I told her I would like 4-5 packs of soy sauce. She asks me, just soy sauce? I said yes, only soy sauce. She then turns around and grabs two packs of soy and two packs of duck.... Why the F even bother asking me if you're just going to do what you want anyhow? I take very serious issue with this. Drives me crazy! While Clements Ferry is growing, there's not many options for a quick bite to eat. My buddy lives down the street and we called in a pickup order for lunch. We placed the order and went to pickup ten minutes later. Right away we noticed their takeout setup for covid that they built. It's similar to a drive up bank or a late night gas station were they open a door on their end to put the food in, then you open on your end to collect it... as well as payment ect. They have a table outside with menus taped to it and pens for you to use to sign the CC slip. It was elaborate and well thought out. I had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and some wanton soup. Everything was pretty good an on par with plenty of other similar chinese places in the area. While it is average, the location is key if you're in the area and looking for anything other than fast food. read more

Fortune cookies are good - that's it though - egg rolls were dripping grease from them - rice is an odd orange color and has a crazy amount of onion in it - the honey chicken was just fried batter little to no chicken. A positive was the temperature of all of the food was piping hot. We are regretting our choice to try this restaurant and will not be trying it again. read more

For a cheap, quick lunch over by Daniel island, you cannot beat Tokyo Express. I LOVE coming here. Sure, the inside is a little shabby and there is limited seating. They also have a GIANT menu with no descriptions. But, they make up for it with cheap, quick lunches and white sauce by the squeeze bottle ( a nice touch, not having to pay for extras...) While I don't love the shrimp (Hello....we live in Charleston, I like fresh shrimp) I do enjoy the Hibachi Chicken with white rice. Their egg drop soup is a little lacking, but I promise you, you won't regret eating here. It is definitely a regular stop of ours when we are out and about on the weekends. They offer both Japanese and Chinese dishes, as well as a few American meals (chicken fingers come to mind). Yum! read more

Where I work, we are pretty limited on our lunch options so my co-worker and I order often from this place. Is it the best, nah but it is decent. I should really give it 3.5 stars because due to how frequent we order from here but the scoring system does not allow it. It's your typical Chinese to go place with dine in option. They have a good selection of lunch specials starting at 6.25 per order. I normally get the chicken curry, the chicken lo mien, or the shang-hi pancit noodles. My co-worker loves the boneless bbq pork over rice and the lunch special hibachi. You get free sweet tea with your lunch orders. They are pretty quick and can get busy during lunch hour. read more

Tokyo Express is great for what it is. It's fast food Hibachi, and in my opinion it's done well. I work and live on Clements Ferry Rd so I'm constantly nearby. I always get the Hibachi Chicken entree and request only carrots and zucchini as my veggies. They get my order correct every time and don't charge me any extra for my special request. The good: The location and food. Located on Clements Ferry Road, it gives me an option for lunch/dinner without having to get on a highway or going to DI or MT. P. The food is also above average for your typical Chinese take-out spot. I'm a big fan of General Tso's chicken, lo mien and egg rolls, and Tokyo Express does it very well. Have also had their chicken wings, which were surprising good. The bad: Cleanliness and changing prices. I've only gotten take-out but the waiting area (which includes the drink station) could use a bit more upkeep. Dirty floors and unstocked condiments should be an easy fix. Also, maybe it's just me but it seems like they change their prices often and it never matches their menu cost. Nothing major, but just find it odd. read more
