A 3/5, just ok really about sums this place up. We were visiting the area for a wedding and were looking for a place to have dinner our final night in town. We considered something downtown but wanted to enjoy the riverfront one more time (we had dined at Anthony's prior). The space itself is has such potential. It actually is beautiful inside but needs a deep clean. I get it, those ceilings are high, those cobwebs are hard to reach, but they were bad. That should be taken care of. We sat inside in a window booth, the dust in the windowsill was disgusting. Our waitress was, odd? Completely fine. Just consistently strange interactions. I asked about a dish, rather than speak to me she assumed it was for someone else, which was just weird. The food, was meh. I had the driest chicken sandwich of my life - one other guest in our party also ordered the same dish and same thing. It was nearly inedible. Had it not been our last night and we weren't just overall exhausted we would've commented. Overall, the food was Meh but the cleanliness of the restaurant is what really turned us off. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant and I am so grateful to them for the abundance of gluten-free options. Usually I would just order the same thing every time. But with so many options to choose from today I ordered the ribs. They come with fries and coleslaw. The fries are great but the dressing is so great on the coleslaw I could have lived without fries and had twice as much coleslaw. It was the yummiest coleslaw dressing I have ever had. And the ribs were tender but not overcooked. They were delicious!! I love the seared tuna salad I usually get and I will have to go get it soon. But today I wanted something different. We came To eat here because a concert was going on across the river and thought it would be nice to Listen to the music. Well we got to listen to music as well as a handful of others who has the same idea. Drinks were okay not bad of prices. Their seasonal On tap was already tapped out. Food, now I wished I read other yelpers comments before coming. I know the businesses may not read Yelp but if they do, you would think they would improve on their food. Fried artichoke were bland and the aioli was almost straight up mayo. Had to get a side of ranch. DH had the mixed meat burger. He said it was okay. I had the tri-tip and was disappointed. Four slices and not seasoned and not sure how the kitchen cooked it. Throw some garlic butter, if that is what you call it for seasoning. The food was good. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful with impressive architecture, soaring windows and ceilings and beautiful artwork. But clearly the highlight was the service. The bartender, Courtney, was also the server for our half of the rather large restaurant and did an absolute amazing job at keeping everyone happy and doing it with a heartwarming smile on her face. My wife and I frankly could not see how she did it. She made our dinner an absolutely stellar experience and we will be returning again soon read more

This is an average review from both visits here. The most recent time was great. We ordered the Steak Frites, 2 Lemon Pepper Salmon plates, and a salad on the side. The salmon was actually one of the best I've had in a very long time. It was the perfect texture and I couldn't imagine it any better. The sides were also delicious. And I was surprised how good everything was, even though it was ordered to go. Even the fries had the right texture. I'm impressed with this experience. It's been said that what is old is new again, Greg's is a gold standard here in Bend's Old Mil district. Nothing fancy other than the location but just consistent with a good menu and fair prices. YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes highly recommended. We've visited many times since they opened just before the crash in 08, it was amazing they hung in there. Now they have made their way through the pandemic thus far, and have done the best job they could. Labor has been an issue for all businesses in Bend and Greg's was no exception yet some visitors and reviewers chose to criticize rather than understand. We've had issues everywhere but we get it, just be kind and things will all work out. We've known past and the current manager and never has there been an excuse for anything, just a lot of good people and hard work all trying to do their best for their visitors. Nothing is perfect but if there is an issue, or attitude, they resolve it. Location: Excellent in Old Mill, parking can be an issue so if you make a reservation plan for a short walk. Seating area: very nice, large, no huge, and very open with amazing views of the Deschutes river and mountains. In warmer weather excellent outdoor seating. The bar area seating is great but you still need to check in at the reception desk. Menu: What is not to like, it is American cuisine with salads and appetizers. Bar has the same menu as formal seating area. Dress is casual. Food Prep: Always well done, they do take a lot of care for presentation. Food: Flavors are correct, not over seasoned to mask problems. They have excellent food here, but the labor issue has caused issues that get resolved quickly. Management is excellent here. Value: It is very good for Bend, nothing is over priced even during tough times when other establishments have passes on excessively higher expenses, we have not seen it at Gregs's. read more

This was a pretty good experience overall. The only hiccup was that we made a reservation and still had to wait a little over 10 minutes for our table and there wasnt a lot of room to stand or sit. We were not offered the opportunity to sit in the bar even though we heard other people after us being given that choice. AFTER that, the experience was fine. The Yellowstone burger recommended by our waiter was quite tasty. The service was very friendly. A bit overpriced but we found most places in the Mill area to be a bit exploitative of tourists. Popped in here evening of July 4th for a cocktail and we had a great time. Our server was friendly and efficient. Shared the sliders which were really good. The location is great as you can watch people float down the river and the space itself is very open with lots of windows, large bar area and great tables outside. Great server! Ashley, I believe was her name, she was just recently back after being gone for awhile. She was fantastic. Unfortunately, the kitchen failed. We waited for over an hour after ordering, the food arrived...cold, inedible. Presentation looked good, they offered to remake, but we didn't have another hour to kill. Glad we went, as we had reservations a few nights later to take family out for a very special occasion. Yes, we canceled that reservation and found a new place for our next dinner out in Bend. Not likely to return. I will also add, they took the meals off our tickets. We decided to splurge and go to Greg's Grill. I ordered the steak sandwich, my wife ordered the Chicken salad sandwich, both sandwiches were very good. The steak sandwich was enormous, I could only eat half, my wife the same. Service was excellent,, young pretty server, Charlie, was very attentive, she checked on us a few times as we enjoyed our meals. As we sat waiting for our food we had time to look around, the chandelier lights up high were dirty, spiderwebs, just looked bad. There used to be beautiful lights hanging down from the chandeliers which made the restaurant look great, hope they put back the lights but clean the other lights first. read more

We go to Greg's Grill whenever we pass through Bend. This time, I was a bit uneasy due to several very negative reviews. But it is still the same, nice setting and building, good service and good food. We went there first because of their gluten free clam chowder, and it is still quite good. I had the Sunset Salmon salad, and it was good, with a good size piece of grilled salmon. Only negative was the noise level, due to a overly loud trivia announcer in the bar. read more

A beautiful location right on the river. Unfortunately that is the best thing we can say about our visit. We asked what was the soup of the day and were told "The chef didn't make any." We ordered fried artichokes and clam chowder and asked for bread. We were told, "we dont have any bread, just soup crackers". When he brought our food, we though he must have misunderstood us, so we asked again for some bread and butter. Again he said no bread was available. I said, you serve sandwiches, so you must have some bread. He said they needed to save all the bread for the sandwiches. I said fine, sell me a steak sandwich, throw away the steak and bring me the bread. He finally said, ok I'll do what I can. We sat there for 10 minutes while the food got cold waiting for napkins and silverware so we could eat. When he finally came back and we asked for silverware and napkins, it was clear that it had not occurred to him that we might need that. We had to ask twice for water. By this time our appetite was pretty much gone. Maybe that's why the food tasted very mediocre. read more

I rarely give a two star review but Greg's Grill earned this one. Let's start with a reservation phone call. It normally takes us less than 30 minutes to drive to the restaurant. So, we made a reservation for 30 minutes after our phone call. US-97 was a parking lot. So, we called and asked that the reservation be pushed out 15 minute, no problem. I walked in almost exactly on time and asked about our reservation. The response: Oh, let me see if there is a table available. Several minutes later we were shown to a table with, if it had not been dark, a great view. Our waiter helped us with our drink order and Baked Brie appetizer. We quickly devoured the Baked Brie. We ordered Lemon Caper Salmon, Tempura Fish and Chip, and BBQ Pork Ribs. Awhile later, a woman brought a plate of food to our table and asked who ordered the chicken. We told her that no one at this table ordered chicken. She seemed confused and left. Shortly our waiter returned and asked if we had ordered ribs or chicken. We told him ribs. He apologized and said that he had made a mistake and would put the rib ordered in ASAP. He returned with the Salmon and the Fish and Chips and told us that the ribs would be ready soon. We started in on the two dishes and as we were almost finished with the Salmon, our waiter returned to tell us that the ribs would be up soon; but, there were two orders ahead of the ribs. We finished the Salmon and Fish and Chips were nearly finished when the ribs arrived. We ordered a chocolate cookie for dessert. Our waiter returned to tell us that they were out of cookie. We ordered chocolate cake. The bar did an excellent job with the drinks. Baked Brie was delicious. Salmon was well prepared. Tempura Fish (Cod) was average. The coating was closer to a beer batter than tempura batter. Chips were average and passed the Good-When-Cold Test. My daughter tells me that I should not compare Oregon BBQ Pork Ribs with Austin TX Ribs. To me the BBQ Pork Ribs were a major disappointment. I call this type of rib a grocery store rib. You can buy them right next to the rotisserie chicken at the local supermarket. Chocolate cake almost made up for the fish and chips. You would think that with an order screw up like we experienced there would be a mechanism that put a priority on the replacement menu item rather than waiting in the queue. Second, I would expect that a waiter would know if they were out of a menu item. Third, after a major screw up, I would expect some compensation on the bill; but, not this time. We might go back to Greg's Grill; but, not soon. read more

I hate to pile on this place, but I just can't let the experience with the food go. The good was the facility is clean and open. Too bad the fountain doesn't work. So service was ok, but oddly slow. And no updates after waiting for an extended period for our food. Which when it arrived consisted of a kid's burger that tasted odd, soup and a salad that can be best described as something to avoid. It was supposed to have "peanut Sauce" which resembled wall paper paste. And was oddly flavor less. We passed along the feedback, but got little in return. Also waiting as long as did you would imagine the chicken was the delay. Grilling it to order. Well it turns out it was a precooked breast with fake grill marks. So maybe they do other things well just avoid the salad, peanut sauce, the artichokes and kid burgers. Get a beer and enjoy the view, just don't expect much more. read more

Get a patio table with a River view but make sure the table umbrella is in the right location as the sun can get really hot and bright. I had their ribeye steak and it was fantastic. Do not order the tri tip! Too much garlic (literally scooped mince garlic, my breath is gonna smell for weeks). No seasoning... also totally overcooked and inedible. Do not order Parmesan fries! We waited over two hours for our food and walked by other tables who experienced the same. The waiter proceeded to bad mouth my family and I to another server. Really mean.
