The lentil soup they serve as an appetizer is delicious too, I'm obsessed! There's some room inside to dine in, and a couple tables outside for dining in nice weather. I have been going to their Bellevue location regularly for over 20 years. This is my first time at the Kirkland location. I knew the ambiance would be much different and it's a few dollars less. The difference is like- "date night ambiance" versus "strip mall fast food". You order at a counter, so it's fine for take out or pick up. The taste is very similar to the other location except I got 2 tiny, thin pieces of chicken, one of which burnt on the edges and the other overcooked and dry. I also got the smallest dollop of hummus I've ever seen at a Mediterranean restaurant. It tasted ok but was not a good deal with that little of (overcooked) chicken and hummus. Could be the staff was angry I only gave a few dollars for tip (which they want when you order)- but I ordered at the counter and bussed my own table. I do the same at McDonald's and don't tip. They brought me the food (4 steps from the counter) but that's it. So if you don't tip well up front they give you less food and burn it? read more

I highly recommend anyone wanting to try Lebanese/Mediterranean cuisine especially if you're looking for healthy food that your body will enjoy. Love the grilled veggies and the lentil soup that came with it. Wasn't a big fan of the crunchy celery chunks in the soup though. $3 for a small ketchup sized container of extra hummus is a rip off though. I would expect a larger portion for that much. read more

I love this place! My family has been going to get shish tawook for years and I love the falafel salad and usually get a side of dolmas as well. The owners are really wonderful and thoughtful and I love supporting such good people. I haven't tried the shish tawook since I'm a vegetarian, but everyone I know who has tried it has loved it and gone back many times for more. I love the falafel salad and it's gluten free! Super fresh, great ingredients, and a perfect garlicky sauce. Their food has large portions and great sides like hummus, naan, and a great lentil soup. The lentil soup comes free with every entree and is amazing! I've never dined in and don't know if I would, this food is perfect for takeout (even sitting in the car for a bit) and is best eaten around a dinner table at home. They do have limited outdoor seating, but the food does travel well and does well for takeout. Better than eating in a parking lot in my opinion. I'm excited to keep going back! read more

This is my once a week go to restaurant. I have eaten here or ordered to go, easily more than 300 times. I love everything on the menu especially the MK salad with chicken, the MK salad without chicken, and any of the chicken sandwiches. When ordering the salad always request an extra pita. You also have to buy the MK dressing to take home. It's great on your own salad at home or even on vegetables that you steam. Every time I make a dish for a group event using their salad dressing it is a total hit! Even though the prices aren't cheap, It's worth that because the ingredients are very fresh and the vegetables would take me an hour + to cut up if I was making the salad at home The best thing about this place other than the food is Zuri and his staff! I feel like a family member or friend , rather than a customer because I come in so often. They always take care of me and they're always smiling and happy when I come in. One time I inadvertently forgot my wallet at home and they were fine with me calling in as soon as I got back with the credit card number so they could accept payment. I can't tell you how much better that was than having to drive home and come back! It's three and a half years later and I'm still loving this place. I love how they maintain the quality and portion sides. I don't mind if they need to raise prices to handle inflation, just keep doing what you're doing and don't compromise. My go-to dishes these days are falafel plate and humus appetizer. There's a lot of lemon juice added, the main taste is just sourness. I love gyro but this is the first time I have such sour gyro plate. Even the hummus is sour, pita is not fresh. If you like really sour food, you may like it. But it's not for me. read more

I've been coming here for about 10 years to different locations, and I feel some recent decisions have really set this place back a little bit. I don't understand the justification to use plastic for everything if you're eating there, they used to give metal forks and spoons and put your soup into a bowl if you were eating there. Now you just get it in a plastic container with the lid on while eating there... The meat portion sizes have certainly gone down a little, but the prices are about the same, so a little bit of shrink inflation has occurred. Overall still a great taste and really like this place but some of these changes don't make a lot of sense. read more

I have been coming to Mediterranean Kitchen for the last fifteen years or so and it has always been my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the area. Unfortunately that has changed the last couple of times that we've been in. The food tastes different and the quality just isn't consistent. I always get the chicken schwarma or chicken salad. The portion sizes have gotten considerably smaller which I can understand but the food is also now too spicy. The chicken in the chicken schwarma was so spicy that my son couldn't eat it and the garlic sauce on the chicken salad was also extremely spicy. I have never had spicy chicken schwarma and it was really disappointing to spend so much on a meal that my son took one bite of and then had to spit out because it was unexpectedly spicy. read more

I saw the restaurant as I drove to my hotel. I thought I'd check it out. I saw the reviews and had to give it a try. I went inside and saw that all of the tables and chairs were stacked on top of each other and it was pretty dark. Apparently they still dont allow dine in. Ok, maybe is a Washington thing. This was my first day in town. I checked out the menu and decided on something traditional and basic. The beef shawarma platter. It comes with beef shawarma, rice, soup along with pita and hummus. I asked to substitute salad for the rice and also ordered an order of fried cauliflower. The order was fairly large and cost somewhere between $25-30. I asked if it came with any garlic sauce. The cashier told me that it didn't. I asked if I could have some on the side. She said, yes, that'll be an extra .85 cents. I was surprised that after I spent almost $30 on food plus gave a 20% tip on a to go order that they would sweat me for an extra .85 cents. If I go to a burger place they dont charge me for ketchup. Seemed a little petty to me, but ok, people made a big deal about it, so I paid for the garlic sauce. I paid for my order and it came up fairly quickly. I went back to my hotel and opened up the bag in anticipation of an amazing feast. I was a little confused by what I received. Ive eaten shawarma all over the country, also in the Middle East, and Ive never seen it served as a stir fry. The meat was stir fried with onions and bell peppers - probably some other stuff too, tossed into the container with sauce spread all over it. Had I received the wrong order?? Well it was too late since I was back at my hotel, so I dug into the food. I guess that's how they do their shawarma, completely non traditional. The meat wasn't bad, but I really wasn't impressed with the veggies mixed into it. The hummus that was on the plate was pretty good and so was the salad under the meat stir fry. The soup was ok, but was overly salty. When I started on the soup I thought it was some sort of chicken soup, but as I got to the bottom of the bowl it got really thick, like split pea. I still dont know what it was. The fried cauliflower was good. The sauce, maybe tahini, over the top was tasty - probably from a jar. As far as the garlic sauce, I didn't find it particularly garlicky or very tasty. What a total bummer!! I was looking forward to a great middle eastern meal. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wont be back. I was going to give them 3 stars initially, but then started thinking about the service as well as the food as I wrote this. No, not more than 2 stars. Pre-Covid, we would use the Bellevue Mediterranean Kitchen to cater our office lunch events frequently, and their food was always great. I knew they had multiple places, but did not realize they had one in Kirkland just a few miles from my house. LOL, I feel so dumb. It is in the Totem Lake area, in a strip mall on 124, next to the UPS store, across from the Azteca. Grabbed a Gyro salad, and it was great. The soup is excellent. The staff are wonderful. Food is justfine but not authentic enough for me. Covering everything in tzatziki sauce and feta doesn't cut it for me. The gyro plate would have been wonderful if the meat hadn't tasted like it had some kind of grain filler. The rice is generic yellow rice and not authentic outside of the US fast dining. The spanakopita could have been amazing if it wasn't greasy and cover in sauce. I want to taste the filling, not what's on top. If I were to go back I would get the falafel plate. The Kirkland outlet is smaller: you order from a counter and they give you your food in a styrofoam shell. The menu on display up on the board is smaller than the Bellevue menu or what the website says the menu is, but the food is extremely delicious. Algerian chicken (and now I can put Algeria on my list of countries I've had the putative food of) is pounded breast meat, reasonably tender, slightly crunchy in the cooking, and loaded with strong flavoring that is not very hot-spicy nor overwhelms the chicken. Negative side--Falafel tasted rancid--probably made at some point in the past and then kept refrigerated (not frozen) waiting to be reheated. Rancid-tasting food is not a recoverable error. Very disappointed. I have frequented this restaurant on numerous occasions. I order the Lamb Shawarma and got a plate full of rice and veggies and no lamb and they added beets.which I don't eat. After a log day of work and studying I very disappointed to find my dinner improperly done. They should be ashamed for this lazy service with full price charge to customers.
