This is a wonderful neighborhood business that I will always support! Great service and owners and affordable. They remember my name even though I don't go in that often and in many cases I have been impressed with their level of service. I once left some money (bills) in my coat pocket which fell into the lining of the coat because the pocket was torn - they noticed this immediately and gave the $ back to me when I picked it up. Another time I asked if they could help repair a tear in a dress, and the lady at the counter fixed it right then without charging me. I was a patron here for a couple of years. "Ann" was never particularly friendly and always seemed a little stressed/overworked, but her service was always fast, high quality and reliable. So why 2 stars? Well, about 8 months ago one of my shirts went missing. When confronted, she immediately deflected any blame. It was a run-of-the-mill, easily replaceable work shirt so I sort of dismissed it as "things happen" and remained a loyal customer... That is, until two more shirts went missing. This time when I confronted her, she huffed told me I should look for them at home, to which I responded, "I already did, but okay I'll look one more time just to be sure". When I came back she immediately had attitude at seeing me walk in (audible sighing and eye rolling), and when I confirmed with her that my shirts were indeed missing, there was no response - no offer to refund the service, the shirts, nothing. It should be noted, I was never rude or demanding with her (quite the opposite, I'm overly-nice and extremely passive in retail environments). I hate any type of confrontation, so I simply haven't been back since. It's a shame because it's the closest dry cleaners to me, and the other dry cleaners in this neighborhood are subpar. Now I have to go out of my way just to patron a dry cleaner that doesn't lose my clothes. read more

We've been getting our clothes cleaned & altered here for over 5 years. Alterations have always been perfect & clothes come back clean & crisp. Prices are reasonable. Everyone is very friendly & they love to see kids. We moved away from the neighborhood but drive out of the way to go here. Highly recommended. read more

I have no idea how long this place has been here or why I haven't been aware of it sooner because it is around the corner from my damn house. If I have to take more than 100 steps to get there it's because I broke my leg. That's how close it is. And as a first time customer, she wanted to give me 20% off my total, and then decided that wasn't enough and ended up giving me $20 off my total. Currently kicking myself for going anywhere else. Ann's Dry Cleaners is one of my favorite dry cleaners in the neighborhood. She is great and always remembers my name. Great place in a great neighborhood. The only downside...which goes for almost all dry cleaners, is why are you not open on Sunday? Close one day during the week and open Sunday...Sometimes getting to your store before COB is a challenge. read more

Until today I have had nothing but positive, 5+ experiences at Ann Cleaner. I first started bringing my dry cleaning here at the end of 2014 when I moved to Lincoln Square (although they have no record of me having come in before - sloppy accounting). I had such good service that I continued bringing my items when I moved a little east to Andersonville. Consistently good, friendly service without so much of a missing button - let alone damage to a garment (like you hear/read about at other dry cleaners on the north side). This evening, I went to pick up my clothing and one of my nicest shirts had multiple bleach stains over it. The shirt is ruined. To their credit, the shop keeper pointed it out to me. With that said, the shirt did not have such stains prior to me dropping it off - namely as I had worn it same day, and I am a little anal retentive about looking over each garment prior to dropping off. My dress clothes are only dry cleaned (never laundered), and I have no bleach in my apartment. I informed her of such and no satisfaction was offered or made. I am left with a ruined $90 dress shirt. Having read numerous other reviews of dry cleaners in Chicago, this is not unusual. But it is disappointing. I believe in second chances, but I am once again looking for a new dry cleaners in Lincoln Square/Andersonville area. I do not have any advice, other than to photograph each garment with a visible time stamp prior to taking clothing to the cleaners. read more

Yikes! No customer service here. I brought in a sofa cover to be cleaned. At the time that I handed it over, I was advised that there was some color variation on the cover and that dry-cleaning would be the safest method of cleaning. When I picked it up a few days later and put it on my couch, I found tears in the sofa cover that were not there before I handed it over (who would hand over a damaged couch cover for cleaning?!?!) and a brown stain that was not removed during cleaning. I called the owner and brought the cover back in. She insisted that she mentioned this damage to me before I had the cover cleaned. This is an out-and-out lie. She offered to sew the tears in the fabric (on the lining and up the side of the arm of the cover), but she would not refund my money for the cleaning. Then I said I wanted her both to repair the cover and refund my money because her machines were responsible for the damage. But she just kept asking me how old the couch cover was and refused to do both. My options were to take the refund and the damaged products (a stained cushion and damaged couch cover) or have her do the repairs and keep the money. I took the money and left with my damaged goods. I definitely think you should stay away from this place! As far as I can tell, the policy here seems to be the following: We can't guarantee stain removal and we may damage your items. Please don't expect us to make this right by refunding your money or repairing your items. Have a nice day. read more

Ann had my name memorized after one visit. She always remembers that I have stuff to pick up, even when I don't! She's turned around super quick alterations for me, too. Never lost anything, never damaged anything, and she has never once given me grief about using a credit card, even for a small amount (who carries cash anymore?). Great local gem in our area. Last week I brought her a white silk taffeta dress that I designed and sewed and had worn to the Emmy's. Someone had spilled red wine onto it there and I was highly perturbed and desperate to have that stain gone! THEY. DID. IT. Thrilled!! In addition, she was patient and consulted me on some alteration work that I could not do myself due to illness. I will never go anywhere else for dry cleaning in this city. DO. IT! :) read more

After having so many bad experiences with different dry cleaners, (ruining garments and/or overcharging) this is the only place I will go. I found them when I initially moved to Chicago and could walk, and continue to go back even though I have since moved several miles away. The biggest dilemma of any bride who has a stain on her dress, where should I send this to be dry cleaned, and can I trust the place not to ruin my dress. I found that Ann Cleaners accomplished both. The dress was spotless when it was returned, and it was returned in a timely manner. As for cost, it was resonable, and worth it.
