Lukewarm menudo and chili Verde with over easy eggs (not)
Mike Y.

POV: you go to a spot bc Mexipapa said it was fire and now I'm hitting unsubscribe Okay so I pulled up for menudo. And ifykyk -- I can clock good menudo just by _vibes_. This one looked promising. Visually, we were winning. Then I take a bite and it's... lukewarm. Bestie??? Menudo is not supposed to be room temp. Asked the waitress to reheat it and she was sweet about it. Came back actually hot like it should've been from jump. Flavor did a whole 180 after that, so W. Then the bolillo saga. I asked "y'all got bolillos?" She's like "yes!" I'm like slay. What shows up? French bread that went 12 rounds with a plancha, buttered and toasted. I'm like "ma'am what is this" I asked for a non-grilled one and she hits me with "we don't have those" LMAO the whiplash. Just give me corn tortillas atp. Tortillas came, crisis averted. Wife got chile verde with eggs over easy. Eggs came out medium but we don't gatekeep, it's fine. Chile verde was tomatillo based -- not my fave but edible. Beans actually slapped. Didn't try the rice but it was giving _decent_. Bill was $43. And they still charged me for the bread I sent back??? It's giving audacity. But that's why we have Yelp. Talked to the guy next to us eating chilaquiles. They looked bussin and he said that's all he pulls up for. I told him I sent the menudo back bc it wasn't hot. He's like "I hate lukewarm menudo lol." SAME BESTIE SAME. Final verdict: not returning. Mexipapa you fumbled this one. That review was def sponsored bc no way Rating: 4/10* Menudo needed a reheat, bolillo was catfishing, and I paid for bread I didn't eat. The chilaquiles guy might be onto something tho.

Straight up 5 star experience. Visit Greenleaf cafe and you will not be disappointed. Here's all the details. It does get crowded, especially Sunday mornings after misa (mass). Lots of local families and groups. Staff is very organized and efficient. The owners are not keeping a small staff during these peaks they have plenty of hands on - everyone is busy. But the friendly level doesn't suffer. Busy yes but friendly absolutely. The menudo. The reason we went in the first place. It lived up to the reputation that preceded it. Lots of flavor and their salsa I added. Aye Que Brava ! We will be back and I do hope they are consistent and this wasn't a rare occurrence. Thanks Greenleaf Cafe.

Hey so this place is really good and the food has lots of flavor. But how come you only put three peaces of lettuce on my food? Is it because it was a to-go order? :(

Pork Chili Colorado $16.50 - Just ok. Good beans
Rick L.

I should have read my review from 8 years ago. Bad, bad... Caldo soup had good flavor but lots of fatty meat. Chili Colorado (pork) was ok, beans good. Some reviews say pricing is cheap but most breakfast seems to be $16+. Service was bad from table service, to trying to on the bill, to being ignored when trying to pay at the counter. Lady walked away then didn't look at me. Hate to say it but if you don't speak Spanish you're ignored. My wife is Mexican and speaks Spanish. The tables next to us with people all speaking Spanish had great service all afternoon. F this place, I'm done here.

Food was served hot and delicious. Lots of flavor. Thank you to the cooks in the kitchen for caring and putting their skills to work for us. Nice decor clean establishment. The staff is welcoming and friendly but please come and share your experience with all of us.

Mixed fajitas and carne asada/enchilada plate

Affordable, Great customer service, super attentive! Celia and Luz were super friendly! My mom tried the Horchata and it was amazing, free refills too! Fajitas were wonderful and the portions were definitely sharable. Nice causal environment for a dinner, will be coming back whenever I'm in the area 100%

One could describe this place as sh*tty delicious authentic Mexican food or authentic Mexican food, without having to wait in line or for food, I guess 4pm is the perfect time to come for any meal, especially watching that silver haired fox playing solitaire on his 'notebook' wearing massive earphones like I don't know what's going on in them ears. The ladies who work here are aunties I wish I had growing up serving me exactly what's on the menu. It's all a little greasy but nothing extra, nothing missing. The best part about the breakfast, besides being served all day, is like a smartie, they melt your butter in them freshly toasted bread. The quesadilla reminded me so much of my first quesadilla made by my old English tutor from El Salvador. Greenleaf though use a much better, larger tortilla. It's exactly what I want at 4pm and 12am. No other time in between. Love the homemade chips and yummy orange Tang! Everything I want in an orange soda without the soda. Edit: 2 days later: fecal consistency is not great if not lacking. For the vegetarians who ate here we're still fighting this constipation and tummy rumbles two days after that authentic Mexican food.

I have lived in Whittier for a long time & have never tried this spot. Went out for lunch today & tried it. Had the soup/salad/1/2 sandwich combo & it was so goooood!! Especially the fideo soup. I also had a michi & idk what's their mix is but it was one of the best michis I've had in a while. I can't remember the waitress name, but she was little older, but was superb! & so sweet.

The whole stem took most of seeds out.

The food came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. We ordered the chilaquiles and the machaca. The chilaquiles were definitely my favorite, while my husband really enjoyed the machaca. This was my…read more2nd time dining in for some breakfast; the first time didn't have anything worthy to review (the food was ok; chile verde), but today was....memorable. I'll cut to the chase: it was the food. I ordered the polish sausage with eggs and by god, this is in no way of an exaggeration I promise you, but the worst polish sausage I have ever tasted. It tasted like....nothing, not polish, not salt, not anything. It was warm water squirting out with meat that had no taste. The plate came with over easy eggs, sourdough bread, and hashies. The sides were fine, nothing great about them, just normal fixings that did no favors for the flavorless meat. Hey, maybe the other dishes are decent-good, but please for the love of god do NOT order the polish sausages. Trust me, I do realize this is a harsh review for simply just the sausages, but you'd be disappointed if you waited 20min for flavorless meat. Oh! They did forget my bread, I had to remind them, but that didn't bother me at all.

Stopped by Mobar Coffee and really enjoyed their creative drink menu…read more The banana matcha coffee was fun and unique, with a noticeable banana flavor that made it feel playful and different from the usual matcha drinks you see everywhere. The horchata latte was a standout -- smooth, comforting, and nicely balanced with just the right amount of cinnamon sweetness. I also tried the almond croissant, which was flaky and satisfying, making it a solid pastry to pair with the drinks. Overall, Mobar Coffee is a great spot if you're looking for inventive flavors and something a little outside the box. I'd definitely come back to try more of their specialty drinks.

I have been on a quest to try different coffee spots in my surrounding areas, but this spot may bring me to a halt (lol). I didn't realize this little spot was here until a few weeks ago that my husband and I stopped by the brewery (after many times) to watch a game and have a few drinks. That's when we noticed the coffee bar. Service was friendly and they do have a good selection to choose from. I stopped on a Friday morning for fuel (coffee) before running errands, and went with the strawberry horchata cold foam. I was pleasantly surprised. It was perfect and not overly sweet. I also got a pistachio crescent, warm, and was delicious. I stopped by the following morning, and went with the pumpkin spice chai latte, which was perfect! And pistachio crescent to share with my son, which he ended up taking, despite him not having a sweet tooth for baked goodies like I do. Highly recommend this little spot!!

LFTD recently made an announcement that they are being evicted by their landlord and will close…read moredown this brick-and-mortar location by the end of this year (December 29th, 2025). A week before the announcement was made, I came here to try their famous blue tortilla breakfast burrito. [Parking]: There's a free public parking structure located one block away from the coffee shop (6738 Comstock Ave, Whittier, CA 90601). [Atmosphere]: Super crowded on Sunday & I was not able to find a place to sit. I ultimately ordered my breakfast burrito to-go. They also have a section of cafe that sell vintage clothing. [Menu]: For the signature breakfast burrito, they actually have 6 options - classic breakfast burritos (bacon - $16.50), Prime Steak (grass-fed prime steak $20.50), the Ultimate Burrito (grass-fed prime steak + avocado + bacon), Chilaquiles ($15.50), Chorizo ($16.00), and Vegan ($16.00). They also sell their cold brew cafe de olla in giant plastic bags that look like IV drip bags at the refrigerated section. [Ordering]: Customers can order at the cashier counter or order via kiosk (they use Toast). I reviewed their breakfast burrito options at 12 PM and they ran out of classic breakfast burrito. I ended up with prime steak breakfast burrito instead. Unfortunately I waited 45 minutes before they had my order ready and I could tell other customers were not too patient with their orders as they kept walking up to the pick-up counter & checked the ordering status. *** Prime Steak Breakfast Burrito (grass fed prime steak, scrambled egg, Monterey Jack cheese, crema, pico de gallo, tri-colored peppers, hash browns - $20.50): Unlike other breakfast burrito I have had at other places, this breakfast burrito had blue tortilla. The portion was a bit smaller than I expected, but chewy steak + crispy hash browns + roasted peppers + red salsa = one delicious and s-tier tasting breakfast burrito. *** While LFTD serves one of the best 5-star worthy breakfast burritos I have ever had in LA + Orange County, I have to take off a star due to extremely long wait time on food order. Please do yourself a favor and place an online order at least 30 minutes ahead of time if you want to try their breakfast burritos ( https://www.toasttab.com/local/order/lift-6701-greenleaf-ave ).
