This is the kind of joint you gotta love. It's brisk, snappy, fast service putting out solid Chinese takeaway. Lunch special under $10? Great value. Really good hour and sour soup. It's gonna be rich in cornstarch, egg and tofu. Not overly hot or sour but full of flavor. Roast pork/shrimp options are where it's at. I just love walking into a joint, seeing people deciding to eat their order right there. I ordered the lunch special today and got general tso chicken and chicken fried rice the taste was so fresh .and the size of the chicken inside the rice was nice .they give you nice pieces.of white meat chicken. And they are not cheap with there sauces like there duck sauce and soy sauce and hot mustard. The sauces are out for the customers use.they are unlimited I also ordered thai chili wings lunch special with chicken fried rice and vegetables. Really great taste so fresh. You can taste the chili on the wings very tasty and spicy you can taste the spiciness In the chicken. I have been to the great wall a few times before with my wife ,it is a small spot but you cant beat the quality of there food.and the lunch time specials are $7.35 with a free soda or a choice of a free soup. I wanted to try a different Chinese place in my area and decided on Great Wall. It's in a strip mall with a free parking lot in an area where parking is hard to come by. During Covid, there is outdoor seating for diners. They had the front desk covered but no hand sanitizer. The door was kept open on a balmy night so that felt safer. I ordered the beef chow fun and beef with string beans. They had all the packets of sauces for customers to take. When the order was ready I was told they made chicken with string beans by mistake. He confirmed it was white meat and I accepted. He was very cordial, which was pleasant. The beef chow fun was disappointing- some of the meat was fatty and inedible. The noodles, sauce and onions were fine. 2 stars The chicken with string beans was tasty and fresh, with a good sauce flavor. 4 stars So overall it was 3 stars. I probably wouldn't go back with so many other Chinese restaurants in the area I rate higher. But if I was driving by and wanted to pick something up, I would consider it. read more

Very dissatisfied. Great Wall would be more appropriately named Disgusting Wall. They did not give me what I ordered. What they prepared tastes terrible. I am throwing out the dish. The woman behind the counter does not listen. They were NOT busy. They are just in a rush to go home. She also did not give me a receipt. I called them as soon as I got home and tasted this crap and the phone rings and rings. No one picks up and there is no voice mail. I tried calling twice. They are already closed. Besides throwing out and wasting my money, now I am still hungry. It's a shame so many good businesses are closing during the Covid 19 Pandemic. And this poor excuse for a Chinese Take-Out is still open! Do not waste your time and money ordering from Great Wall. The Forest Hills community will be better served if they go out of business and someone else comes in who will appreciate the customers. I don't understand the bad reviews. I thought the food was really great. I loved the chicken with bean sprouts. It was well seasoned with ginger and peppers and not greasy. I nice healthy choice. My son ordered the Szechuan bean curd, which was a delicious vegan version of a Chinese dish that is usually made with pork. Highly recommend for a weekday alternative to cooking. It's a hole in the wall but the food here is surprisingly good and so are the prices. I live a couple blocks from here so I order from them all the time. My favorite dishes are the orange chicken, sesame chicken, general tso chicken, triple jade, mixed vegetables in white sauce, eggplant and beef, and the spare ribs. I've included the menu that came with my order though I've removed my contact information. I ordered a large Won-Ton soup, two eggrolls, Singapore Chow Mai Fun and Moo-Shu Chicken and upon delivery I ate some of everything and I got DIARRHEA; don't shake your head or go into denial-mode; I GOT DIARRHEA. The next day I finished the left-over Singapore Chow Mai fun and didn't get sick at all so obviously the problem has to be somewhere in the other three dishes. Obviously, from the number of people in your place I'm not the only one that feels this way; most customers will not bother confronting you with their getting sick, they'll just stop coming to your business. If I still get sick, I will then no longer patronize your restaurant, it's really that simple. I don't care that you get to post an "A" in your window and, by the way, I'm not necessarily going to complain about your place to the local health authorities but I am telling YOU but to be honest, complaining to the local health department will still be an option that will remain on the table. I do not get sick in my own kitchen so it is obvious that you're doing something very wrong in running your restaurant; if you don't know proper food handling procedures then I suggest you go into another business. One last thing; you may be doing everything right but there could be one employee that is deliberately sabotaging your efforts; if this might be so then get rid of this person; he's obviously wrecking your business. One of the best chinese take out : eggplant chicken over rice in the neighborhood. I've had their general tso chicken as well, and their wonton soups. It's super hard to find good take out places and I've been having Great Wall for the last 5 years, because my best friend lives down the block and we always get hungry after losing track of time playing video games. My wife and I ALWAYS get the L23 Lunch Special: Chicken with Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. I must have ordered it over twenty times now and haven't had the need to order anything else. It is tangy with a hint of spice and different flavors that I have yet to discover at another Chinese restaurant or in daily home cooking. I would love to learn that secret sauce, bottle it, and retire early from the killer sales it would create. I used to come here all the time when I was in Forest Hills. This has been my go-to Chinese restaurant because it's near me. It's nothing fancy, just fast food. But for what it is, it's good. Cheap, not bad quality, but reliable. I like the shrimp with black bean sauce and the moo shu is good and certainly bountiful.
