I thought I would put my two cents into these reviews for this business. This place is no frills, simple, fast, and locally owned. Support small businesses! I noticed some Yelp reviews explain a miscommunication with their service. My best advice to avoid problematic situations: be direct, keep your ticket for easy pick ups, be FRIENDLY, and ALWAYS check your clothes for chosen alterations right then and there during pickup. If you go home, and then days later find a rip, it's not really valid or fair to assume the dry cleaners did it. Be nice, this family is running their business to make our lives easier. This is the best place to bring nicer items. I took a pair of fabric pants to three different cleaners in the area and this was the only place that was able to remove it completely. I've been going there for many years (after bad experiences at a couple of other nearby cleaners) and have always been happy with the service - never any issues with lost or damaged items. Do not get your dry cleaning or tailoring done here. I had a pair of pants that I left with them to be tailored and paid at the time I dropped them off. When I came to pick them up, the owner told me it would be $10 more and refused to give them back. He never called me before he started tailoring them to tell me that it would be more expensive and continued to refuse to give me back my pants and dry cleaning. After telling him that's illegal, he finally gave them back. But don't get your tailoring or dry cleaning done here because apparently the owners are dishonest and will hold your clothes hostage unless you pay them more. read more

Short Review: Good dry cleaning service, solid press and fold service, but not willing to accommodate a simple ironing modification. The owner was not shy about expressing the preferential treatment of customers with smaller drop-off loads. This isn't how my schedule works with laundry, and if i'm paying for a service the least the provider of that service can do is accommodate my schedule, not the other way around. ------------------------------------- Long Review: I bring 25-30 button down dress shirts and 5-10 dress pants in every month for dry cleaning. I travel frequently for business and enjoy dropping off large loads of shirts and pants once every 3-4 weeks. I used Advanced Cleaners for about 6 month, and have no complaints about they quality of their Dry Cleaning services. I asked if they would be able to press the roll tab sleeves on my military style shirts, to which I was given an immediate no. I offered to pay extra for custom ironing, but was still declined. If the press machine doesn't do it, neither will the store owners. This wasn't a huge deal, but I would have liked to see a little more accommodation for a customer with ~$100 drop-offs each month. What didn't sit well with me - and what prompted me to seek an alternative cleaner - was a comment one of the owners told me upon a drop-off. The comment went something like, "This is a lot of work for us to handle this many garments at once. Try to stop in every week or two weeks with less articles instead." As mentioned earlier I travel very often and stopping in every week (twice a week if you factor dropping off and picking up as two trips), or even every other week would be down right INCONVENIENT for me. I explained my scheduling situation to the owner, but was met with a dismissive attitude - if I wasn't able to accommodate the cleaner's schedule, that's my tough luck. They don't like handling my laundry the way I drop it off in large batches. Well, no problem Advanced Cleaners. I'm sure there are many other Dry Cleaners in Chicago that would be glad to take my laundry on MY schedule. read more

Convenient location. My clothes always look good. Owner knows my name and my garments by memory. Love that "Cheers" treatment. That said, it has its quirks: Won't negotiate pricing. Charged me a full coat on a half coat stating their is one standard price of $20. That's 25% of what my Guess coat cost. I need to negotiate it up front next time. =( Hem work was not as professional as my previous tailor who moved back to Korea. Wouldn't come back for that. Highlights: bad customer service, slow turnarounds. Mediocre for laundering/dry cleaning. Avoid alterations here at all costs. Details: I live a block this place so it was by default my dry cleaner when I moved to the neighborhood a year ago. I had almost no problems for the longest time with just the normal laundering/dry cleaning services. They did wreck the collar on one of my shirts, but they claimed it was like that when I brought it and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They aren't that fast on their turnarounds, but it's not really that big a deal to me. Then about a month ago, I was in there dropping some stuff off and they were arguing with a girl about something she'd gotten hemmed. She got fed up and just asked for a refund instead of having them fix it at no charge. They wouldn't do that. Anyways, I just went about my business. Then most recently, I took 3 pairs of pants in to get hemmed. The man pinned the back and I OK'd the length. When I picked them up and tried them on at home, they were all 1-2" too long. I took them back there and asked them to make the adjustment. First, they tried to tell me that the length looked good (right...). Then at some point they must have realized that they couldn't convince me of their error, so I tried them on and we agreed on the new length. That's when I found out they wanted to charge me again! I told them I'd like to collect everything I'd just dropped off. Time to find a new cleaner. read more

The husband and wife who run the shop are very professional, nice, and attentive and have a great turnaround time. The storefront is also very well-lit, bright, and clean. I go in to drop off my jackets, suits, shirts, and pants. They do a satisfactory job and I can't ask for more. I am done using this place. They shrunk my sweater and told me I gained weight and that's why its smaller. They also botched a jean alteration. Didn't make it nearly short enough and used black thread even though all the stitching was white. When I complained they claimed the thread was black. Total B.S. Then acted like they were doing me a favor by correcting it. I have no problem with mistakes, but take responsibility for them. Taking my business elsewhere. read more

This place is excellent. I haven't found a stain they can't clean yet. Their service is superior to the 4 other places in the neighborhood I've gone to and they're consistent. Clothes come back smelling clean, not like chemicals. In addition, they take extra care on things that others don't (e.g. - not pressing the buttons on your shirt so they don't crack.) Prices are a tiny bit higher for some things, but I believe you get what you pay for and the extra buck is worth it here. They write your name and their facility number in PERMANENT sharpie marker on your button down shirts and return clothes dirtier than when you brought them in. Ruined my light-colored jacket, and didn't even remove two MINOR stains. The jacket is completely faded in color. My black jacket, which didn't have any stains, but only required standard cleaning was returned to me COMPLETELY DIRTY. It smelled like dirty laundry. When I came to pick up my items, they had lost both of these jackets and I had to wait 10 minutes and look through their rack of clothes to find what was mine. The owner then DEMANDED that I pay for both items, even though they clearly couldn't clean any of them. I will be reporting this business to the appropriate agency. They carry zero responsibility for their actions and rip people off. read more

I took my winter coat here after the zipper broke and expected to get it back within a week. The helpful and kind people who work here went above and beyond for me! Not only were they friendly and informative, but they had my coat fixed in the SAME day after hearing that I bike around Chicago and can't live without my warmest coat. Also, I brought in my own replacement zipper, which turned out to be too long. They didn't complain at all and made it work. It is an honor and privilege to bestow my highest recommendation for Advanced Cleaners on Western Ave, on the northeast corner of Wabansia. They change a fair price, and the quality of the cleaning is always of the highest quality. Much more so than other cleaners I have patronized at previous residences. The quality of the work is what merits the five star review, as many of my clothing articles look and feel just as good as when they were new, through multiple rounds of dry cleaning. I have been a regular customer here for over seven years. I am not certain of the esoteric details of the cleaning processes Advanced Cleaners utilizes, but it does cost a bit more than some their neighboring competitors. However, this process appears to treat fabrics in gentler manner, as even my cheap shirts and suits we not tarnished after multiple rounds of necessary cleaning over the course of any given year. Advanced Cleaners has helped me with regular cleaning of my menswear, as well as alterations for my clothing for all seasons. I trust them with bi-annual jobs to such as tablecloths, duvets, and covers too. A singularly exceptional experience was when, I brought them a job which seem insurmountable following a fire damage in my home. They set clear expectations that the job might not be complete as desired. With great surprise, the articles turned out in immaculate condition as if they had never been damaged. During the seven years of regular visits, they have never once misplaced or damaged an item of from one of my orders. Orders have always been ready on time, or even early when I have turned up unannounced the day before the due date. This superior service became apparent after developing rapport and trust with the proprietors, a husband and wife of Korean descent, through friendly conversation during my visits to their shop. I'm not sure why a gaggle of women have had taken time to share a lousy experience, but perhaps it lines in their expectations. Unhappiness is rooted in unmet expectations, and God only knows exactly what they wanted to achieve, and how they communicated during the interaction. I am very grateful to help Advanced Cleaners stay in business as they have helped me so much during the time I have resided on Western Ave. I could try and do all my cleaning, sewing, and ironing at home, so I am happy to pay them to help. I second this opinion. THIS IS THE WORST DRY CLEARNERS IN THE CITY!!!!! I asked that they fix my hem and dry clean. Not only did they not do the hem, they just pressed it to look like it had been done. When I finally wore them, the pant leg was ruined because of the dragging and they refused to re-clean the pants after fixing their obvious error. In addition to this, their customer service is extremely poor, and the woman working the desk hung up on me when I was trying to inquire about the pants. Was looking for a place that had same-day service, and they had it for $3.95. In by 9am, and I could have gotten it anytime after 3pm. That's hard to come by! Did a great job, and the service was friendly. The only thing that was weird was that she didn't give me a receipt, even after i asked for one.
