This Chinese restaurant is quite new in the plaza and serving Cantonese cuisine. It's used to be the location for Asia legends. We ordered special combo with : 1. double fresh lobsters in Hong Kong style, 4/5 2. steamed chicken 4/5 3. Free soup 5/5 4. tofu 4/5 5. pineapple sweet and sour pork 4/5 Overall good quality with good portion, 1 point off for additional charges $12 on top of the combo price for father's day, which is unreasonable.

Affordable Chinese food for bigger groups - this place has a wide variety of options to choose from. Overall my experience at the restaurant was positive - the servers let us know what the special dish of the day was and made recommendations but was not pushy about getting it. Our group opted to get the special combo which includes: 1.) Choice of Lobster or Crab or Fish 2.) Steamed or Hand Shredded Chicken 3.) Steamed Rice (2 bowls) and Soup 4.) Additional Dishes (starting from 1 additional) Price starts at $59.99 and goes up as you add more additional dishes. Price point is very reasonable for the portions you get. We also got complimentary dessert at the end. Would recommend any of the dishes you see in my photos!

Chinese | Seafood | Combo | Foodie Boy Milk Tea | Metro Square | Card & cash accepted ********** Soft opening dinner review *********** Upgraded rating!!! Second time visiting and trying their dinner menu instead. Same great, speedy and attentive service and I really appreciate that they took my suggestions into consideration and actually took action! First thing I noticed is that they had attempted to tape up the draft spot for a more comfortable seating experience. The lovely music is still playing. They're also very busy with take out and Fantuan orders. ~ Food ~ $88 特價和菜 Combo (4-6 people) Great deal! Good portion and came so fast! Does not include daily soup. Double lobster 薑蔥蒸龍蝦 - Came really fast, good flavour and texture Steamed tilapia 清蒸立魚 - Nice and hot, flavourful and texture was steamed to perfection Steamed half chicken 貴妃雞 - Came quick and cooked well Stir fried beef w/ vegetables 菜心炒牛肉 - Good Sweet & sour pork 咕嚕肉 - Nice and crispy, sauce coated evenly Fried rice w/ lobster tomalley 龍蝦膏炒飯 - Good, you can see lots of pieces and also eggs Add: Pepper pork belly chicken soup 胡椒豬肚雞湯 - Large $38.99 Lots of ingredients, good portion, good flavours and good price Personally I can do more pepper but this was great too for its price! ~ 2nd Conclusion ~ Definitely saw that improvement; that's what soft openings are all about. Happy to upgrade the rating and definitely return again! I can see the hard working staff and dedication. *********** Soft opening lunch review ********** Old 味香村 location. They kept the old interior design from the previous restaurant. Currently some good lunch combo deals starting at $7.99 and seafood combos at $38. Service was great, very friendly staff that looked after us well. The bathrooms could use some cleaning and furniture fixing though. Beware when you sit by the window there was a cold draft that came from the unused door. ~ Food ~ $48 Grass Bass Set 青斑套餐 & $68 Lobster Set 龍蝦套餐 All the dishes were displayed nicely. Daily soup 霸王花蘿蔔例湯 was good but first pot there was only one piece of 霸王花. Second refill there were 2 pieces of 蘿蔔. The noodle dishes were kind of bland 清清地. For me it's okay cause I like things not too salty but perhaps for average people they may want more flavour. The Maggie sauce fish bone 美極魚骨腩 was good. Crispy, hot and flavorful. Also had the fish head. 粉絲蒜蓉蒸龍蝦球 Garlic vermicelli steamed lobster was good. The flavouring was good but the vermicelli could be softer. The little pieces of lobsters were good for lunch size. The fish congee felt like just plain congee topped with fish and not boiled in it. Could maybe boil longer with fish. 白粥加魚片. Same with the lobster congee, taste like they just topped the congee with lobster. There was a generous amount of fish and lobster pieces though. The congee texture was pretty good. However, we did not get deep fried dough sticks油條. I only remembered it after I left so I didn't ask them. ~ Drinks ~ The drinks were made by Foodie Boy who also had a store upstairs of Pacific Mall before the fire happened. The hot and cold milk teas were smooth and good. ~ Conclusion ~ Overall a great place for a generous hearty meal. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes, combos and dinner.

When we arrived here for dinner the place was pretty busy, but we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. After we ordered our food was brought to us pretty quickly as well. The first thing we got was the HK Style Milk Tea and we really enjoyed it! The first entree we tried was the Seafood Fried Taiwanese Vermicelli. I'm usually a big fan of vermicelli dishes and this was no exception. The noodles had tons of flavour and they gave a good amount of shrimp and squid. Next we tried the sweet and sour pork and we loved it! The pork was delicious and the peppers and pineapple were nice too. The sweet and sour sauce was really tasty and not too overpowering. The last dish to arrive with the BBQ Duck With Rice and it was probably my favourite. The duck was amazing and the skin was really crispy. The Chinese broccoli was refreshing and complemented the duck very well. We were glad we got so much rice and ended up eating it with the sweet and sour pork as well. Overall we had a great experience here and will probably be back some day. The service was pretty good and they didn't seem to mind bringing me an extra set of chopsticks when I accidentally dropped mine. However, the restaurant was very crowded and loud so it could get overwhelming at times.

L15 Beef w/Black Bean on Rice $7.99 L48 Fried Rice w7 Chicken & Pineapple $8.99 L63 Fried Noodle w/Beef & Vegetable $8.99 Jumbo HK Milk Tea Cold $5 Jumbo Lemon Tea $5 You'll come and leave "" because the prices are so wallet friendly! The food is decent portions and the flavours were okay, not a huge wow factor but I do believe the cook with more healthy mindset i.e less salt and oil. I don't know too much about the restaurant itself but it seems like its new and old at the same time? Possibly a restaurant takeover. It has some modernish touches but a preloved feel.. for example our utensils were chipped Either way its worth a visit and a try because meals now a days cost a pretty penny and this wont break the bank plus you get a free soup starter? Thats unheard of

Maggi Beef, but I couldn't taste the Maggi. Also it's RAW!! But when shown to the staff, they said it's 70% cooked.... You be the judge

First time at this recently opened restaurant for a family dinner, it was very disappointing. The ambiance is okay, but the service was pretty bad, especially this one lady who was loud and rude. We ordered 7 dishes, and somehow everything was bad, except for their chicken. The Pepper Pork Belly Soup was exceptionally terrible, it was very salty and it smelled horrible, don't think they washed the pork belly at all. Ordered their "famous" milk tea as well, but didn't get to try it as we had to wait more than 30mins and it was still not ready, so we cancelled it, we just wanted to leave. Not sure if it was just an off night, or if their chef wasn't there tonight, but it was a really bad experience. I don't think I can come back and give it another try anytime soon, it's been a long time since the last time I left a restaurant feeling angry...

Overall not too bad, the food isn't mind blowing but it's hit a comforting mood if I can call it that. Also the food is palatable. For the price and what you get it hits a nice equilibrium. Service is pretty slow. Not as far as some other places. Make sure to reserve a spot or else you will end up waiting a long time. Even if you reserve, you still have to wait for a period of time. A good spot to come to if you want comforting food and not spend a fortune.

First time at this relatively new restaurant. The interior is modern and relatively clean. The service is pretty good for a Chinese restaurant (IMO). We opted for their lunch specials which are offered from 11am to 3pm. I ordered L11 Chicken with Ginger Onion on Rice, $7.99 (comes with house soup). They say the chicken is free-run chicken. For the price, it is a great deal to get a massive plate of white rice, some vegetables and some protein (eating relatively nutritious and on a budget at a restaurant - can't ask for more). The chicken is cooked through, very tender and based on the size, appears to be free-run chicken. A lot of other tables were chowing down on their seafood specials - take a look at the menus!

Stumbled across Happy Fishman Seafood Restaurant located at Metro Square, tried out their combo A for $72 which includes: Double Lobster w/ Maggi Sauce (3/5) Steamed Chicken Half (3.5/5) Stir Fried Clam w/Black Bean Sauce(2.5/5) Fish Soup w/ Snow Pea Leaves(2.5/5) Spare Ribs w/Orange Peel(2/5) Fried Lobster w/ Lobster Tomolley(3.5/5) $72 Overall for the price it sure included lots of options but I did find the flavours were underwhelming... clams were rather fishy tasting. The dishes are smaller portions compared to other restaurants... I would say it's more like food court style? Not a bad meal but don't think I'd ever come back. I do recommend making reservations, they are quite busy.

Each time we visit from NYC we stop by at least a couple of times for their fresh and tasty dishes, great value set menus, and award winning Hong Kong style milk tea. One of if not the best HK Milk Tea on the east coast outside of Hong Kong! We buy a few bottles to drive back to NYC each time we visit! Must try!

We came before Mother's Day so it was a while ago and I am writing from high level memory. Overall 4-stars because of the value of the combo and the high level of services. The services level during our visit exceeded many higher end Chinese restaurants. We ordered the lobster combo for 4. I think the portion could feed 5. So gauge how much you order. Lobsters were in season, so the lobster was fat and delicious. (BTW we chose to cook it with ginger and onion. As ours appeared to be the only table that ordered it cooked this way, the kitchen cooked it especially for us.). The other memorable dish was the fish in pickled vegetables pot. This was a spicy dish. Even though the kitchen tamed it down to suit southern people, it was really spicy still. Yes, it was delicious, as I used the leftover broth to make soup noodle. Yummy

I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. It's simply deceiving customers.

New Century will feed a large group. Their lobster, Dungeness crab, and sea bass combo for eight…read more($798) would satisfy ten or twelve. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

My friend and I were wandering around FMP trying to decide what to eat when we came across Fish…read moreWith You's November "Black Friday" deal, where for $49.99 you get 2 regular size sauerkraut fish soups pre-upgraded to snakehead, 1 half-and-half snack, and any 2 drinks. If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

New sauerkraut fish soup spot in Markham…read more A chain from asia that has finally made it's way to Markham. They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
