Still on the hunt for a new go-to Chinese takeout since our previous one closed. we gave China Wok…read morea try, and weren't disappointed! I called in an order and was told 15 minutes by the friendly gentleman on the phone, and sure enough, the food was ready when I arrived. We ordered two soups and four different combinations to try. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the staff very kind. The egg drop soup was great - it's a sort of measuring stick for me with Chinese takeout, and China Wok's was very nice. The egg rolls were crispy and delicious, and the sweet & sour chicken, boneless spare ribs, and sesame chicken were as expected. The pork egg foo young was better than I thought it might be, but the brown sauce/gravy that comes with it was disappointing - thick, gloopy, pale, and tasted mostly of flour. Honestly, China Wok was a very pleasant surprise, and I would definitely order from them again!

Every was better there but this Sunday after discovering King Chef was closed ; we decided to try China Wok Again. BAD MOVE The fried chicken wings weren't just greasy , they were DRIPPING in OIL.. disgusting.... worst i had had. I also told him to drain the grease first ..Not Done The pancid i ordered was supposed to have noodles and vegetables. It was just about all noodles with a hint of carrots.. WILL NEVER RETURN.....you can't imagine how greasy and oily the chicken was ...most was thrown away. Just like what they did to my business...thrown away and back to King Chef.

Most travelers would probably just pass right by -- but don't! Thai House Restaurant serves some of the best authentic Thai food we've had. We started with their crispy spring rolls, stuffed with cabbage, carrots and glass noodles, and you could tell these were made right here in the kitchen -- fresh, crisp and delicious. Then came the Tom Kha Gai not featured) , that wonderfully fragrant coconut milk soup with chicken, lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime. Highly addictive! The Basil Chicken, made with ground chicken and ordered medium spicy, was very, very good, while Marcus had the Tom Yum Koong, that wonderfully hot-and-sour Thai soup with shrimp. Our lovely server, Ms. Anong, made our dinner even more enjoyable. Nothing fancy about this place, just seriously delicious, authentic Thai cooking. When you pass through Santee, or stay here overnight, and you care about the real thing -- this is it!

It was fresh, the meat was juicy and plentiful, and had plenty of kick. Ordering a salad when you really want some curry is tough, but this was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing something.

And I wanted to try the Young Chow Fried Rice and the Sweet & Sour Glazed Wings...all phenomenal. All of this was plenty to share among three people for happy hour fun. And what's happy hour without the cocktails? I had the Chinese Awakening (strong but great) and the Golden Phoenix (which was purple and not gold, but still good). I'd definitely return for the full dining experience next time I'm back home!
