took in a white button down specifically to clean the armpit area which had mild staining from normal sweat; asked them to launder and that this is what i was looking to take care of. they looked at it, said ok, and took it no questions. went to pick up the other day and noticed the shirt was generally clean but the stains were exactly the same as before. i also noticed an extra little small black stain near the front so i walked back in to confirm if it was cleaned properly and if the stain was looked at. they proceeded to now become harder to understand and seemed confused (ostensibly due to poor english, though this wasn't an issue at all when i went in to drop off my shirt) -- and then the lady said they can never take those stains off. which, leads me to wonder, then why take the shirt when i said this is the reason i am bringing it in. and then i asked about the other stain i noticed and the guy just proceeded to like tap the shirt with a lint roller a few times which just kinda smudged the little black stain more into the shirt. ‍ at the end of the day it was only $4, but it's annoying to come into a place and be clear with a specific need to get charged for that need not being addressed at all. and i don't appreciate the low-level gaslighting with the language barrier only when something goes wrong, but perfect english when they take your shirt/money. read more

Not only are their alterations always what I need, their friendly attitude and hard work ethic make me coming back every time. They also always seem happy to see me, which goes a long way in customer service! The dry cleaners business is quite competitive in the Lakeview area, and I have found them trustworthy and built a good relationship. We had to "migrate" to this cleaners when our old one closed. We had no problem with our former cleaners, but I guess we didn't know what we were missing. A Plus has personal customer service, remembers me when I come in, never misses a deadline, consistently delivers well pressed/cleaned clothes and their hem work is spot on. Absolutely horrible! I took my winter coat here to get a sleeve repaired. They repaired the sleeve but they also cleaned my coat and it shrunk! I DID NOT tell them to clean my coat! I spent almost $200 on my coat and now I can't wear it. read more

My partner and I love this dry cleaner. We recently moved away from Chicago and we really miss them. We went here for two and a half years and we always had a positive experience. They are always fast, they do a great job with cleaning our pants and blazers, and they are super friendly. They always remembered us and greeted us (and our dog) with enthusiasm. They helped my partner with tailoring some of her clothing as well, working with her until everything fit the way she wanted. The prices are reasonable and their hours make it easy to go before or after work. I also like that they reuse hangers if you bring them in, instead of throwing them out. We felt a need to write a review after moving to a new city and being disappointed with the dry cleaning services here. If only they were as good as A Plus Cleaners! read more

I've always had great luck here. After going to that grouch over next to Scooters (who way overcharges), A+ is a godsend. They get your stuff done quickly and always precisely how you want it. I usually bring here both clothes from places like Banana Republic to be fitted and thrift store clothes that could be salvaged into nice clothing if given a little TLC. They are honest and tell you if they don't think they could work it (like a blazer and a suit I brought recently - going to try a custom tailor). But they've done everything for me from completely replacing the inside of a used J. Crew leather jacket to hemming jeans to sewing buttons to fixing holes in shirts to ties dry cleaned, etc. And all at a reasonable price. If I had a really expensive suit that needed more alterations than just pant length or sleeve length, I might take it elsewhere. But with everything else, I trust A+. I have mixed feelings about this place. This review is only for this business' alterations, not for their dry cleaning services. I brought a dress here a couple weeks before I needed it to have it altered. I asked if that was enough time, and they said no problem - it would be ready 3 days before I needed it. Great news. I went into the little curtained changing room to put the dress on and show them what I wanted done. Clearly, the dress was too big and definitely waaaay to low for a bridesmaid dress. I asked if it would be possible to shorten the dress some, and use that fabric to sew into the deep V of the top. No problem, I was told. Again, great. I take off the dress and bring it to the counter, credit card in hand. The woman who I had been working with told the man at the register (in a foreign language) what I wanted done. I asked him how much it would be, and he said they would tell me when I picked up the dress. Ummmm, that seemed a little strange. Why couldn't they tell me the price up front? I was told the woman who prices out the seamstress work wasn't there, and she was the only one who could tell me how much it would be. I had limited time available, that dress needed to be fixed, and i had read all the great reviews on yelp that their prices were reasonable, so I said OK and was told to pick it up in a week and a half. I worked late on the night the dress was ready to be picked up, so I asked my husband to go. He got it, paid the $30 I was charged, and brought it home. I didn't have a chance to look at it until the next day, and when I tried on the dress, I was disappointed. While the dress had been shortened, the dress now hung oddly on me at the bottom, like it was sewed incorrectly. I could live with that. The part that upset me was the piece they sewed to the top. Or should I say, the part they snapped into the top. Yep, instead of sewing the patch flush against the top V part of the dress, they attached the piece of fabric with snaps! 2 snaps to be exact, so the bottom part of the patch wasn't connected. The whole day I wore that dress, the top gave me nothing but problems from rolling and not staying flat to one of the snaps opening repeatedly. Maybe she didn't understand what I was saying, but I am just not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I repeatedly asked for the piece to be "sewed" in. How is that unclear? My guess is this place is great for simple alterations (shortening pants, etc.), but not great for the more extensive fixes. I would try this place again, as it was reasonably priced, but I'd stick with a basic alteration. read more

We've been customers at A+ Cleaners for about three years now. We used to live walking distance from this little shop and appreciated it's convenience. As we got to know the owners and became "regulars," we were impressed with their customer service - from our third visit, the owner knew who I was as soon as I walked in the door and was scurrying to the back to retrieve our clothes and she always remembers our shirt laundering preferences (no starch for the hubby, light starch for me). And, they always fix little things for us (missing buttons, repairing small tears, etc), no charge. I've also had a number of pants hemmed here - including jeans - and they do a great job (kept the original hem on the jeans and you'd never know they were hemmed)! I've been going to this cleaners for five years. Whenever I've lived in a city, I've never stuck with the cleaners closest to me. But in this case, I lucked out--so much so that if I ever move to another neighborhood in Chicago, the thing I might miss most is living close to this cleaners. And I'd drive back just for the great customer service. The owners are always friendly, always attentive, and knew my name (without my phone number) after about the fourth time I visited. They'e hemmed or repaired probably a dozen clothes for me so far, and each time I've been pleased with the results. Even better, I've left their store wondering whether they'd charged me enough for all the work that they had done. Their prices are more than fair, and they do their best to work as quickly as you need them to, whether for same-day cleaning or to make sure your mom never knows that the sweater she gave you last Christmas was already falling apart at the seams. After walking in simply to repair a missing button from a wool coat, they not only repaired this, but found other matching buttons to repair my OTHER missing buttons. I work from home and do very little dry cleaning. So I'm here maybe quarterly. Yet the woman knows who I am. I walk in and she starts typing in my number to print the receipt. How does she know this? I can see that she's looking at some kind of directory beneath the counter but I don't give her my name and she finds me quickly. Well, let's say they shrank THREE of my sweater and one of my blouse came back dirtier , kind of yellowish! Well since then I have switched to CD price cleaner on ashland! I've been using A Plus Cleaners for years, and there is a reason I keep coming back. A) They make me look good, B) They are dependable. C) They are always pleasant. It also helps that there is a fire hydrant right in front where I can conveniently park for about 60 seconds on a busy piece of Lincoln Ave. Once, I was picking up some laundry for a trip out of town. I had to leave for the airport immediately but my clothes were not ready. They told me to go home and pack and they would drop the laundry off in about 20 minutes. I heard a knock at the door and there was a smiling face with all my laundry for the trip, at no extra charge. Long story short: All 5 buttons from my jacket had been torn off at the cleaners. Somehow, they failed to tell me that when I picked up the jacket and had to go back in the next day and inquire. Basically, the buttons are gone, no refund, no apology, no explanation. The coat is essentially unusable until I go buy new buttons and sew them on (and these were antique-style buttons)... I would avoid this place unless you want to risk your clothes. read more
