i used to buy from China Wok until Covid hit and the owner took over cooking....food went down hill; so we switched to KING CHEF 261 Treeland ave . Every was better there but this Sunday after discovering King Chef was closed ; we decided to try China Wok Again. BAD MOVE The fried chicken wings weren't just greasy , they were DRIPPING in OIL.. disgusting.... worst i had had. I also told him to drain the grease first ..Not Done The pancid i ordered was supposed to have noodles and vegetables. It was just about all noodles with a hint of carrots.. If I could give zero stars I would. First off, there is a HORRIBLE smell right outside the front door of this "restaurant". It smells like a dumpster. That should have been my first clue NOT to go in! I ordered the Hibachi Chicken and the total came t about $15. It was about 75% rice and 25% chicken. The chicken was chewy and fatty. When I first received the to go order, (because there isn't much ambiance to dine in) I did ask the cashier if that was the correct amout of chicken? She just pointed to the menu above the register and said something i couldn't understand. I have been told that Yang's Kitchen restaurant is the very best in Ladson. The price for the Hibabchi Chicken according to their website is less that $10! They will get my business from now on. read more

Still on the hunt for a new go-to Chinese takeout since our previous one closed. we gave China Wok a try, and weren't disappointed! I called in an order and was told 15 minutes by the friendly gentleman on the phone, and sure enough, the food was ready when I arrived. We ordered two soups and four different combinations to try. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the staff very kind. The egg drop soup was great - it's a sort of measuring stick for me with Chinese takeout, and China Wok's was very nice. The egg rolls were crispy and delicious, and the sweet & sour chicken, boneless spare ribs, and sesame chicken were as expected. The pork egg foo young was better than I thought it might be, but the brown sauce/gravy that comes with it was disappointing - thick, gloopy, pale, and tasted mostly of flour. I can only speak to my go to Chinese food...Pork egg foo young. I'm new to the area and tried the China wok for my go to order. Egg foo young is basically an egg, vegetable and pork omelette. The thing that separates it from mediocre to good is the gravy that comes with it. It takes just the right combination to make it taste right. My first bite told me I would become a regular. The gravy is near perfect...only need to add one packet of soy sauce to the gravy mixture. I now buy two orders when I stop in for take out. A great comfort food to go for me. When they say "15 minutes" it will be ready for pick up. Of the other recipes are this good you need to try them. If u need a fancy eatery this is a bare bones no frills place. This little spot in Summerville was excellent! The dining area was immaculately clean. The gentleman taking my order was so pleasant, and greeted me with a smile. I'm a huge fan of this place, everyone is always nice and welcoming that I base my expectations of other locations. I've been coming here for years and the owner and family are the greatest. We alway get the same dishes and have never been disappointed. The chicken and broccoli in white sauce, bourbon chicken, and the wanton soup, so delicious. The food is great and the turnaround time is quick. For parties and small gatherings, we always grab big orders from them, and they have enough sizes to choose from. So disappointed with my dinner tonight Ordered Gen Tos chicken combo and wasted my money!. Nothing but dry rice and tiny bits of pork that had no flavor. The eggroll had a sour taste, like it was close or past expiration. The general tso looked grayish in color and was also dry. Where's the peas carrots and onions?? Scramble egg would be nice to have too. Adding those 3 things would make a great difference and I'm sure the cost wouldn't be much and would probably give them more business. read more

It's snowing here in South Carolina (1/3/18) but China Wok was open & taking orders. Believe it or not I've never ordered from this establishment because they don't deliver but today because they are nearby and they were open after leaving the gym we stopped in and picked up a to go order of fried fish, vegetable fried rice, broccoli in garlic sauce and for the meat eaters (my daughter and husband) boneless bbq sparerib tips. What a delicious surprise! The fried fish is definitely a reorder item along with the vegetable fried rice for me. The fish was tasty and moist not too heavy on the breading which was perfect because I can tolerate a mild amount of gluten (thanks to these wonderful digestive enzymes I discovered). As for the vegetable fried rice, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, bright in color and the taste of the rice was so perfectly on point that there was no need to add any kind of sauces. The broccoli in garlic sauce was good but a little over cooked for our liking. My husband and daughter enjoyed the boneless sparerib tips but weren't impressed saying they were a little tough. About the nicest China Wok that I have been in. Spacious compared to the one I frequent. I had the Teriyaki Chicken on a stick with fries. Good deal and good food. This was my first time at this location and will not be my last. There was a steady flow of traffic and my order did not take long. Call in about 15-20 minutes ahead and when arrived the food was just getting ready. Perfect timing. Ordered the boneless spare ribs and house fried rice. The boneless spare ribs were pretty good. I would go back just for the ribs. But I would not pay the extra $2 (not sure the exact extra charge) to turn my rice into house fried rice. It was just yellow rice and I counted 3 shrimp and about 4 pieces pork. No chicken , no vegetables. Just yellow rice that I paid extra for, don't do it to yourself. If you like house fried rice, you will be highly disappointed. But the ribs is well worth it. read more

We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food and service. My wife had Mongolian Beef with Pork Fried Rice, and I had Sweet and Sour Chicken with Pork Fried Rice. First the Pork Fried Rice, this is white rice with yellow food coloring, a few onions, and a few pieces of pork. Really no flavor, very bland, and difidently was not fried. As for the Mongolian Beef, I am not sure where they got their recipe, but Mongolian Beef does not have broccoli in it. Mongolian Beef is prepared with onions, green onions, and Chineese noodles with a spicy sauce. We will not return, still looking for a great Chinese dining experience. read more

Maybe I'm spoiled--having lived in NYC & St Louis, famous Chinese food hubs-- but we thought this place was genuinely horrible. Sure the food was fast & the guy polite. But where it counts, the food was disgusting. The fried rice was literally white. The lo mein noodles seemed as if they were cooking all day, the vegetables--supposed to have some crunch--flaccid as well. I give 2 stars instead of 1 so as not to be supremely rude.
