As soon as I got inside the owner and his wife greeted me at the door and gave me a thorough tour of their grill options. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so he gave me a crash course in grilling and all the things I may or may not need for my new outdoor kitchen. I did lots of nodding as if I knew what he was talking about, but let's be real - I'm no chef and I've used my current grill sparingly so it sounded like another language to me. He made zero attempts to upsell me despite my obvious lack of knowledge, and actually suggested cheaper versions of some of the products they had to offer. I was greeted at the front by a friendly lady who guided me to what I was looking for. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.

Stay far away from this man. This man is the worst in service and communication. Fist he can't…read moremake the days he mentioned because his trucks were in the shop. That should have our first clue this man can't run a business. Our need is different and my wife fully expressed to him what was needed and sent pictures. He was supposed to be at our home. The unprofessional horrible business owner finally leaves my property driving like an idiot in a gas truck. His partner left later and apologized. I asked why since it made things convenient. She said the manager got mad at her when she did it previously. They wanted to know what size tank I was filling first. I pointed at 15lb tanks on the wall behind her to let her know of size. She asked the manager, Robert, but he said they need to fill first. The change in policy is no longer convenient. If I have to go into the store multiple times to just have a propane tank refilled, then I will take my business elsewhere. Everywhere else you pay first and they refill and then you are on your way. Lowe's, Academy and other sites are now more convenient. I would go by to help out the local hardware but now I will just go to the big chain stores since this policy has changed.
