This is my go to cleaners in Lakeview. I brought my leather jacket and the price was better than nearby locations and she made sure to send it back to the cleaner when she noticed small things. She did a great job with cleaning my leather jacket and I'll go back to return it when it needs a cleaning. The lady is so sweet here and I've brought everything from cashmere sweaters, button downs to pants and I haven't been disappointed. read more

They are the best! The owner helped save an old very delicate shirt that was given to my fiancee by his father. It sat in the closet for years because he was afraid to take it anywhere for cleaning because of the delicate fabric. It really is irreplaceable. I was thrilled when they were able to clean the old stains and make it wearable again! read more

Lotus has been my go-to cleaners for the past 10 years while living in Chicago. Even after a moved a few miles from this location, I continued to take my dry-cleaning here (also got a few suits/pants tailored). Pricing, service, and promptness was always top notch. If I find someone half as good in the suburbs, I will consider it a win - will miss Hyan and Lotus Cleaners! read more

My two best coats became victims of a flood in our apartment (why they were on the floor, I do not remember). I brought them over here in the end of August and explained to them what happened. When I left the place, I realized that I accidentally left my boyfriend's linen laundry bag, which I used to hold both coats, with them. I was too busy to go back and retrieve it that day, so I figured I'd pick it up with my coats. Fast forward two months and some days. It has gotten cold enough for the need of a jacket, and until this point, I had completely forgotten that my best coats were at the cleaners. Upon realizing it, I was so convinced that they had gotten rid of my items, as most cleaners do that after 30 days. I walked in, was greeted by a cute little dog, and sheepishly handed the owner my receipt. She looked at me and said, "Oh, you're the one whose apartment flooded! Hold on, let me get your things." I was so surprised. Not only they still had my stuff, they still remembered me after two months. It's very clear that they get a lot of business (judging on the number of customers walking in and out all day and the fact that the place is packed with dry cleaned suits, blankets, dresses, etc.), so it's not like I was their only customer. She handed me my two coats... and the linen laundry bag, neatly folded and on its own hanger! I apologized profusely for not coming back sooner, and she just shrugged it off. "Don't worry about it. It happens." I'm really impressed (and very, very grateful that they didn't get rid of my coats), and I'll recommend them to all of my friends! read more

In a neighborhood packed to the treetops with dry cleaners, we rolled the dice and tried Lotus first. I don't think we'll ever go anywhere else. They offer all the services we could want: dry cleaning, alterations, AND laundry wash & fold (and more). Prices are reasonable - $1 a pound for my laundry? For not having to use my building's dank and ancient laundry facilities? For not having to scrounge for quarters? For not even having to fold my own undies? Sold! The service is really friendly, too. The apparent owner is chatty, remembered me and my fiance after our first visit, and has a sassy little dog named Dharmon (the male version of Dharma, she explained) who brings me toys to play with. To top it all off, they're open until 7:30 on weekdays, allowing me to pick up my clothes after work while still heeding the inspirational quote taped in Lotus' window (I paraphrase): "Take your time today - the life you improve may be your own!" That plus the neon lotus flower sign (and not forgetting sassy Dharmon) = cute. Cute friendly convenient affordable cleaners. Who could ask for anything more? read more

When it's all said and done, this is a pretty solid dry cleaning shop. They are quick, they get the job done right, and they are pretty cheap. Bonus points for letting you use a credit/debit card, if it's over $10. However, call me paranoid, but the reason I have to knock off some stars is because I have it in my head that they are running a "collar stay" scam. They do have a sign up front that says to take the collar stays out of your shirt, so I guess technically it's my fault if I lose them, but come on! I don't know the dry cleaning process, but how can these things just fall out of my shirt so easily, and why doesn't this happen anywhere else?? They also SELL packages of collar stays at the front desk....coincidence?? Hmmm... When it's all said and done, take your collar stays out, they will do a good job on your shirts at a reasonable price. read more

We have been going to Lotus steadily for 22 years, despite changing our neighborhoods several times, because of the consistent high quality of the service. And, despite what another reviewer said, THEY DID AN AMAZING JOB WITH OUR BEDDING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I have a much beloved jersey knit beige comforter from Anthropologie and I wouldn't trust anyone but Lotus Cleaners with the task of cleaning, and a few times repairing, this bedding. This is a truly great local business run by people who will rush the things you need quickly, put extra time into the things that need special care, and will even smile and ask about your day while doing it. read more

I've been going here for the past few years for my dry cleaning and laundry. Both the owner and other lady who work there are great!!! Super friendly and helpful.....and always there when you need them....or when you need to remove a stain. Unfortunately I am moving out of the neighborhood so will no longer be able to go here -- but highly recommend them. Going to miss seeing them and the little dog every morning as I pass by....but I'll visit if I'm in the area and my shirt ever needs a quick fix :) read more

I cannot say enough good things about Lotus. The cleaning is impeccable. Efforts are made to ensure that all stains are removed and items are pressed according to one's preference. The customer service is outstanding. One example: the owner brought my dry cleaning to my car on a cold, snowy day when she saw that I had parked in front and was preparing to get my two small children out of the car to go inside. It was unexpected but very much appreciated. I have also have requested rush alterations, which have always been ready when needed and perfectly tailored. Lotus also has great hours to accommodate busy work schedules. Stated simply, Lotus is a great dry cleaner. I recently moved from Roscoe Village, but am keeping my business with Lotus! read more

I went there to get a hole in my jeans repaired. I've lived a block away for a while, but it was my first time going. I was prepared to give this place 2 stars. They told me it would be ready on a Monday afternoon. I came in that night and it wasn't. Now I understand things happen, and apparently the seamstress left sick that weekend. HOWEVER, I feel like as a cleaners, your business is built on having things ready when you say. So since they didn't meet that, I feel like they should have offered me something as amends. A discount on this garment, or a coupon for a future one. Something. But it was just "oh. sorry. come back tomorrow" They did earn another star from me because of how great a job they did on my garment repair. I've had this done other places, and I've had a clear patch showing. This is seamless. Great service, and I'll probably give them a chance to improve my perception in the future. read more

I had a bridesmaid dress from J Crew that didn't fit me right, so I brought it Lotus to have it taken in. I put on my dress and the woman pinned me into it, explaining what would need to be done. She told me to pick it up in a week. I arrived a week later, my dress was taken in, cleaned, and pressed for the exact amount she quoted me. I took it home, tried it on and it fit perfectly. Overall, I'm really happy with their service and work, and I'll definitely use their services again in the future. read more

If we were ranking on pure convenience, this would be a 5-star joint. Plus, they got a stain out of a shirt I had given up hope on and just wore with a sweater over in hopes no one would notice it. I also love the same day service. The prices are probably a little high, but right on the way to the brown line? It can't be beat. I've had a few hems fixed as well with good results. What am I going to do when Paulina opens up again and I never walk down this way anymore!?!? read more

Technically this place is really out of the way for me which makes the hours tough (and a tad expensive). But. I didn't feel anxious for once about getting something dry cleaned, I felt reassured by the nice woman at the counter (and adorable dog) that the torn lining in my coat would be fixed. They do a great job and you'd rather pay more for good results rather than a mangled coat or sweater. They're even surprised when I need time to pick something up instead of trying to get it early. So even if I have to rush after class to pick up my stuff, I feel excited about picking up my stuff instead of thinking about possible damages. read more

I love a neighborhood place that remembers you by name no matter how many customers they may have. The owner even comments on new haircuts and waves at me as I pass by on my way to the train! Aside from the friendly service, the cleaning is always done well and is ready whenever you need it at a good price. I've also had two very expensive items altered here and have not regretted my decision as they did an amazing job. The garments look like I bought them that way and the cost was more than reasonable. read more

Just started coming here a few weeks ago and I have been very happy. Their prices are competitive and the service is solid. I have only done my shirts and dress pants, so limited on what I can say, it's a dry cleaners! read more

The only reason I don't give one star is that I appreciated the same day service that I so needed. This place gets two stars because there was a subtle wrinkle in the coat of my 2-piece suit, and my shirts did not have the appropriate creases. Also, I noticed after picking up the clothes that half of a cuff button had been broken off, which I had not remembered seeing before (and I had worn the shirt quite recently). There is a very conspicuous sign at the door warning you to check if there are any problems *before* you leave the premises. While I was checking my clothes, one of the employees spoke to me in a way as if to discourage me from doing so. read more

Hyan is awesome! I have now been to this cleaners twice in the past month to get 2 pairs of pants hemmed, and they turned out perfectly! Hyan was really quick, and took her time to make sure I was satisfied with the length. I am writing my first Yelp review ever because this place really made an impression on me!!.. The 5 stars is given to the lady who helped me out because of her honesty, professionalism, and going above and beyond to help. (I think she was the owner, her business card has the name Unhui Karall) Walked in to Lotus about 2 weeks ago with a new dress that I had found at a huge discount ( from $600 to $109 !!) because of some sort of grease/ dirt stain all the way at the bottom. The dress was for an elaborate Indian wedding that I was going to 2 days later, and I had found the dress after scouring 2 cities .. Chicago and Milwaukee.. finally at the last minute and fell in love with it.. It was perfect, except for the stain. I showed the dress to Unhui, and she inspected it, then looked at the care instructions and broke the news to me that although it says "professional dry clean only" it also says "Do Not Use Perch Solvent" (Perch being short for a very long chemical word) .. She told me that it is the main solvent that all dry cleaners use, and the one that she uses, so she wouldn't be able to dry clean the dress. I felt so dejected .. now what? How do I clean a dress that says dry clean only but is un drycleanable ? The dress, by the way is 100% silk and has like 3 different layers of material, the top layer is very obviously delicate. She must have seen the sadness on my face when I said "So what do I do??" She said to me.. "Come on follow me.. We'll go in back and try to get this out" I follow her into the back room and she has me hold the dress up while she gently rinses and cleans the spot off with some good old soap and water... I made a comment to her about how I appreciated her honesty for telling me that she couldn't dry clean the whole dress properly without ruining it. I think a lot of places would have just taken it and said they could do it and then I would have had no dress left. She responded " Shiiiiiiiiit, are you kidding me? I would never do that to my customers".. haha she's funny too. I just smiled. She brings the dress back up front and while I waited by the counter, did something else with it, to dry it or iron it or something. She brought it back up front, hung it on one of her hangers, shows me that the stain is completely gone and then wraps it in plastic and hands it to me.. I ask her how much and she says "nothing, don't worry" I tried handing her $9 , the only cash I had on me and she kept pusing it away from me saying "no its ok its ok" .. Finally I was able to get her to take the money and I left with her card. There are not many places out there that are so honest and seem to care so much and the whole experience made my day and took a huge weight off my shoulders... I will definitely be traveling the extra distance (Lotus is pretty far from my place) to bring her my business in the future, I feel like I can trust this place, and as far as cleaners go, and in the city of Chicago... that means a lot!! read more

Owner is so friendly and knows everyone by name. Right next to the Addison Brown Line stop. Her dog is so cute, too! Great job on cleaning as well as alterations! read more

I'm rating this based on their wash and fold service. I think it sucks, sucks bad. First, they look at their queue of laundry, and say is 2 days away ok? Then they say they only have 1 washer. Hint: maybe it's in your business interests to get another washer. A laundromat/wash and fold just went out of business on Irving Park, so I'll cut them a little slack for that. I did give them 1 star after all. That's better than no stars. But seriously, finally, after just putting on my apparently washed shirt and cotton sweater, I have to ask, did you know you're supposed to add laundry detergent to a wash? read more

DO NOT CLEAN BEDDING HERE. Only reason I am giving 1 star is because you have to. I am so disappointed to even have to write this review. I wanted this to be my cleaners since we just moved here and they have great reviews. My experience was TERRIBLE. I dropped my comforter off on a Monday, they said it would be ready by Thursday. Thursday they called, it wasn't ready. Then it wasn't ready Friday or Saturday either. They are closed on Sunday. Today is TUESDAY of the following week and I can finally pick it up. Only to have them tell me there is a stain on it that they couldn't get out. Let me just tell you that there was NOT a stain when I first took it there. When I asked if there was a discount for it taking 5 days past the promise date the woman argued with me and basically said it wasn't her fault. I was sweet and polite throughout this entire ordeal but when she blamed ME for the issues they had I was livid. All I wanted was an apology and a few bucks off the $64 I was charged. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I work for a company that prides itself on the outstanding customer service we provide so I was mortified by this experience. Needless to say I will not be back to lotus cleaners- regardless of how close it is to the L and to my apartment. read more

From its dry cleaning, to wash and fold, to alteration services, everything Lotus does is great. The prices are reasonable, and they are so accommodating-- when the nearby Addison El stop closed this past year they changed their hours to make it more convenient for their customers. How nice is that? Also, Lotus totally defines service with a smile. The owner is so nice and I really appreciate that she always remembers my name. read more

Amazing! Lotus cleaners saved my new dress. I had an expensive new dress that I took to another cleaner because I had a large wine stain on it. These lesser cleaners not only didn't get the stain out, but gave it back with large dark stains from smearing the fabric's printed pattern! I explained this to the lady at Lotus, she was thorough and honest and said there was a 50/50 chance she could fix it. Got it back today and ALL the stains are gone! Also very affordable. 3 men's shirts, a silk tie, a vest, slacks, two sweaters, and a dress for $38, including special stain treatment for 2 items. I'm not trusting any other cleaners but this one! read more

This is the easiest review to write... One word describes them... AWESOME! They do it all to perfection. The owner and her staff are the best. I had been going there for over 15 years and recently moved to the suburbs. However, all other cleaners in my new area were not even close to how good these guys are. I now bring my clothes back to the city since I know nobody does it better. Please open a location in Deerfield! Yelp only goes to five stars, but these guys deserve at least ten! They are AWESOME! read more

Hello to Yelp, I wish that there was another five stars for the service that I was provided. Hyun (sp? hope it is correct) was not only polite but super tolerant of the fact that she had to wait for me to pick it up due to a medical emergency with the gentleman I care for. I seriously have never experienced more amazing service than this. Please call if I can make it any more clear. 312 508 8867 If there's an issue with my review I can certainly throw all of my newly clean garments in a dirty mosquito infested puddle of DON'T and re write this. I did use you as my cleaner for a few months until you messed up a basic fallen hem. All I wanted was for you to fix a fallen hem on a dress with a straight bottom, would've done it myself if I had a surger (for all you sewing savvy people out there). You incorrectly fixed it so that it was sewn slightly crooked all the way around. Maybe it was subtle and you thought I wouldn't notice, but I did. I picked it up within the hour before my birthday dinner at Charlie Trotters and actually wore it, knowing that the hem would be hidden underneath the table all night. My bad for thinking you would be able to complete this simple request. I usually don't assume that I will need to bring things back to the cleaners for revisions on the original task. I was new to the 'hood at the time and was cleaner shopping, but one strike and you're out. read more

This review is strictly regarding the alterations I've had done here. I've never used their dry cleaning or laundry services, but I'd trust my stuff with them for sure. I have a difficult-to-fit body when it comes to jeans, but I just recently bought two pairs of jeans I liked well enough and that fit me adequately, but not perfectly. A common occurence for me is the "back gap", which is basically where there is a considerable space between my back and the jeans - has to do with having an ample ass. A belt remedies this issue somewhat, but I don't always want to wear a belt and a belt doesn't usually let the jeans lie flat - they get kind of bunchy - not my favorite look. Unless you've experienced this, it's kind of hard to explain. Just trust me, it's irritating! In any event, I decided to take a chance and have the fine folks at Lotus alter the waist of said ill-fitting jeans. I figured it was worth a shot. I took the jeans in on Saturday and was told they'd be ready to pick up on Thursday. We did a quick fitting to get the proper measurements and then I was on my way. I went in today to pick up my jeans. I ran home as fast as I could to try on my newly altered jeans and all I can say is HOLY CRAP...it's like these jeans were made just for my body...okay, so they kind of were! It was amazing. I was nervous about letting them cut into my newly purchased jeans, but I couldn't be more excited. I'll be taking the other pair in for alterations this weekend. I will say the cost is considerable - $35 for denim - but for me, it's totally worth it. I got a great deal on the jeans and paying another $70 to have them fit me like a glove is not a big deal for me. I could have easily paid that same amount (or more) for some pair of designer jeans that still didn't fit me right so for me, this is a no-brainer. If you need alterations done, I would definitely recommend Lotus. I've had my pants shortened and now taken in at the waist and I've been ecstatic about all of the results. I wish I would have done this years ago! The "back gap" has been a nemisis of mine for quite some time. I'm so happy those days are over. Who knew I could be so pumped up about alterations? It's the little things, people! read more

I will never do my own laundry ever again after having gone here (and not just because I moved into a building with no washer or dryer). I just moved into the neighborhood and haven't been able to find a laundromat, so I took my clothes to Lotus Cleaners for their wash and fold service. The service was so amazing that I had to blog about it. The excerpt: "...then I discovered that there is a nearby dry clearners that will wash and fold my clothing for a dollar a pound. It is on my way to the El, which means that I can walk my dirty clothes over in the morning, go to work, and come back home to receive a bundle of freshly washed and folded clothes. This might just be the greatest thing ever. I just got back all of my clothing and found it not only washed and folded but perfectly softened and bleached. I swear that my whites are whiter than they had ever been before, and all of my clothing suddenly feels like it was made out of cashmere or maybe heaven. Does this fantastic service exist everywhere? I paid $13 for three weeks of laundry, which is more than I would pay at a laundromat (although I hear that many laundromats now charge $2-$3 a load!), but is so much cheaper than things like fine chocolates which can only provide a fraction of the satisfaction of receiving clothes made out of heaven. I think I'm in love." I wound up having a turn-around time of less than 24 hours, but they said that at busy times it could take two days. Anyway, it's amazing and I couldn't recommend them more. read more

I came to Lotus after a friend recommended them for bridesmaid dress alterations. Very satisfied. The tailor had to bring in the top of the dress a lot, and it had complicated rouging. I had to come in three times total - once for pinning, once to make sure the top fit correctly, and then one last time to pick up the dress after she took up the hem. Total was $90. A friend who is also in the wedding had to get very similar alterations in Naperville, and it cost $125, so Lotus was a bargain. read more

I am writing a review on the owner and helper at Lotus cleaners. The owner helped me to look for my cat when he escaped from his carrier and was the first to suggest putting a poster in her window.
