China Town Review | Summerville, Sc 1206 N Main St Summerville, Sc 29483 China Town Chinese Buffet - Summerville, SC 3.5 out of 5 stars Walking into China Town, the first impression was solid. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself was clean with inviting décor. No sticky floors, no mystery smells--points awarded there. Now... let's talk buffet reality. The food selection was noticeably smaller than what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet. Missing staples like General Tso's Chicken and coconut shrimp is borderline buffet blasphemy. I mean... who does that? Those are like the founding fathers of Chinese buffet culture. As for the food that was available--everything was cooked to absolute extinction. Any bacteria that ever thought about existing didn't stand a chance. I grabbed two pieces of fish that were so overcooked I wasn't sure whether to eat them or use them as a door stop. I chose neither. Then there's the pricing. For the selection offered, it felt overpriced, especially when you add the extra 3% credit card fee at the register. Two people, after tip, came in just shy of $50--and that's a tough pill to swallow when you're missing half the buffet hall of fame. Final Verdict Friendly staff and a clean dining room can only carry things so far. With a limited selection, overcooked food, and pricing that doesn't match the experience, this one didn't land for me. Not impressed--and not going back. Buffet lovers, you've been warned www.westayedthere.com

The aroma of the food lured me to China Town while I was getting errands done in Summerville. Haven't had Chinese buffet in a while, so was excited go try this restaurant for the 1st time. It lunchtime on a week of a holiday. They were semi busy, but not too bad. Was seated immediately, along with my drink order. The buffet had a plethora of choices typically on a Chinese buffet. They kept replenishing items on the buffet at a decent pace. Everything was clean and decorated well. I would v9sit again if I'm craving Chinese and on that side of town.

The food was good. The server was back and forth making sure everything was good very well on checking my table I had sweet tea and she changed it out got me Dr. Pepper no problem. It's a very busy crowd during 12 noon lots ms families and noise. the buffet kept fresh food but it's kinda pricey I paid $52 for me And two kids.

Old Li's is an outstanding authentic Asian restaurant. I loved it. No reservations required and plenty of tables. It's a very clean well ordered establishment. Also plenty of free parking right outside. The staff could not have been any better, prompt, attentive & very knowledgeable about the menu. The round table we sat had had a "lazy Susan" to facilitate the sharing of dishes. We ordered based on recommendations, personal taste & heat levels. The dishes were absolutely delicious. So good. I think the Peking Duck was the star of the show. If you are seeking Asian authenticity & phenomenal family service.. Old Li's in N. Charleston near Tanger outlet is your place to go. Of note the prices cannot be beat. A really nice change!!

I tried Pagoda on the recommendation of a friend who grew up going to Pagoda in the 80s and 90s…read more The online menu looked good, and I was happy to see Cantonese boneless chicken on it, which is a dish I rarely see these days. I called in a takeout order on a Friday evening and the food was ready quickly and the staff was friendly. There is no dine in service, which was not a problem. The food was... not good. The egg drop soup was a good color, nice and dark yellow, but quite runny and just pretty bland. The pork egg foo young was fine, had lots of pork in it, but again, was bland. The sauce that usually comes with egg foo young should be a darker, glossy brown, but the sauce that came with this was a thick, colorless, flavorless breakfast looking gravy that was awful. The Cantonese boneless chicken was terrible as well, and for some reason was drowning in the bland, colorless gravy as well. The Pagoda fried rice hardly had any meat in it, and I understood this to be their house fried rice, which should have had several types of meat included. Even the egg rolls were bland. I definitely will not be returning, and the search for a new regular Chinese takeout spot continues...

I've been indulging in a lot of soup lately since I haven't been feeling well, and that brings me…read moreto my latest experience with Pagoda in Summerville. I consider myself a bit of a broth snob--there's something special about the time it takes to create a good chicken stock. I decided to order a small wonton soup from their website, where it was listed at $2.75. What a deal, right? However, when my husband picked up the order, we were charged $3.90. Apparently, there's been a price change per their printed menu, which wasn't reflected with their online website--a small annoyance, but worth noting. If you're in search of a good soup broth, definitely another good restaurant to try. Now, onto the soup. The broth was actually quite good--not just plain yellow chicken broth but something with a bit more flavor. I'd possibly order it again. My main gripe is that a small soup came with only two wontons. Is this normal? Maybe it is, but I've been to other places in the Charleston-Summerville area that serve more wontons even in their small soups. While I might go back, I'd recommend asking ahead about the number of wontons if that's a dealbreaker for you. You may want to upgrade to a large if two wontons won't cut it. Overall, I'd say Pagoda is worth a shot, but manage your expectations for portion sizes.

We believe our search is over, and we declare Great Wall our new go-to spot. We walked up to the counter and the young man patiently took our order. We then sat down and noted most of the orders ready for take out were for rice and fried chicken. I became a little anxious, as our order seemed to drag on, and I wondered silently if we were set for another disappointment. We've been hoping to find a new restaurant before Christmas Day, as we've planned this as our yuletide meal this year, and we've been searching since Fortune Garden unexpectedly closed on New Years Day this year. Our order was finally called, we were granted our various sauces, we retrieved everything and headed home. We began unpacking everything from the brown paper bag and I noticed a couple of things immediately: our order was correct, the food was hot...but then, something else caught my eye. The egg foo young gravy. Now, if you're a connoisseur of the egg foo young, you've undoubtedly run across sub-par gravy: thick, lumpy, gray and not terribly inviting. This was not that gravy. The concoction was a dark brown, silky and smooth. The taste of egg foo young and gravy was heavenly. We then tried the house special fried rice and the egg rolls. Definitely closest to our beloved Fortune Garden. You should make Great Wall your new forever Chinese takeout restaurants. Maybe we'll see you there on Christmas!
