It's good place to visit. I had half ramen and half curry rice. Food is alright. There is not much choices, mainly ramen and curry rice. Probably would not visit again.

I love Green Tea Lounge's concept of serving Home Style Japanese food. Simple and delicious. I love the idea of able to customize my Soba Set ($9.80) the way I prefer from the salad dressing (sesame mayo), the protein (breaded pork), the dip (sweet miso sauce), the rice (multi-grain). It was quite filling and the pork just prepared perfectly: juicy and tender inside, crunchy and crispy outside. I think I going to order the Curry with Breaded Pork ($9.80)!! There is also some small bite (Natto for my Yelp friend?) or some sweet. As the name implies, they also serves pots of loose leaf tea and even Matcha Tea. Service is friendly and cheerful. The waitress has this cutest smile just like the girl next door... I usually go to Cafe Green Tea for a quick bowl of noodle but they closes early at 7 pm every night.. now I know where I can get some home style Japanese food for dinner!

Cheese curry and hot soba with a side addition of karaage
    Eric C.

We came here for dinner after deciding not to wait at Izakaya Ju and was found Green Tea Lounge to be an average japanese diner. I am not sure if I would return but it did the trick in that scenario. It has the tendency to be overlooked by many as it is in the corner of the plaza but inside you will find a spacious and cozy place while also oddly selling various household wares. They seemed to sell a lot of combos and that is a good thing if you like variety. A lot of diners were getting the curry so we ordered one as well with the cheese and it was very enjoyable. It arrived on a hot plate and nice and warm. The curry was mild and flavorful but unfortunately there's no proteins so you had to add one. We got the chicken karaage and it was pretty underwhelming devoid of crunch and juiciness so I'd avoid that. The set came with warm soba which was also decent but nothing special. We also ordered the bento and you had the freedom of choosing various sides and dressing. The pork cutlet was alright, wasn't particularly dry nor juicy. The miso dressing was good, and the rice was a very hearty blend. The cold soba was very good with the chilled miso dipping sauce. I really liked the addition of the japanese pickles and how comprehensive the meal was ending with ice cream. Service was fair, value was a bit pricier considering the amount and quality of food, which makes it hard to fully recommend this place.

Crepe cake with ice cream .

This is more like a self-serve food court with lots of space and very quiet environment. It is very nice to catch up some girls talk. We have only ordered the dessert here. Their in-house crepe cakes only cost around 6 dollars. It was cheaper than most places in toronto. Taste is okay not overly sweet but the layers are very thick. The fruits on the plate are frozen fruits -which I don't like . But what could you complain with $6 dollars crepe cake.

Curry cheese rice and soba combo
    Stephanie C.

My personal favourite when coming here is the curry cheese rice and soba combo. The mushroom really makes the soba because it's a burst of flavours! Some places hold back on the cheese to their dish but they really go all out to cover the entire top! From cheese lover to other cheese lovers out there, I would recommend this dish.

Came here for lunch. It wasn't busy so we were seated quickly. I had a ramen-takoyaki combo friend got an udon. We had the chicken karage to share. The ramen was a little salty, but the cha siu was pretty tender and good. The udon broth was good and I think overall had a better flavour than the ramen. The takoyaki was good as well. The karage was a little dry and tough to chew. It was well seasoned, but dry. Overall was a decent lunch, but nothing special.

Cold Soba Bentobox (Breaded Pork with Sweet Miso Sauce and substitute soba for udon)

This is my absolute favorite place to sit down and have a nice little bento. I got the Cold Soba Bentobox with Breaded Pork, Sweet Miso Sauce and substitute soba for udon. It is super filling and the atmosphere is nice and quant.

    Tempura udon $10.80
    Chris C.

Wanted to get a light lunch that tasted good at the same time and this place definately accomplished that. Cold soba $10.80 - comes with shrimp tempura and a rice wrapped in a thin layer of tofu I think. The noodles tasted nice when dipped in the sauce. The shrimp tempura was large and fresh. I especially liked the rice wrap. It had a hint of sweetness and tasted great. One of the healthiest meals I have had all week. No wonder the Japanese people live so long. Tempura udon $10.80 - came with the same shrimp tempura and rice wrap. Noodles a bit on the soft side but still had that chew which I like. After seeing all the pictures of the crepe I had to try one even though I am not a huge fan of crepes. Green tea crepe $5.80 with black seseame ice cream +$3. Comes with whipped cream and fresh fruits. There were probably a good 7-10 layers for the crepe and it this is probably the first crepe I have ever liked. It went well with the whipped cream and ice cream. Service was excellent and friendly.

    Chicken Rice with Omelette
    Veronica C.

Starving and went for a quick bite. Ordered a dish, chicken with rice wrapped with omelette. Ketchup is mixed with rice and chunks of chicken and hen it's wrapped with a thin layer of omelette. Then some ketchup sauce is put on top of the omelette rice. I find the rice is a bit soggy inside of the omelette. Somehow, the ketchup sauce is a bit sour to my taste. Well, that's probably what you can expect from a food court.

Our gyoza was drenched in oil
    Irene T.

Layout of the restaurant is awkward and makes no sense. One side is the restaurant, other side is their display/shop. Food: completely suck. We couldn't understand why they were so busy. Their gyoza was so oily and tasteless, their takoyaki ball was all filler and no squid with some nasty bright pink artificial ginger and their tonkatsu (pork) ramen was the most tasteless ramen we've had. There was three tiny pieces of pork with half an egg and two slices of artificial fish meat. Our meal ended up costing us $27. Definitely not worth it. Service: they only had one server working when all the tables were filled. We knew she was super busy so we just waited for her to approach us to order. Finally, another server came to help her. The food didn't take too long to arrive but we had to ask her for serving plates and spoons. Definitely would not come back.

Green tea mille cake with black sesame ice cream
    Teresa Y.

Prices are cheap here but the portions really lack in size to make anyone full. Tried their udon and curry on rice dish. Taste was sub par. Nothing special. Would eat at another restaurant in J Town if you can. Also see the photo of the green tea mille crepe with black sesame ice cream, tiny... a few bites and done. This is a very casual restaurant and it is shared with a ramen/noodle place. Maybe their other cakes and tea combos are better?

    Dee N.

Just found my new place for Ramen noodle near Jtown supermarket. This place is a small but cute full of Japanese decor that make you feel lost in the Japanese culture. The food is so tasty and authentic Japanese. I'm coming back real soon

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

Was worried it wouldn't be filling, but it's just the right amount of food. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a traditional Japanese meal, this would be my spot. The sushi chef was very friendly and approachable, but he wouldn't make you feel like you need to yap with him like other omakase I've been to in Toronto where they would talk to the customers a lot. The wait staff was attentive and polite. Overall really good quality sushi, service and value. Would come again! I also appreciate that they don't require a deposit for reservations and don't require to pick the set you want beforehand. Very clean and warm design. Felt like I was in Japan!

Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.
