At midland and finch, we wanted to try this popular spot we heard about. There was a line out the door when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. It was a very narrow space inside with limited seating. Honestly it felt cramped after ordering, waiting for food and dining in. I noticed a lot of people ended up taking out since there wasn't room to dine in. Anyway, got the fish ball noodles and beef noodles. These were cheap eats! And big bowls of noodles too. I wasn't a massive fan of the noodles itself but the fish balls were tasty and bouncy. I feel like the broth didn't have much flavour so we used their chili oil. Overall it was an average bowl of noodles at low prices. Not a comfortable dining experience though because of how crowded it gets.

Location/Service This place is located in the busy Skycity Plaza, near the end of the plaza by Lala Bakeshop. Plenty of parking around the block and it's not too busy so you wouldn't have issues. Inside is a bit small though, but it reminds me a lot of what I experience in Asia. It's designed to have a combo of small dine-in seating and also takeout - so there are 2 lines happening at the same time in a way, and you get to see everything that gets done while waiting. Staff were nice and friendly and orders were done quickly. Food Everything menu item here is pretty staple and I loved the fact that it was all under $10. With this economy, this is truly an unbeatable! If you like staple comfort food, then try the Rice Noodles and Fish Balls. If you want a hearty meal, then try the Handmade Fishball Noodles or Braised Beef Noodles. All of them are good and they are truly made in-house - literally you see them doing it. You can also add drinks for $1 as a combo and it was very decent! This place really brings me back to Asia where you come and go for a quick bite and they have long operating hours so it's perfect whether you want it as breakfast or a late night meal.

Food is good for the value. Great cheap eats. Portions are pretty big too. Will definitely come again.

There's around ten tables inside and it was not super busy on a Sunday night. I got the soup lamb noodle, pork pan fried buns and the pork dry noodle. My favourite was the buns. They were crispy and the filling was flavourful and meaty. The soup lamb noodle was pretty good too. The broth was hearty and hit the spot. The pork noodle was average, it had a unique spice flavour. Both of the noodles had very little meat though. Service was quick, not super friendly but was attentive when we need it. A decent spot not sure if I'd come back given all the different options around.

Our weekly lunch brought us to Bao and Broth, and we loved this little place!…read more B & B is a small family run restaurant serving up a handful of well crafted dishes in a quaint 7-8 table restaurant. Our server was friendly and made recommendations after asking us if it was our first visit which was helpful. We opted for a steamed noodle dish, seaweed salad, beef noodle soup and pan fried pork dumplings. The braised beef noodles soup came with chunks of tender beef shank morsels with wide flat noodles that were chewy and silky at the same time. The broth was not the usual tomatoey kind which I liked. The seasoning was perfect for my palate, as I tend to use less salt to cook at home. This was a solid noodle soup experience. The server brought out a small scissor to cut the noodles with, but we didn't really need to use it. The pan fried pork dumplings was juicy with nice skin. I brought some leftovers home, and my daughter devoured them while gushing about how delicious these were. Guess we'll have to come back here. The seaweed salad was well seasoned and on point as well. Perhaps our least favorite was the steamed noodle dish which felt a bit dry for my liking, but this was also good when eaten with a fresh garlic they provided on the side. Overall, the meal here was very satisfying and I hope to return to try other offerings soon.

I loved my Braised beef noodle soup at Orient Express, Scarborough!…read more Absolutely delicious and beautiful to look at! The beef was so tender and rich with flavour as was the broth, bok choy, leeks and coriander. The fresh thin wide noodles were delicious too. I was so amazed at the skill and speed of watching hand-pulled noodles being made! They came from a small slab of dough in less than 60 seconds! You can choose from nine different shapes and sizes of noodles and watch someone hand-pull them through a glass window! So cool! This was a lot of food so I could only finish half and took the rest home. They have so many other dishes I want to try so I'll be back. Highly recommend! Big thanks to my server Joewin who helped make my first visit so welcoming and memorable! The service and meal arrived super fast because I arrived 11:30am on a Monday before lunch crowd. Very nice spacious restaurant.

The broth is rich and beefy and the noodles are chewy. It also comes out very fast. The lamb skewers are decent. Not amazing, but good enough. The stand out items for me are the stir fry cabbage and stir fry beef and green onion. Both were very tasty and had generous servings.

I'm not sure how I had this place bookmarked- maybe Suresh? Im not sure, but it's probably because…read moreit serves beef noodle soup and I'm always craving itS It is a one woman operation and I knew that before coming. The business on Google said it opens at 11, and I tried to come in, but she was not ready. I waited for a long time to get tea. Parking in this place is 2 dollars for every half hour so I was kind of hoping for faster service. I was served a piping pot of tea after 10 minutes. She was cooking up a storm in there. But it didn't feel like my meal as she was frying something... and yes as I was leaving there was an Uber eats guy. The beef noodle soups broth was very nice. Rich and tasty, a lot of sesame oil taste. Beef was good quality. Dumplings were good too. When I was leaving she mentioned that I don't have to pay for parking next time. Come and support a one woman business!

If mom and pop restaurants are your jam, Yunxi Handmade Noodles will have you swooning as it's an…read moreintimate establishment. Technically, Yunxi would be considered a mom restaurant as the female owner acts as the Jill of all trades: hostess, chef, server, and cleaner. She's a sweet lady describing what was freshly prepared for the day (in my case, the noodles) as she rotates between making noodles and preparing dumplings daily. The broth of the braised beef noodles ($14.99) was salty and strong, as one should expect from a dish that's essentially beef braised in soy sauce. I liked that Yunxi finishes the freshly made noodles in the soup to allow it to soak in flavours and develop a brownish tint. While there wasn't a whole lot of beef, the handful of chunks were lean and tender. Halfway through the meal, the owner returns with a small bowl of extra noodles, asking if we'd like a complementary top-up. Why of course, and into the bowl they go for round two. My first choice in dumplings (leek, shrimp, and pork) was sold out so we opted for the chicken and mushroom instead ($10.99 for 12). With a choice of preparation - steamed, boiled, or pan fried - I generally order them steamed as I find this leaves the dumplings the most neutral so you can appreciate the filling's flavours and the consistency of the wrapper. Unlike the noodles, the dumplings were made previously (at least a couple of days prior) so the wrapper was too hard and chewy. Consequently, I'd recommend asking the owner when things were prepared and if it isn't fresh, order the dumplings boiled to give the wrapper some extra hydration. At least the filling was juicy - use a spoon to ensure the juices aren't lost as they squirt out - and the dumplings were filled with a decent portion of the well seasoned, finely minced chicken and mushrooms.
