Finding a dry cleaner that can handle delicate white apparel can be tricky. After much research I'm glad the reviews hold true here. This piece had makeup and lipstick on it. Love the Eco-friendly feeling! I really hate having to dry clean clothes. But unfortunately, I have to wear a suit every day at work and it's absolutely not machine washable. And every now and then I fall in love with clothes that are dry-clean only (even thought I try to avoid them). I've tried a few other places and found that Greenspin is the best. I've tried Davis Imperial and Barry Regent, and for my needs, Greenspin is just as good. Now I don't own fur of anything ornate, so I can't comment on those kinds of things. I love that my clothes don't smell like chemicals. My skin isn't bothered like it has been from other cleaners, and the prices are reasonable. It's not the cheapest, but absolutely worth it to me. The barcode system is also great. However if you don't want them to tag your clothes, you can also request for them not to. The drive thru is awesome! I love not having to worry about weather when I want to pick up my clothes. Service is always friendly and nice. I get a gift every year around the holidays. I've also used the tailor here. It's serviceable. I would say if it's something easy like a pant hem then do it. For anything else, go to an actual tailor. I am beyond upset with this business for ruining an expensive, black-tie dress I wore one time. They shrank the entire dress so much, it's as if they put it through a conventional washer and dryer. This dress used to be perfectly floor length (with heels), as it I got it hemmed to my height when I bought it. Now it is basically a midi dress and I can barely zip it up because it is so shrunken after taking it here to be cleaned. It looks terrible and is unwearable now. This business appealed to me because it's marketed as green, but I will never come back here again unless it is to pick up the $400 they owe me from ruining this gown. Do not go here. I just moved to the neighborhood and since this place got such good reviews I decided to try it out. I took in one pair of dress pants and a long formal pleated dress. Besides being shocked by the overpriced receipt of 2 items, I got my dress home and realized they ripped the back seam and the fabric was now fraying and the pleats were ironed almost flat and now non-existent! This is a brand new dress that I had only worn once and now it is ruined past repair. They refused to pay for damages. The pants also needed to be redone. When I returned to pick the pants up, the store lost them! I am now out two expensive clothing items and no refund on the items or the dry cleaning bill! DO NOT GO HERE! read more

They are "eco-friendly" and employ green methods. They are friendly and highly computerized with their systems and accounting. I was looking for a dry cleaner that didn't use the usual toxic chemicals to clean that are known human carcinogens (honestly, google this info the stuff most regular cleaners use is horrid). I learned that using a "wet" dry cleaning method with none of the common chemicals is the best way to go and that's what Green Spin offers. Green Spin's website was transparent about their methods so I appreciated that. I contacted them via email because I needed a coat done asap for same-day pickup and they were very responsive and informative. My husband took my coat the next day by 9 am and was able to pick up the same day at 6 pm. My coat came back perfectly clean and I'm grateful that it's not filled with toxic crap that I'm breathing in and putting on my skin. It honestly pains me to write this review.. i have been coming to this dry cleaners since moving to chicago in 2019. That is the only reason they get two stars. The son who runs the dry cleaners he is incredible, very friendly and nice. The staff has really gone down hill, they are rude and argumentative. There has been so many times that i've dropped off ONE shirt ..come back at the time my receipt says and it STILL was not ready. All of this followed by a comment from one of the frint of the house girls "well it was really dirty" hi! thank you for that, hence why i've come to a dry cleaners! i really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since i've been a customer for so long, but i'm done with them. The last time i picked up my one item, it was not ready when it was supposed to be..i returned hours later .. got that "it was very dirty" comment and it still wasn't cleaned. I don't have that much dry cleaning to do, but I definitely prefer to patronize facilities that use "green" methods vs. old-school, hazardous perc. (Green Spin uses liquid CO2.) The facility was clean and well-lit. No sooner had I stepped in the door than a woman came from the back to help me. She was friendly and took care of my order quickly. The prices were a little lower than Greener Cleaner in Wicker Park. They didn't charge extra for the belts that came with sweaters. I prepaid with my credit card. Turnaround time was better as well. My items would be ready the next day even though I didn't need them to be rushed. (If you drop them off by noon, you can have them the same day.) I had forgotten to mention that I didn't want a crease put in a pair of pants. They offered to press them again at no charge for pickup the next day. So far, so good! read more

Love this cleaner! Friendly, fast service. I have very sensitive skin and haven't had any issues with taking my clothes here. My clothes seem cleaner and brighter than they did when I went to a traditional dry cleaner. They have a drive-through garage for easy drop off and pick-up. Good pricing too. They also place stickers on your clothing labels and they scan them each time you bring in an item. It automatically pulls up your account information and keeps track of your items. Been using this cleaners for about 10 years (started way back when they were Continental Cleaners and they weren't spinning anything green!). Always plenty of staff to assist you and they are always friendly and helpful. They have never lost an item of clothing. At least, not that I know of :) Actually would be hard to do since they put a bar code sticker on each item and scan it at drop off and pick up. I decided to write this review after I cheated on Greenspin trying to save a few bucks and had a horrible experience - lesson learned. Greenspin is my go to cleaners especially if I need something lickety split! Drop it off in the morning, pick it up by 5pm. Their prices are reasonable and my clothes: 1. don't stink like chemicals 2. don't stink like yukky mold 3. aren't shrunk 1 or 2 sizes Also, from time to time, when shopping at the Dominick's on Clybourn/Fullerton I've been lucky and received a coupon for Greenspin on the back on my receipt - BONUS!! Staff is always friendly, and I also appreciate that they take credit/debit cards - as there are several dry cleaners that for some reason don't accept them. Dropped off a $350 dress to dry clean. Upon pick-up, one of the fasteners on the back of the dress was no longer there. I was very unhappy so they sewed a new one on, which did not fully match. I told them I would not pay full price for the dry cleaning. They said ok, but then charged me full price. In the end we had to part ways for three reasons. They lost a black cashmere scarf and did not refund the $100 replacement fee. Second, their prices are very expensive even for a green cleaner, and they fought me on sending the price list. The owner called me directly and worked to fix the problem. But this negotiation happened after I filed with the Better Business Bureau and posted negative reviews regarding price transparency. In the end the prices for alterations and other non-standard requests became an opportunity for exploitation of the customer even after the standardized list was made available. Third, the owner was rude about an incident with a coat. The final charge was three times as much as I was quoted over the phone to fix buttons and a pocket that was tearing from the coat. I dropped the coat off and the woman behind the counter gave me an estimate and then called to confirm. The owner confirmed there was no need to open the lining by e-mail. When I picked up, the pocket was not done and they quickly finished while I waited. This took less than 10 min. But the charge reflected hours of work. They agreed to charge less for the buttons, but the owner told me it was only a $1 refund per button while the woman behind the counter said it was $2 and the girl who took the coat said $7 per button and twelve if the lining was opened. The buttons and pocket cost more than the original cost of the Guess coat. The main problem is that the owner became hostile and really fought me. I am glad to have found another true green option in Chicago. For years Green Spin was the only option for CO2 cleaning. Most so called "green" cleaners in Chicago use the Green Earth or hydrocarbon solutions which are very toxic and banned from green cleaning subsidy programs in other states. Even the other cleaners that use wet cleaning usually pair it with hydrocarbon methods. I have been using Greenspin for about 7 month now and I got to say, I love it here. The dress shirts come back beautiful. The amount of starch is just as we like it and it is up to you if you want starch or not. The staff, always nice and friendly. They are open till 7 on weekdays and are located across the street from Costco so I always combine shopping with my drop off and pick ups. So this is only for the tailoring side of the company. I picked up my wedding dress today. This has been a horrible experience. Seamstresswas asked to keep any remnants from the dress so I could make it part of my Vail and bouquet. I only plan on getting married once, so this is very special to me. The remnants are also very key to my wedding wear. The hemming of the dress took days longer than I was told. I went in for a last fitting and was told to come back in 6 days. I did. I'm not sure why I was told to do this since the wedding dress hadn't been touched since I left it the week before. The same pins were in it, in the same places on the same place in her clothing rack. I was asked to come by in two days to pick the dress up and was promised it would be ready. Mind you, I'm getting married the next day. When I picked up the dress it was done, but no remnants for my Vail and bouquet. This is expensive material that I can just pick up at Joanne fabrics. When the owner was made aware if the seamstresses huge error, she did nothing while the seamstress just smiled. I will not be back here. Think twice before you go to this seamstress or use this business. They didn't even try to apologize or make amends for this mistake. You have ruined a part of my wedding! read more

As a standard dry cleaners, they are as good as any I've used in the city. Shirts, sweaters, pants - they do a great job in a timely manner. Everyone is very friendly, and they even gave me a small gift for the holidays! For suits or fur trimmed down coats, I still pay a little extra for Barry Regent. As for the tailoring, I can't recommend them. I've had jeans, dress pants, and a sport coat tailored here and overall I've been unhappy with the results; visible stitches, uneven hems. I'm so torn on this place. I love the eco-friendly methods they use, their location, and how nice and clean they keep the premises and I've generally found their service to be good... but their prices are high and we had one VERY bad experience that makes we question whether or not we'll ever go back. We have a cheap comforter for our guest room that needs to be washed in a double washer. It shouldn't ever be dry cleaned because it was only about $40 to buy the thing. I was going to take it to the laundromat, but my husband was going to Greenspin, so he said he'd inquire if they'd wash it. He dropped it off and he made it very clear that he only wanted it washed, not dry cleaned. They said no problem and off he went. I went to pick it up, and it was $40!!! $40 to WASH NOT DRY CLEAN this el cheapo comforter. I figured it was a misunderstanding and went to meet him at Menards. He was taken aback that no one mentioned to him that they charge that price for washing OR dry cleaning. When we inquired, they informed us that they charge based on "weight and the amount of folding that must be done." Now I've folded many comforters, and I don't know that it warrants jacking up the price 10X. I understand if it is a high-quality comforter that must be dry cleaned... but it's not. They threw it in a washer and dryer using no more advanced technology than at the local laundromat, then folded it, and thought it was appropriate to charge us $40 for it. That's NOT okay. I get that they charge a premium for their dry cleaning services and I take no exception to that... but $40 for laundering one item, is exorbitant. I know my husband will never go back, that's for sure. I guess I'll just have to find another place to take the dry cleaning. Anyone else know of another eco-friendly cleaner? read more

I'm very happy with this cleaner. They don't use PERC which is wonderful and the clothes are done in a green manner. For men's dress shirts you may have to request a heavier starch but it's still an equally as good as the other places in terms of finished product and quality. read more
