As soon as I got inside the owner and his wife greeted me at the door and gave me a thorough tour of their grill options. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so he gave me a crash course in grilling and all the things I may or may not need for my new outdoor kitchen. I did lots of nodding as if I knew what he was talking about, but let's be real - I'm no chef and I've used my current grill sparingly so it sounded like another language to me. He made zero attempts to upsell me despite my obvious lack of knowledge, and actually suggested cheaper versions of some of the products they had to offer. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.
