No meat included. Just eggs, beans, rice, and the chilaquiles themselves. No sour cream, no diced onions, and barely any cheese. Not worth $16 for a few chips smothered in substandard canned enchilada sauce (tasted like it was canned sauce). 3 stars because that's average for the area, so I can't blame them for that. May this review teach us all the most valuable lesson - experiences aren't the same for everyone and some places need to be tried for yourself. A friend told me they didn't like this place, with no particular reasoning, and so I never made an effort to try it. This past weekend, a family member chose this restaurant for us all to have lunch. I'm so glad she did, I had the best chile verde breakfast plate (and got to try my brothers chile verde burrito). Everything was delicious, the restaurant staff was very friendly as well. They went out of their way to accommodate our large party (plus a baby stroller) and give us more space. You get a lot of bang for your buck here while also supporting a nice restaurant. If you're a Whittier local, then you know this place is a must. I've never been disappointed. Maybe once, but that isn't enough to keep me from coming to this restaurant. The restaurant has a lot of seating and it's spacious. The coffee is so good! At least it was the last time I was here. My favorite plate to order are the chilaquiles. The chorizo breakfast burrito is my Husband's favorite. I finally tried their menudo and it was actually good. We order from here at least once a month. Had a very good tasting enchiladas plate. Super happy with my meal I enjoyed all of it. I normally wouldn't finish the entire plate but it's safe to say today it happened lol. Came in on a mid morning Wednesday and was no disappointed. We were seated right away and given water. We got our food pretty quickly and everything tasted good. I got the pork omelette in green sauce with hash brown instead and the pork was so tender and juicy and delicious that I devoured the whole meal in a matter of minutes. My wife's chili rellenno and chicken enchilada was also spot on. Massive and cheesy, the chili was fulfilling and not skimpy. It's a no frills, simple neighborhood spot that's open for all the meals, has a wide variety things you can order, and is as unpretentious as it gets. It doesn't have food that's going to rock your world nor is it particularly memorable, but you'll end up coming here because it's right in the downtown area and because you just want a fast meal at some good prices. That's exactly what my friends and I wanted after driving in from LA. I had tacos and a cheese enchilada and people got variations of sandwiches, burgers, or some of the Mexican specials of the day. The tacos were bigger than I expected, and I like that they brought me generous servings of onion and cilantro to put on top of it. The enchilada sauce was tasty. There is sanitizer at every table and they do clean up right after the prior party sits. This is a plus as far as we are concerned. Many businesses have become very lax again.
