe his name was Kieth (sorry if Im wrong) were so attentive prompt and respectful. It was truly a lovely experience when we received a few appetizers compliments of the chef. We fell in love and I booked a table for My upcoming birthday!

The bad: this point has to do with their automatic gratuity system. Nothing to do with the kitchen. I am not sure if anything over a party of 4 gets automatic tip, but it falls apart here: the bottle list. We ordered a bottle of wine. $115. Total cost with tax and gratuity is $143. That's $27 over the cost of the actual bottle. Or a 20% tip roughly. And they probably calculated the tip post tax. Had I known that I would not have ordered a bottle. Now for the arguments of "serving a bottle involves some labor that should be compensated ". Let's do the math. The cheapest bottle they have is 60$. If you were to charge gratuity and tax on this bottle it would be $76.20. That's only $16.30. Not a bad price right? Given the service of opening said bottle and pouring it. BUT... The most expensive bottle they have is $360. If you order that bottle, you will be paying an extra $97.20. That is a huge markup. And if I'm missing something, tell me how the service on a $360 bottle is different than the service on a $60 bottle. Does the server come out with a little song and dance for the more expensive one justifying an additional $97.20 on a $360 bottle of wine? Do you realize how absurd this is? My guess is that the owners don't realize the point I'm trying to make- to give them the benefit of the doubt. That is the best situation. The worst is if the owners know this, and are fleecing the customers. I'd like to believe this is not the case. To sum up: go for the food. Order wine by the glass. DO NOT order bottle service. You will be in for a nasty surprise. The average markup for A bottle of wine is 3x the amount in a restaurant. Retail my bottle was $45. I know this. And if it's $115, that's fair. After all the restaurant makes more money on liquor sales than food. I'm okay with that. But what I find reprehensible is that they charge a service fee on top of that. Which by my calculation is 20%. Therein lies the fallacy. The same 20% charge is applied to the cheapest to most expensive bottle. The effort made to open and serve said bottles are exactly the same! They don't disclose this practice to the patrons. I've run this by multiple people I know. They all say this practice is shady as hell. Enough said, go for the food. Don't get a bottle of wine.

Unfortunately, none of the experiences were good. Each time, the food was disappointing. We always ordered takeout, and the noodles were consistently stuck together and kind of runny. The gnocchi was especially unpleasant, the sauce tasted sour and off, which completely ruined it. Comparing the sizes of the gnocchi as well, you can go somewhere else and get bigger pieces for the same price or less. While the pricing is pretty standard for similar places, the quality just doesn't justify it. The food simply doesn't taste good. I don't plan on coming back again, especially if I am looking for a genuinely good pasta dish.

With that said this still should've been a five star experience if not for a couple tiny hiccups. First off, I started off drinking at their bar and bottle shop across the parking lot. In fact, I was going to get a pizza over there, except I wanted to be all healthy and get a salad as well, which was not offered on the limited, pizza and snacks only menu available at the bottle shop. I closed my tab and walked across the parking lot only find a very interesting set up of a to go area very much separated from a sit down only restaurant. Quickly figured out I need to be in the to go area, where I was able to get a draft beer while I waited for my pizza and salad to go. Luckily I asked for a min to settle my tab as I wanted a can to take with me, at which point I found out about the cash only aspect. Last part of slight disappointment resided in the fact that they let me sit there with an empty glass without telling me my pizza was ready, until I finally went to the counter and they asked if I was ready to go. Uh yeah I was actually. By the time I go back to the hotel 14 minutes away, the pizza had gotten cold and required reheating. Fortunately, it was good enough that even with the reheat, revealed itself to be one hell of a pizza. Subtract another fraction of a point for not putting any plastic silverware for my salad. By the way, salad was fine, but pizza slaps.
