Shawarma Time is one of the few places in the PNW that makes chicken shawarma sandwiches in the…read moretraditional Lebanese-style - with bread, toum, chicken, and pickles. No tomato. No lettuce. No cucumber, no other filler like all the "Mediterranean" Middle-Eastern/Greek fusion restaurants that permeate the area. As an additional sign of authenticity - they serve complementary warm sweet black tea! I believe they also only serve bottle water, which they charge for (it might surprise people, but this is yet another mark of authenticity). I've been looking for a place like this ever since moving here from Dearborn, MI! Walking in for a weekday lunch, I saw several people come in for takeout orders, but I was the only person eating in. Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($12.95) - This is a traditionally made chicken shawarma wrap, consisting of only chicken shawarma, pickles, and toum wrapped up in bread. The bread in this case is saj, a thin almost flour tortilla-like bread. It's not quite as pliable as a tortilla, instead enveloping all the ingredients in a warm coating. The menu lists this as "fresh baked" but that's definitely a misnomer. It's more factory produced, possibly weeks ago, given the heavy dough conditioner and preservative taste. The saj is what I disliked about this shawarma sandwich the most. They give a substantial portion of chicken, more than enough protein to satisfy. The seasoning blend they use is sublime, it's earthy and warm, savory and salty, and it brings me right back to Dearborn. The meat is freshly shaved off the spit with an electric shaver (rather than by knife as the traditionalists would do it). It's not particularly moist, but isn't dried out either. They don't add enough toum in the sandwich to overcome this deficiency - it's applied in a thin layer that's barely noticeable inside. Luckily they serve a small cup of toum on the side that's enough for the sandwich - if only they added it inside instead of being essentially a dip! The toum itself is a higher tier one for my tastes. It's heavily garlicky, almost having a pungent sweaty kind of aroma. There doesn't seem to be too much filler at all inside, and while the spiciness is tempered, the garlic is full flavored. The consistency more resembles a paste than a sauce - my preference is to be even more paste-like than this, but the toum here is still great. There are a couple of pickles inside giving some acidity and a slightly crisp bite. Again, they don't add too much of it - I'm actually used to more pickle and less meat in shawarma sandwiches. The entire wrap is pressed and warmed, enough to get some of the saj to develop a crackly crispy edge. The sandwich is served with a couple of olives and two strange orange colored pickles. Super salty and slightly acidic, but somewhat floppy. (5/5) Shawarma Time serves some of the most authentic shawarma that I've found in the Seattle Metro. People who are used to Mediterranean Gyro-fusion shawarma might not enjoy the kind of service and amenities Shawarma Time provides, but for me, I'll definitely be visiting again for more. We ordered a few different plates, but my boyfriend and I tried the garlic naan, butter masala w chicken, and aloo gobi. The food was good, but not amazing. I really enjoy the aloo gobi at another restaurant in Issaquah but I was not a huge fan of it here, same with the butter chicken. They were both just okay and definitely edible, they just didn't stand out to me. The garlic naan was yummy though! We also tried the mango lemonade but had to water it down a bit as it was super sweet. It's in a cute area with lots of parking in garages nearby!

On their own, neither component was particularly memorable. The chicken was quite dry, while the hummus had a somewhat processed taste. However, combining the two helped balance the dish: the hummus added moisture to the chicken, and the chicken softened the hummus's overpowering flavor. I liked the concept of the bowl and appreciate the creativity behind it, but the execution fell short for me. Unfortunately, I would not return.

They have a surprisingly large selection, whether you're looking for meat, vegetarian, or vegan options. Even the sauces come with several choices, which I appreciated. The service really made the visit memorable. The staff took the time to chat with me and my daughters, and they patiently walked us through the menu instead of rushing us. I ordered the falafel, and they explained that it's made fresh every day, even describing how they prepare it. They also asked if I had any food allergies and went over all of the available toppings and options, which showed they genuinely cared about getting the order right. One thing that really surprised me was the variety of falafel choices. I've eaten at more gyro places than I can count, and this was the first time I'd seen multiple falafel options instead of just one standard version. It was a nice touch and something that made the restaurant stand out. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and has plenty of seating. Since it's in a shopping plaza, parking wasn't an issue either. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the background music was at just the right volume, you could actually enjoy a conversation without having to raise your voice. Overall, this was a great first experience. Between the friendly service, fresh food, and the attention they gave to explaining everything, it's easy to see why people come back. Next time I'm planning to try one of their meat dishes because everything looked excellent. If you're in the Lynnwood/Bothell area and are looking for a good gyro spot, I'd definitely recommend giving Gyro Stop a try.

While not dry, taking bits of the tzatziki sauce with the rice and meat helps add a juicy flavor and texture. On the side is a hearty Greek salad that has a similar effect, the vegetables are super fresh and help the rest of the plate taste juicier plus adds a nice crunch on the lettuce. Overall, it's an above average plate with high quality ingredients, but not extraordinary compared to many spots here.

Today, I noticed there were new faces at the counter, and I'm not sure if there was a staff turnover. I truly hope this won't affect the service and, most importantly, the quality of the food because that's one of the reasons I keep coming back. My scheduled pickup time today was 11:10 AM. I arrived at 11:00 AM and even brought back the same bag they provided with my previous order. There were already 3 people waiting. Unfortunately, by 11:15 AM, my order was still not ready -- this is now the second time this has happened. I understand that things can get busy, but pickup times matter, especially for customers who pre-order because they have somewhere to be. I had a work meeting to attend, which is why I placed my order ahead of time. My order was finally ready at 11:30 AM -- 20 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. This delay was the main reason for my 1-star review. I also noticed that the sauce portions have gotten smaller compared to before. I hope the team can take this feedback seriously because I really enjoy the food here and would like to continue supporting this place. I just hope the consistency in service, portions, and overall experience improves.
