As a person who has been a customer for over 10 years, I don't know this person's name, but 99.9% of the time, the Chinese lady who is always taking people's orders has been very, very nasty to me, my father, mother, sister, and boyfriend on many different occasions. I believe that, whether she is the manager or owner, her attitude is always rude. As mentioned above, going here for a long time and being so close, within walking distance, is why I keep coming back. In the beginning, during the first few times of encountering her attitude, I thought it was just towards me and overlooked the rudeness. However, I found out from many others, including my own family members, that they have experienced her bad attitude as well. This is why I have come to the conclusion of NEVER returning, even if it's within walking distance. Hopefully, others will have a better experience than I have had over these 10 years. I ordered two dinners. One the rice was beyond brown and dry. I also got sweet and sour chicken. I don't use the sauce so I had asked for no sauce and extra hot mustard. I got one packet of mustard. One soy sauce for two dinners. The beef in my hunan beef was so disgusting and chewy. I couldn't eat it. Two hours later I was super sick from eating the chicken. China express was a pleasant surprise. The food was fresh and tasty. I had the lunch buffet on a Wednesday and the place got packed by lunchtime. The only thing is there were not many meat items that fit a keto diet. They did have some baked chicken, but everything else was pretty much battered and fried. I will certainly eat here again. My boyfriend wanted to meet for lunch and he wanted to try this place out. I've never thought twice about this place. The parking lot is small so it was packed during lunch time. Inside is pretty small. It's clean. The selection is limited but the food is good. Everything is fresh and hot. They offer the typical food: fried chicken wings, lo mein, veggies, dumplings, soups, fried rice, etc. There's also a salad and dessert station. I noticed a few varieties of sushi on it too. The service was great. They had two employees collecting dirty plates and refilling drinks. They offer a full take out menu, as well, which is great. With most Chinese buffets, you have to take out from the buffet items. The lunch buffet price is super reasonable--about $18 for the two of us. I'll definitely be back for lunch. read more

Needed lunch in the area, decided to try this place out. Seemed like an easy fast buffet and I could smell the Chinese food aroma from around the block. I went inside the place looked clean, the staff seemed nice, but I think the most important thing when dining at an establishment is the taste of the food. Although the price was great for lunch, the food seemed clean and the people were nice, the food was pretty bad. The variety of meats were pretty bland and just had the same taste to it. The Lo-mein was bland and so was the rice. The "General chicken" and their version of bourbon chicken tasted the same and was pretty dry. I wouldn't go back. read more

I eat keto which is super low carb, high fat, moderate protein. When my family invited me to join them for dinner at this chinese buffet, I was nervous. Chinese food is tough to find low carb because of hidden carbs in the sauces plus so many temptations! I loooove a good General Tso's and Chinese restaurant's chicken wings. The nervousness was compounded because no Mongolian grill to build my own and a smaller buffet equaling a smaller selection. I left there impressed and stuffed! First stop was the salad bar. So many fresh, delicious options for a small buffet! Two types of lettuce mix bases, fresh mushrooms, black olives, fresh slices of cucumber, fresh broccoli cut into tiny, perfect-for-salad trees. Wonderful salad bar. For the hot options I was able to load up on smoked sausage, black pepper shrimp, they had a spot for boiled shrimp but it had salmon which also found a temporary home on my plate, and two types of chicken. That's what I can remember! One of the chicken options ended up being sweet, but it was so good I ate it anyways. I had to try at least one of my standard Chinese favorites, opting for a fried chicken drumette which did not disappoint! Just to double check how well I did at avoiding excess carbs I checked my weight the next morning. I didn't gain any weight! So def two thumbs up on this buffet. Small but a great variety of fresh, delicious options even if you're trying to eat a certain way. Oh and the service was great. Drinks regularly filled, dirty plates removed in a timely manner. We eat here at least once or twice a month, they have a great buffet, where the food tastes the way it should. Everything on the buffet is great and not bland like a lot of Chinese buffets. They also have lots of variety to choose from and free ice cream at the end of the meal, which is an added plus. Love this place and plan on eating more and more of it in the future. I'm not really sure why people say this place is the "best Chinese food". Seriously, go somewhere else. We tried it because reviews on Yahoo! said "you HAVE to try this place". Here's the few issues I have with it: 1) Not a lot of variety at all. For $8 and change I'd rather head somewhere else and pay $10 for more than 3 small buffet bars. My husband and I thought it was a larger buffet because the restaurant looks really big from the outside. Don't let that fool you, it's TINY inside. 2) NO won ton soup unless you ask for it, I shouldn't have to ask for won ton soup... "Free for dine in only" sign, haha free... 3) The girls who work there hang out against the salad/fruit bar and ice cream. So basically if you want to get to it, they have to move. Not sure how that situation goes because: 4) They have salad dressing in their original Hidden Valley bottles resting against the back of the salad bar. I don't have an issue with it coming out of the bottle, but I don't think that's how you should present it to the customer. How trashy is that... 5) My husband said the lo mein tasted like plastic, like the packaging got into the noodles or something. I wanted to try it and he said "don't bother", and he LOVES lo mein AND crappy Chinese food - so that's saying something. I usually judge my Chinese food restaurants on how good the rice is cooked haha. Sounds dumb, but it seriously foreshadows how the food will be! Best Chinese buffet we've found! Service is great! We moved to town around 3 weeks ago and have been trying out different places so we can find our local favorites. We've been in search of a great chinese restaurant/buffet. We walked in to Chinese Express last night and found the buffet to be fresh, the service was fast and friendly and the food was good. All dishes were hot and it didn't look like they make huge servings with any of the dishes, which means there is constant fresh food coming out. My favorite item on the buffet is always the rice noodles, and the ones here were perfect! The buffet wasn't as large as other's we've been to, but the selection was good and they had everything that we liked. I did notice as we were seated that they have to-go and serve individual entrees and sides as well. So they are a full menu and buffet restaurant. The bonus for us is that while we've been driving all over Summerville and N. Charleston, they're right down the street! I can only imagine that the previous reviewers had a different experience and that it's possibly changed management. The servers were all in the kitchen or waiting tables, the salad bar was clean and the food was as good as you can get for a Chinese buffet. read more
