    French toast with milk tea
    Cin C.

A neighbourhood Hong Kong Café with brisk service and the usual menu options. A set meal is around $15 and comes with coffee or milk tea. I had a craving for French toast, which was prepared as usual but nothing spectacular for $10. A bit steep for two pieces of deep fried bread. The milk tea was very good, as it was smooth and rich with no lingering harness which made it worth it. They take cash or debit, no credit.

This café has been in the Neighbourhood for a long while. I pass by to have a full breakfast with chicken and fried egg with Hong Kong style tea. Taste is fine, not disappointed and no surprise. The service is fast and efficient. Hong Kong style is not that bad. It is a casual local restaurant. It is worth visit once a while. There is parking nearby, but sometimes in peak hours in the weekend, it is not easy to find parking.

Have driven by this place many many times and finally stopped to have lunch. Located at Metro Square on Steeles (west of Warden) this is a Hong Kong style cafe with all the standards you would find in a cha chan teng. We went with a lunch special, Wonton and Beef Brisket Rice Vermicelli Soup. Lunch special comes with a soup and drink. Soup is Chinese broth style, so not your standard borscht or cream soup. Portion and flavour were good. Lots of pieces of braised beef brisket and 3 decent pork and shrimp wonton. There were even vegetables (yu choy). The place was busy over the lunch hour but service was decent.

Stale pineapple bun with butter :)

I have given up on leaving reviews for a hot minute since I know business is hard these few years, but... I must say that they have the worst pineapple bun with butter and Hongkong milk tea in the area. The pineapple bun was hard and dry. They served it kinda warm... I only used 1/3 of the butter they gave me because it took forever (5min) to soften in between the bun. Let's just say I took 2 bites and was stale. As for the HK milk tea?.... Sigh. Can't even. I came here many years ago and never understood why it was popular because food was already pretty mid... if anything, it just got worse. I don't know why so many people are still raving about it on red book. Are they paid rev

pork chop w/ gravy, egg and toast

There weren't any other open resto options around in the morning when my fam came here to dine. We ordered a bunch of stuff from the early morning menu. The satay beef on vermicelli had the tiniest amount of beef portioned in. The soup had no taste whatsoever. The beef brisket and tendon noodle soup was mid as well. The beef itself was tender but MY GOD WERE THEY STINGY with the protein. Also, the broth STILL had no taste. The pork chop was pounded out thin and then smothered in gravy. Gravy was ok, pork chop itself was overcooked to smithereens. Same w/ the accompanying egg. Sunnyside up egg gets you a fully cooked one apparently. My bro got an egg sandwich as an accompaniment to his pork chop and received egg that was also overcooked in the sandwich as well. The lemon tea tasted bad, the milk tea was passable. If I could sum up the food in one word it would be: bland. It didn't seem like they seasoned anything at all! I know HK cafe food is supposed to generally be lighter but that doesn't mean NO seasoning loool! Oh yea, some other reviewer mentioned that the server forgot to bring eating utensils to the table. This was also the case for us. Brought all the dishes and left. Returned 5 min later to see how everything tasted already when we thought she was finding cutlery for us in the back.

Haven't been here in quite some time so decided to have lunch here with 2 other friends and 3 kids on a Saturday. It was extremely busy, the wait was about 45-50 mins to get a table. The waitresses there all looked so angry - it almost seemed like they didn't want to work or they weren't getting enough tips. I ordered the fried rice noodle w/ beef, it came with a daily soup and a choice of drink so I got the hong kong milk tea. The prices are slightly higher compared to other cafes and the portion was really small. They should really improve on increasing the portion or perhaps alter their prices.

Inexpensive Hong Kong style Cafe for tea, brunch or snacks. We got the instant noodles with braised beef, The pineapple bun with butter, and some milk teas. Everything was up to standard and very inexpensive. Food was served within 5 minutes of when we arrived. This is a No Frills spot to grab a quick bite, it's even faster than any fast food places. Don't expect kind service or any special decor in the restaurant. There are washrooms available on the ground floor.

Cheaper prices but tiny portion size. This is a Hong Kong cafe style restaurant and I came here to explore what their food options are. Upon arriving, it's quite clean for a Hong Kong cafe with quite some empty tables on a weeknight dinner rush. Upon looking at the menu, I did notice that the prices were fairly cheaper than regular Hong Kong cafes around the area, and understood the pricing one the food came out. The portions are significantly smaller here compared to other restaurants. You can make the meals into combos so I got the iced lemon tea and started with their soup of the day. Both were okay. Onto the food we got: Bitter Melon spare rib rice 3/5 - Very few pieces of both bitter melon and spare ribs. Flavour was not the best and again portion sizing was really little. Seafood fried noodle 4/5 - The better option on the menu. It was quite tasty with a few pieces of seafood like squid. Baked chicken on tomato sauce rice 3/5 - The sauce was a little on the sweeter side and was quite runny than what I'm use to. The corn was a nice added touch. Overall, the restaurant can use some improvements on their menu items. Tastewise, it could be a hit or miss based on what you order.

Super affordable HK cafe! Nothing super special about this place but they definitely deserve 4 stars for being extremely affordable, big portions and fast! I got the black pepper steak with rice ( $12-14), comes with a soup and a drink. The food here is what you expect walking into a HK cafe, comforting and really hits you in the memory lane.

Mediocre Hong Kong style restaurant. Nothing outstanding, yet not much to complaint against either. Average food 3 Star, medium price value 3 Star, the only thing that is above average is the interior 4 Star.... Seatings is well spaced apart, dining area is well kept and inviting. More importantly, the business is open until 9pm. Just for this reason alone, I've been revisiting this restaurant from time to time.

Chicken in Honey Pepper Sauce on Rice
    Arnold L.

I came to Metro Square Cafe with my friends after a night of NYE partying, looking for a hearty meal for our hangovers. We were looking forward to a simple meal with big portions for reasonable prices. It was a mixed experience to say the least. We were seated upon arrival, which was nice considering it was during brunch hour. Among the food options, the main focus is on Hong Kong Style Diner food, ranging from baked rice, fried noodles, eggs and soup. The set combos come up with a daily soup and coffee/tea. My friends and I ordered from their all day set menu. I ordered the Chicken in Honey Pepper Sauce on Rice. The dish was prepared decently, with the spicy honey sauce complimenting the chicken nicely. However, the portion of the entire dish was lackluster as me and my friend received only 5 pieces of chicken. The bell peppers could have been cooked a tad more and there could have been more sauce to bring the whole dish together. The food here isn't bad, however the portion sizes are below par compared to other HK Diners in the GTA. If there is a time where me and my friends need a quick bite, we will for sure swing by here, but it won't be for a while until they adjust their portions to their prices.

Smooth operation as if well trained by pandemic. Ordered the supposingly famous the hot plate black pepper beef ($17). Lot of beef. Bold taste. No finesse in presentation. Other dishes are average in taste.

They have a few special menu items, like the unagi pizza - which I found was not the best in terms of taste. I can't pick out exactly what it is, but something on there wasn't to my liking. Either way, interesting menu item to try. To finish off, I ordered some cotton candy for my sister. The space itself is bright, cozy, and modern. It's great for a casual brunch. The menu focuses on creative takes on classic brunch dishes, with most plates around $18-$25 and drinks about $6-$9. We tried the pork sausage shakshouka, pork jowl eggs benny, and a strawberry matcha latte. The drink was a standout--refreshing, nicely layered, and not overly sweet. The dishes themselves had good flavors and promising concepts. Unfortunately, the experience started off rough. Despite having a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes for a table during the busy Saturday brunch rush, and parking around the plaza was difficult. When the food arrived, the eggs in both the eggs benny and the shakshouka were overcooked, which was disappointing since runny yolks are key to both dishes. Overall, Corner Cafe has a nice vibe and an interesting brunch menu, but the long wait, tough parking, and inconsistent execution made the experience fall short this time.

I've tried these korean style egg sandwiches before and the main thing is that the bread is and the egg is warm when serving. So it really threw us off that the egg was fridge cold. Cold eggs and stale bread that honestly tasted oily was a disappointment for this spot. We ordered the ice cream sandwich for dessert which WAS enjoyable and the saving grace of the meal. All in all I would come here for the buns and pastries but not an actual meal (the table next to us who ordered pasta dishes also complained the food was cold).

The entrance of Omventure is somewhat hidden where it faces the back of a big building housing several different businesses (mainly restaurants). A great place for kids, teens, families, as well as young adults, the space houses a variety of escape rooms with different difficulty levels, where there is a suggested number of people needed per room. Depending on the difficulty of the escape room, you are given either 60 min, 90 min, or 120 min to solve or escape the room. You are able to book your escape room ahead of time, which is highly recommended. They do have family and kid friendly escape rooms available as well. Also, the use of phones is not allowed when you play the escape rooms - if you do decide to bring your phone into the escape room and use it, you can cause your time in the escape room to end early (they have security footage throughout the rooms). This location also has an expansive board game area with many large tables and many games as well as a cafe selling bubble tea and snacks. There is also a gaming area with video game consoles as well. My party of 4 stopped by Omventure on a Saturday evening where we had booked the escape room "Kingdom of Cats" (60 min, 3/5 difficulty, best for 3-8 people). Upon entering, you pay at the counter where you can get discounts if you follow them on social media or if it is your birthday. Once ready, your belongings are placed in a single locker and you are asked to watch a video explaining the rules of the escape room. Staff also provide you with a walkie talkie where you can ask for unlimited hints if you are really stuck. Afterwards, staff lead you to your particular escape room. My party and I managed finish the "Kingdom of Cats" escape room in the allotted time, although we had to ask staff twice as we were stuck with what to do next. This particular escape room required us to solve puzzles and riddles while paying attention to our surroundings. There was a bit of crawling as we headed to at least 4 different rooms. It may seem confusing where to begin at first when you are placed in the room but with teamwork and communication, you end up figuring out what to do to move to the next step. This particular escape room isn't scary, but it is kid friendly and fun. The 60 min really flew by just like that as we had to use our brains in order to figure things out. I haven't done a lot of escape rooms but this one was really nicely designed with lots of details throughout. Moving through the different rooms was pretty cool and finding the clues and working as a team together allowed us to escape and finish. After we were finished with the escape room, staff came to get us and took our picture on the stage where we could choose different boards to hold up. Nice touch as a souvenir of the fun time you had while you were there. For an additional fee you can also play as many board games if you'd like, but we decided not to. Overall, a fun escape room adventure for everyone! Would love to try the more difficult and scary ones next time. It is a great setup for parties. We booked a birthday package that included three hours of hangout time (board games, consoles, photo area), one large pizza, eight drinks, and a one-hour escape room for eight kids. Paper plates and cutlery were provided, and parents could relax while the kids played. Bring your own cake and other refreshments with no hassle. Well-manner staffs are helpful and easy to work with. At around CAD $430 including tax, it felt reasonable, especially since the kids had an absolute blast.
