I remember some of my friends recommended this place to me many times, so one day they decided to take me there. We arrived at the spot and walked in. The staff is very friendly and the overall vibe of the restaurante is nice too. I order chicken something (I am writing this review 8 years later) I don't really remember, but it was tasty and adequate. The only issue I had when my friend was eating his meal across from me. He was eating what I remember to be mongololian beef. He happened to sneeze really hard and the food from his mouth exploded on to my face, chest and hands, unfortunately on my food too. I was stunned, I could not believe this was happening. I stood up to go get napkins, but as i turned he sneezed again and the food from his mouth once again exploded on the side of my body this time. I don't think the staff noticed what was going on (thank God). I have not returned to the Great Wall in years purely from the memories, but this place is very nice with friendly staff and good food. Nice clean restaurant. Principally focused on takeout with six additional tables inside I'm always in search of good Chinese food. Dumplings is one of the ways I measure a restaurant. I was excited to stop by for a snack in order the pan fried dumplings. I saw them take out frozen dumplings from a retail looking bag. I had already paid. I was crushed. Service was fast and friendly. 6 dumplings for $7.50. Not even average. Empty, flavorless. I'm feeling empty now. read more

Did an on line order while staying at a local hotel and the food was ready exactly on time! A solid take out experience with well prepared fresh food; we had shrimp spring rolls, fried dumplings, general tso's chick, pork lo mein and plain rice and all were good. The food was good but priced differently from what was on their Yelp, so call and ask before ordering. I ordered the cashew chicken, pork wonton, and shrimp eggroll. I've purchased takeout from Great Wall for years . My order is always the same two items ... each has been consistently good ... and today was no exception. The hot and sour soup is always loaded with strips of pork and other goodies. I love the broth with its almost delicate consistency ... not thick snd gravy-like which, sadly, seems to be the norm around Mt. P. My standard order ... a pint of the House Chow Mein (shrimp, pork and chicken) is custom ... steamed, with the sauce on the side ... and is always perfectly prepared. The container is filled tight ... bursting with the lean protein ... and it's heavy. Once dumped on the plate, the portion is plenty for two servings with rice. I love the chopped/sliced stir-fried onions, carrots and celery. Each piece is crisp and very fresh. After chowing down the pint of soup and two plates of the chow mein, I could barely manage to eat the fortune cookies, but, I'm glad I did ... I'm destined to win a big lottery very soon. I'm sorry that several yelpers have had less than satisfactory experiences at, or with, take out from Great Wall ... what can I say, I love it. read more

I rarely leave reviews except in exceptional situations...in this case, the service was exceptionally bad. We watched 10 to 12 others come and go while we waited for our food to be ready. It came out sporadically over a 45 minute period. Also, the chicken was heavily battered. If you don't mind bad service, the food was standard Chinese food. I'm vegan an I went to a wedding at 6pm with only breakfast in the stomach and the food at the wedding was only meat and no sides! So it should be said I didn't actually order from here. Someone from Uber eats brought the food all the way out to James Island where I live, and left it at my door. I initially felt bad, and we have it a couple of hours to see if anyone would come back to try and rectify it (I called the restaurant and they didn't have any details, and it didn't belong to any of my neighbors). I've never been so mad about having free food in my mouth. The soup was completely bland, the mei fun was a brick of gluey rice noodles, and the spring rolls were doughy somehow. My family and I have been getting take out from here for years and for the most part the food is always good. Not always perfect but most of the time we are very happy with it. Honestly I go in there so often they know me by name, I feel like Norm from Cheers. The only real issue we have is occasionally they have a woman answering the phone who really shouldn't. She doesn't know the menu that well and is quite rude. Twice she has made my wife so mad we didn't order anything. As long as she's not there, it's all good. Had Great Wall for dinner last night and was impressed. This is a straight forward Chinese place, they have everything you would expect on the menu and specialize in take out. That being said, I would chose Great Wall over Taste of China any day. My friend and I had the combination dinners which is a huge portion served with pork fried rice and egg roll. My sweet and sour chicken was delicious and I plan on eating the rest for lunch today. My friend had the general tsos chicken and was impressed that they honored his request to make it as spicy as possible (although he did complain about the quality of meat, which I didnt notice). You cant beat it for the price and everything I mean everything is ready in 10 minutes which is great with a 15 year old. We joke that if they catered a wedding 'it would be ready in 10min' We stick with the combo platters and for 8,95 you get a meal and a 1/2 or in my case two meals. When I arrived to pick up the food I immediately realized that I was in the dirtiest restaurant I've ever been to. Just walk in and look up at the ceiling and you will walk right back out.
